I have said this before and I will say it again:

You can make a big display phone, with a big battery, and it doesn't have to weigh a lot. Many Android flagship phones over the years (I am using this since Android phones really are the only thing to compare to) were big, great battery life, and weighed a lot less than these iphones. I just don't understand what is going through Apple's mind when they are thinking "hey, lets make these phones effing heavy". The only thing that I can think of is that they are doing it, choosing materials, that make the phones cheaper to produce.

I currently have an Iphone 11 and to me it is a heavy phone. My previous phone for example was a Pixel 2 XL. That Pixel had a much bigger screen, MUCH bigger battery, it still had a nice premium build and yet it weighed .6 ounces less than my iphone 11. What gives?

y previous phone for example was a Pixel 2 XL. That Pixel had a much bigger screen,
Pixel 2 xl 6” vs pro max 6.7” so more weight from here, second ip68 so more sealings , more weight, stainless steel frame weight more, more cameras, lenses means more weight, more battery again more weight and the difference is about 50 grams
I know you have iphone 11 but still i was comparing the most heaviest iphone with your pixel..50 grams is not so much for what gives
Ps remeber pixel has aluminuum back that is lighter than glass
I hope this solves your mistery

Size wise, the Pixel 2 XL and the 13 Pro Max are I believe the same physical size phone. Yes, the Pro Max has a bigger battery, but, the Pixel 2 XL for example is a much bigger phone than the smaller 13 Pro AND the Pixel 2 XL has a bigger battery, yet the Pro 13 weighs more than the Pixel.

This forum cracks me up, man.

Apple focuses on thinness and lightness? "WHAT THE HELL, WHO CARES ABOUT HOW THIN AND LIGHT IT IS?! GIVE US A BIGGER BATTERY!"

Apple focuses on battery and features? "WHAT THE HELL, WHO CARES ABOUT THE BATTERY?!? MAKE IT THINNER AND LIGHTER!"

No, we want bigger batteries while making the phones lighter at the same time.

Again, 30 grams, aluminium back is lighter than iphones glass back, more lenses from camera, more sealing and that stainless steel frame

How many iPhone generations through the years have been promoted to us as the lightest & thinest phones EVAH!

Eventually Apple hit peak "light and thin" to the point they were bending in people's back pockets. At some point there was no more "thinnest and lightest" left to go. So they had to start enticing us with different features. Better camera, bigger battery, QI charging and so on.

Since the iPhone 8/10, Apple has made the design choice to go with glass backs, similar to the iconic iPhone 4/4S design. They could go do all aluminum or titanium designs to get back to the 5/6/7 weights if they want. We will see if they do. The phones are heavier, they need a big battery given the screen and camera capabilities, so the only way to get lighter is to use lighter materials (less glass and steel)
