**update so i was just running a dummy test run with the iPhone 8plus, and that was saying i needed to buy it at full retail price, but the iPhone 8 is letting me go through? anyone know why? does this mean the X shouldnt work because its more expensive?

Do you think if I leave it on the screen right before the select a device screen in the VZ app, going through the upgrade process from the devices page, the X will show up on that page once the pre orders go live? Or do you expect I’ll need to start the process as soon as the pre orders go live rather than going through the first few steps in the minute before? (Hope this makes sense)
Or maybe I should just use the banner that should show up right when they go live....

Here is my confusion...and it sort of tags onto what you are asking: Apparently they are waiving the $30 activation fee if you pre-order through the app. I haven't seen anywhere that this is listed. When I do a trial run with an 8 or 8 Plus, the $30 fee is included along with the sales tax. I'm concerned that if I try to do what you mentioned trying that I will end up with the $30 fee. If I instead go via the banner that activates at the appropriate time...maybe not. I'm stressing the f out.
[doublepost=1509082893][/doublepost]Can anyone tell me where it has been said by Verizon that they are waiving the $30 activation fee for iPhone X pre-orders? Thank you!

Did you bring the 7 plus from TMobile to Verizon ? If so, you didn't pay the sales tax upfront through TMobile ?
If the tax was financed, I suspect that Verizon was playing nice because you were coming from another carrier.
As a Verizon customer, I've ordered 10 phones over 4 model years during the launch day and have paid the sales tax every time. Perhaps it varies by state if there are specific tax/financing laws ?
No... I ordered online and didn't speak to anyone... No one "playing nice." Also... didn't port in until I received my phone. Called Verizon and did it that day.

Here is a screencap of my order email...

If I go through the devices section, I don’t see an upgrade fee being added when I just tested with an 8 Plus.

If you have Device Dollars from the beloved Verizon Up program can you use them on taxes? There’s no upgrade fee to use them on.

In some states, online retailers did not have to apply sales tax. You could have had to pay at a local store, but not if buying online. That has changed for most places however.

Very confusing...

Some quick notes:

- Input your card/billing info now to save time

- Know if you have any outstanding fees to pay

- No upgrade fee ($30) when processing in the Verizon app. There is an upgrade fee when processing on the verizonwireless.com website.

- Don't forget your Device Dollars!

Where does it say no upgrade fee if using the app ?

Where is this listed or advertised? I haven't been able to find any official confirmation of it. When trying to do a trial run (via the app) with an 8 or 8 Plus, the $30 fee is applied to my account. I posted a screen shot a little while ago: #1632

In the checkout page you will see it (tested with iPhone 8 mock orders). It's not advertised.
[doublepost=1509085067][/doublepost]The Verizon app's Shop page has been updated with a greyed out "Get Started" button.

Just did this mere seconds ago.
[doublepost=1509085285][/doublepost]Looks like Verizon us hosting the preorders on separate CDN servers... smart.

This is frustrating. I just tested it with both an 8 and an 8 Plus. I currently have an 6s Plus that has been paid off in full since February and I'm choosing the installment payment method. Also tested it with a full upfront payment.

I was just able to place an order on Verizon's business page. Got a Space Gray 256GB with a 11/03 delivery date.
