And with several people already suggesting the issues were solved by installing the 17.1 beta…

Got the iPhone 15 Pro on day one and immediately suffered from extreme overheating specially during calls (and battery dropped 30 % point in 1 hr).
Even restored it in DFU e reinstalled everything from scratch. Still burning hot.

Reluctantly I finally installed 17.1 and this SOLVED my problem. During calls is nor longer heating and battery returned to normal depletion. However still have the feeling that something is wrong with this phone.

My second post, and a response to the subject that nudged me to actually sign up 😂.

First, I feel bad for those with heat issues. It’s a real letdown to look forward to something only to have it turn out to be a catastrophe.

Second, I’m lucky .. actually I feel like I’m probably in the majority and one of the ones without issues. Hopefully I am and it’s not widespread. I picked up mine on launch day. Ordered online and had it shipped to Apple Store. I actually took the day off work as I had a couple of other things that needed to be done. (Apple employee didn’t transfer my old sim to eSIM which shot down me getting anything else done tho lol). The only heat I’ve experienced is when the phone is near full charge and it’s less than my 13PM was. This is just my opinion, but I think it’s a third party app issue. I’m a light user… don’t use Facebook, Instagram, X etc. I have the Autel Sky app, a banking app, Blink camera app, Duo authentication for work, Fender tuner app, Gaia GPS hiking app, Signal messenger, YouTube (not signed in - former android user who avoids Google when possible haha), DuckDuckGo browser (my tinfoil hat is pretty leaky). Apple Store app for some reason 🤦‍♂️

I lived with severe battery drain on my 13 for a couple of months. It was finally resolved but the phone still ran warmer than my 15 has so far. I plan on trying the drone out this weekend and will see if that resource hog causes issues.

Best of luck to everyone with issues and hopefully it’s patched out soon.

Edit: Because it’s been asked before, I restored from an iCloud backup and didn’t set up as a new device. My OCD is killing me because of it. I love a clean “format” 😂🤦‍♂️

My 1TB 15 ProMax only got slightly warm when I retored it using the direct method from my older 14 PM. It even paired my Ultra and was on the charger at the same time.

Every damn time I use my anker maggo 622 wireless battery pack to charge my 15 pro. Never had this issue charging my 13 pro over the last 1.5 years of owning the charger.

I must be one of the lucky ones. I been using my 15 pro max for 1 week now and haven’t experienced any over heating issues. I was one that was skeptical about upgrading from the 14 pro max but I am so glad I did.

- phone feels snappy and faster than 14 pro max
- lighter and more comfortable to use for extended periods of time
- the cameras are an improvement over the 14 pro max
- USB-C just more convenient than lightening
- battery life is slightly better

Same here. My 15P feels warm just from browsing these posts. Never had that with any new iPhone, not even in the first weeks.
My phone seems a bit more normal now. Less heating up with regular use (browsing in Safari, Apple Music, and even Instagram). Personally I don't mind a bit of warmth with demanding tasks.

Might have been indexing and optimizing combined with sub optimal OS...?
I've never had the 'waiting to cool down to charge' message, so I guess for some the problem could be severe.

People raise this issue with every iPhone release, yet as far back as I can remember there have always been issues with iPhones heating up during normal usage. It's normal, these are powerful chips.

The draining of battery however is not, and it is always interesting to see that a lot of people with these issues are usually restoring from backups or transferring from other devices.

For some reason part of drinking the Apple Kool-aid is to believe that they somehow avoid the same issues as other operatiing systems when it comes to potential problems introduced by backups. It's always best to start with a fresh install and go from there. Whether I have an iPhone or Android device I always do a fresh wipe with each major release, it stops all the crud from building and you always have a fresh feeling phone. I know this isn't ideal for everyone, but owning what is essentially more advanced technology should incur a learning curve that everyone should go through. Boo hoo your phone is inoperable for a couple of hours at most once a year, worth it for fixing a lot of issues.

Your average Joe will never do this though, but thankfully if they take their device to an Apple store for help the first thing the "genius" will do is wipe their phone.

Also worth reiterating that it takes Apple, the worlds richest company (most of the time), until around iOS XX.3 or so to get their crap together.

Throw the phone in the freezer for a few minutes? Apple just can’t get software right on iPhone launches. Embarrassing!

As a side note, Unix based systems are definitely LESS prone to crud, but it still exists. That being said, wiping MacOS once yearly is beautiful compared to doing the same thing for Windows 11 every few months. That's not even because it's necessary with MacOS, it just keeps things ticking nicely. With Windows it IS a necessity. 11 is definitely a lot better than 10 in this regard but ultimately the archaic file system is trash.

Well, Apple finally admitted the phones have a heat problem. They will update iOS to handle it. I was surprised they said the titanium aluminum combo was better at dissipating heat than the previous design - really - others may disagree.

Now the only question is how they deal with it in software. But at least now we know the heating up is a real thing and not user error or YouTubers looking for views.

1 week ip15 pro max owner here, play Ghenshin impact for 2 hours straight , editing photo on lightroom mobile for many hours. No overheating . The only time my phone does warm up is the first 2 days.

Hang on, you made a whole bunch of claims like titanium was the issue and that Apple was going to throttle the A17 in an update, and dodged a whole bunch of questions about that repeatedly. Don't pretend to be interested in the truth of the matter.

When you run the 15 Pro in benchmark stress tests next to a 14 Pro, it doesn't get significantly hotter. So what would throttling down the A17 Pro achieve?

Benchmark stress test the 15 Pro next to a 14 Pro and it doesn't get significantly hotter. How do you explain that?

The mostly aluminium chassis radiates more heat out of the side rails than the stainless steel iPhones. But you said titanium has to go. How do you explain that?

The iPhone 15 with the same A16 chip from last year, and no titanium at all, suffers from the exact same random heating up issue. How do you explain that?

You were making all these claims and refusing to answer any questions. Can you answer them?
