This will be the hand gesture after you ask Siri to do something simple for the 8th time and you are hoping THIS TIME is actually gets it right ;)

These gestures are pretty much the same as the existing gestures on the Meta Quest. Nothing new to people who already use VR.

I was especially talking about the interface: the eye tracking + gestures and how it’s used inside a OS designed for it. It’s like a standardization for spatial computing. The industry needed this just like smartphones needed clear foundations before iPhone.

I don't think it will ever be as precise as a trackpad or mouse standing still on a table, or even a touchscreen interface like an iPhone or iPad.

Everyone on this forum should watch Minority Report. They got so much right visually.

Really well done. In 5 years, these will be one third the price and in 10 - just another device.

Better to get to market with the right product then the first one.

So how many false positives will this trigger on a regular basis?

Yes, I know the hands-on* impressions have been overwhelmingly positive so far, but those are done in extremely controlled environments that likely avoid conditions where the hand gestures would perform poorly.

* No pun intended

What does the middle finger do when you get frustrated with these gestures 🤣

I would love to own one of these things for the novelty of using it. If it could emulate 3 external displays for my MacBook, that alone might make it worth it to have a desk devoid of displays and still be able to work in a multi-display environment -- it would be less than the cost of 3 x Studio Displays. Right now it looks like it simply shows your MacBook's primary display.

This thing looks like magic, but I don't really buy the whole "you are not isolated from your environment" thing.

You cannot wear this at a birthday party for your kids and shoot 3D photos and still be in those photos. They need iPhone to have the capability to shoot 3D photos (including selfies) so you don't have to be wearing Vision Pro (maybe iPhone 15?).

Even if wearing it around the house your family is going to ask you to take it off. And if you want to collaborate (e.g.: "hey look at this on my screen") you are going to have to remove it and switch to iPhone, iPad or MacBook.

I definitely see some drawbacks here, but some cool advantages. I would want to use this with a keyboard and trackpad and have it be my work environment in my office. Then I would take it off at the end of the day and be with family and have a nice clean desk. I know there are way more use cases, but that would be my primary one out of the gate.

NOTE: I am not even sure I would need a trackpad, but I think the eye-focus navigation only works for native visionOS apps -- not for elements in a screen share from a MacBook.

NOTE 2: They demonstrate people walking around with this thing on. I don't really walk around using an iPad (sitting down or at a podium) or a MacBook (sitting at a desk or in a chair). When walking around using my iPhone and I want to be in the moment with others, I put it in my pocket. Even my AirPods (which can be left in transparency mode) go in my pocket to get them out of the way. And Apple Watch just requires that I put my wrist down. But if walking around with AVP on my head, where do I put it when I want to be "in the moment". Is Apple going to make a backpack for this thing to go in when you are not using it?

Gestures designed by Italians.

Edit: I see someone beat me to the punch.
