Should I pre order it from Verizon or Apple store? Are there any differences?
There are some differences. If you require a trade in to upgrade, as is the case with many who bought a 7/+ last year, you must go through Verizon. Apart from that I’m not sure of all the differences.

Question for everyone; should we just be Command-R'ing this website tonight, or going from the app?? Final thoughts??
I’m going through the app. I just feel like it will be quicker, but maybe I’ll be wrong; hopefully not :) I’m also interested in seeing what others on here are opting for

Does Verizon charge extra $30 activation when u purchase of preoeder an iPhone from Apple store? I have a single line account with Verizon, when I did a test run for pre-ordering, there was a disclaimer saying g VZ will charge activation fee since the phone number I used to order is tie with a Samsung galaxy note 8 which I only financed $11 (I had to wait for one month before pay that off in order to get the deal I got for the Note 8).

Are you the account owner? It has to be the the last 4 digits of the SSN of the main account holder (not anyone else on the account), and the zip code of the billing address on the account.

In my case, we’re on a family account, which we’ve had since before Verizon was Verizon. Even though I’m an account manager, and I do pretty much everything as far as our plan and payments and such, I still have to use my dad’s SSN when going through 3rd party retailers such as Apple or Best Buy, since he’s the one who originally opened the account.

That’s the info that I was using. Hopefully, I can get it figured out soon. Thanks, though!

Good call. Going through App as well. Every year for the past 4 years I've gotten it on release day, but I'm super nervous this time. In my mind, if I get it before November ends, I'll count that as successful haha.
[doublepost=1509027896][/doublepost]If you go on the app, my first page ("Feed"), my first box on there is the iPhone X countdown. Are we thinking that will change to a link to buy when the timer runs out?

Haven't checked lately, but something to try around the time preorders go live...

When I was preordering the 8, the Verizon app had a countdown to the start of preorders on the main screen that appeared when the app first opened after logging in. If you repeatedly tapped that area of the screen before it actually appeared (immediately after logging in), it would bring up the screen to choose the model you wanted, etc. I couldn't get it to actually let me put an order through but maybe someone will be able to get it to work.

I just called Verizon, they said that $30 activation has to do with the sim card comes with the new iPhone, so the system will charge it no matter what, unless I order the sim free model. Can anyone confirm? For Verizon users on Apple IUP, do u get charge a activation fee every time u upgrade through apple? Cuz the phone u are getting also contain a new Verizon Sim card.

I think that will probably change to a link, yes. However, I’m gonna go to the devices tab, go to my line, tap upgrade, and get to the screen where it shows the list of devices, hoping that the X will be there when orders go live. I think this will be fastest if timed correctly

Still not sure if I wanna get iPhone X from Apple store or Verizon. If I get an iPhone X from Apple store, how can I activate it? Is it complicated?

If you're looking to do the $300 trade in credit for an iPhone 6s, do you apply the trade in during checkout or do you skip that part and trade in later? Right now it's saying my iPhone 6s is worth $186 trade in so wasn't sure if I was supposed to do that option and they'll adjust it later, or if you skip that part and do the trade in later. Thanks for everyone's help!

Probably. You can try swapping the SIM out of the new phone with your old phone SIM without activating the new SIM. You may still get charged the 30 bucks but it is worth a try.

I visited 2 more Verizon stores today. One was a corporate store. They had no knowledge of being able to order at 12 midnight when pre-orders begin. They said they are taking names and sending a link on the 26th.

The second was an authorized retailer. He said they will be ordering at midnight and needed the customers name and number. He said on the 26th he will contact customer and customer needs to supply a method of payment and PIN if customer wish to still order. The part I have a problem with is the payment. What if their shipping date is 2018? They would have hit my credit card and would have done me no good to get phone at launch. Also this retailer is inside a large mall. Does he have access to the mall that late? Or is he just saying anything to get an order?

UPDATE: I decided a while back that I was pre-ordering via the Apple store app. However, I did give the retailer mentioned above my number to call me and verify I still wanted to order through him. Well here we are on the 26th and he has not called! I doubt if he will call. What a shister!!!

I am planning on ordering through Verizon. Will I have to put in my credit card information before I can checkout, or will my Verizon account just get charged,so I would have to pay the activation fee when my bill is due?I have paid off 50% of my iPhone 7 Plus, so the only thing I would have to pay up front for is the activation fee.

Does anyone know if preordering via the Apple Store app is the same as going through Verizon? In the app you can select the Verizon Monthly payments and everything.

Last year I was able to get a deal for the verizon iPhone 7 for $15/month. The way this deal works is that you're charged the normal $32.xx fee but then verizon issues a billing credit to offset the cost down to $15. The billing credit is issued every month for 2 years, ensuring you stay on verizon for that time period.

I want to buy the iPhone X full price from the Apple store app. Whenever I add my account info, I get a message saying I will have to fully pay off the other device. The issue is, if I fully pay off my iPhone 7, the billing credits will stop. I don't mind continuing to pay monthly for my iPhone 7, I just want to buy the new X and pay it off fully.

I'm part of a family plan so I can just use a family member's number who has a device fully paid off. Does anyone know how this will work? The iPhone X will have to be activated with the family member's number first and then it can be transferred correct?

Thanks in advance

We are dealing with a phone that costs over $1,000 and yet you are fretting over $30? I don’t appreciate this extra fee, especially when we already have existing Verizon SIM cards, but I have bigger things to worry about such as getting this phone on Nov 3rd

From my understanding, you have to enter a card at checkout, to pay taxes and fees up front. I thought the activation fee was gonna be waived for people who ordered through the app? Could someone verify that?

Has anyone ordered through bestbuy? I am ordering one X from BestBuy and one from Verizon and I’ll cancel one of them. I have double the chance to get it on the 3rd. Has anyone ever pre ordered from Best Buy before?

Yeah someone else on here mentioned that’s what they were gonna do and I thought it sounded good. Hoping it works ;) So excited! :)

I have to update more than one line for my family. Do you think I should just do my upgrade alone on the app and then go back and upgrade 2 more lines separately? Through the app I don't think there is an option to do multiple upgrades.

I’m not sure on that. There doesn’t seem to be an obvious way to upgrade multiple lines in the app.
