This!!!!!
I have a good friend that works for Verizon corporate (operations manager) in a Tampa, FL. I just finished geeking out over the phone with her about the new iPhone X. She stated that there are
mass pre-order queues that they are going through in batches. The location of their distributors and warehouses in conjunction with the order location (delivery address) and order time are the main factors in regards to who gets shipped the fastest vs who doesn’t.
Since I live in east FL, which is 140+ miles away from their 35,000+ square feet storage and distribution center, I essentially am at the “bottom” of the queue for the 11/03 deliveries. My credit card will be charged sometime today if not tomorrow and my phone will be shipped out sometime tomorrow if not Wednesday.
I’m not sweating it anymore

. I’d rather have my phone sent directly from the distribution center that is less than 2.1 hours away than it being sent overseas from China. It’s already here in the states, so I don’t have to worry about the potential risk of it being damaged or lost en-route from overseas. That’s simply my two cents.
I’m lucky I am not my friend either. She currently has her iPhone X in possession I type. She unfortunately cannot open the box, nor can she activate it as well. I’d rather not be in that position, hahaha!
