Not a thing per se, but I'd like a world where a lot more of stuff like this is eaten:

Mac Mini; any spec. It's not important. Just a model that will act as a media hub w/my TV. Preferably cheap so it's not going to leave me short of money when I buy it.

Also, a new external hard drive (1TB or 2TB, not sure what make) so I can rip all of my DVD disks to it and use Plex on the Mac Mini (with the new HD as a networked drive so I can access it with my MBP) to watch them on my TV/MBP whenever I want without faffing around looking for the disks etc.

Basically, I finally got Plex to recognise my TV shows properly last Friday and I've fallen in love with the app/interface/idea of it all. Fantastic!

I had a Mac Mini about 3 years ago (it was my first Mac, actually), and to this day I regret selling it. It was small, whisper quiet, and was a fun little test bench to have. I'm pretty seriously considering getting the Mac Mini server for my wife and I to use as a fun storage box at home.

Well, if we're speaking speakers...

Conceptually, and simply going by their looks, I'm currently kind of in love with these for small computer speakers. No idea how they might sound though:

B&W MM1s would otherwise be nice, too, although I haven't listened to them either ;)

I don't like having large speakers on my desk

How on earth did you get Plex to recognize your TV shows?

I can't get it to recognize TV shows or movies for the life of me. Even really big blockbusters like 2012 come up as movies i've never heard of.

I love Plex's interface and all, but that part of it just really irks me.

If I could figure it all out, i'd get another mini for my parents to use in their entertainment center.

Oh, and to answer the thread question: The only thing I really want right now that I don't have is an Unlocked iPhone 3GS and a nice skin for my Macbook (i'm just so picky).

If Plex is anything like my XBMC box, you have to rename the files in a manner that the scrapers can read them.

Use FileBot to rename them according to which scraper Plex uses.

As for movies see this.

You are a special person.

And if this works out for me, you're even specialer (yes, specialer).

Yep, you need to make sure the scraper can understand the names.

For movies see the link... but in general, just make sure you've only got the name of the movie in the file name, none of this xVid/HD/720p business. Just the movie name.

For TV shows, I've named mine like this:
TvShow - SXXEXX
Worked perfectly for me, using the IMDb for movies, and theTVDb.com for TV Shows.

Also, you need to make sure you are consistent with your file organisation. For example, either have a folder called movies and keep all the video files in there. Or have a folder called movies, then in there have a folder for each movie that contains the video file and an image if you use your own. Then you need to make sure you choose the right setting in the scraper settings to tell it which you have chosen (Drill down on/off I think it is). Anyway... just look at the wiki.lol
