I personally prefer professional tech reviewers to bloggers and here Joana Stern and guys from The Verge are my favorites.

From bloggers I really can't stand unbox therapy for all the reasons that have been already mentioned here. The guy from EverythingApplePro is also terrible, seems like an immature rich kid with not much interesting to say. Also, I hate YouTubers whose main occupation is destroying gadgets (like this bald guy, whatever he's called, I really wouldn't think I could bend a phone by using literally all the force in my hands or scratch it by deliberately brushing it with a sandpaper, thanks man!!!). Having said that, I like MKBHD for being very professional and iJustine for just making fun videos (even if her phone reviews are sometimes filled in 80% with her testing cameras by taking various selfies 🤣).

In fairness, Unbox therapy (A.k.A-Lou) for that matter, is actually very well known in the YouTube tech-community, the problem is, he’s overly cynical. There’s nothing wrong with having discourse regarding Apple, but the way he does it is juvenile and more intentionally being pessimistic, Almost to the point where he ‘scripts‘ everything, Where it’s almost like he’s acting on purpose for a film versus actually trying to portray a sense of realism.

I’ve watched some his Lew later stuff and he’s a bit better on there, however most of his main channel videos are very click bait.

I don’t watch Unbox Therapy videos anymore. The guy is very annoying and you can tell he purposely bashes Apple for clicks and views. My last straw was when he was supposed to give away a truck full of iPhones...yeah, that was a lie by him.

When did that happen?! Must’ve missed it.

Funny I stumbled on this thread. I am getting sick and tired of these Youtube tech reviewers. As someone posted above, one day I turn it on and I have 10 videos of the same item. I find the one I prefer to watch and that's it, could be MKBHD. But even his videos are getting boring. How many phone reviews can I or do I care to watch? So many clickbait videos and dumb thumbnails. OMG just what happened to informative videos? Did we all just get older overnight and we are now not the market for these guys?

I wonder if in a whole, all these guys are ready to get the boot. A changing of the guard so to speak. Fresh blood. Lately I have been unsubscribing from a lot of channels and searching for new ones. After reading this thread, guess what I'll be doing tonight? ;)

I’ve pretty much resorted to watching Tailosive tech and lately been binging cooking videos from Guga Foods and Not Another Cooking Show. My goodness I’m hungry after watching those videos.

Do you guys not remember how unboxTherapy even got so big on Youtube? Just type into Youtube "Unbox Therapy fake giveaway".

Basically, the guy made a fake giveaway Youtube Ad with a literal truckload of iPhone 6's (in reality they were just empty boxes) and ended up only giving away like 11 out of the few hundred he showed on his ad. He gained millions of subs through that strategy and nobody called him out for it. Now he's a multi-millionaire from it.

That’s almost as underhand as when he created a craze of people all over the world walking into Apple Stores and causing criminal damage by bending iPhones in half. He’s now an annoying actor who is difficult to watch due to his over dramatic mannerisms and shouty script.

What’s even more annoying is I watched the video in the OP and now Unbox Therapy has crept into my suggested YouTube feed.

I cant stand unbox therapy. Just loud and annoying. I also really dislike Linus because he has an annoying whiny voice and his thumbnails are pure clickbait.

I like and subscribe to the following.

MKBHD
iJustine (I don't really see her as a reviewer though as she's very biased towards apple but her videos are still fun)
Everythingapplepro (though he needs to tone down the number of ads)
TheVerge (love these guys)
Uravgconsumer
Austin Evans

You have to give him credit for ‘working the system’, as he’s one of the many Youtubers to come up with those types of literal “giveaways”, or “free merch”, The problem is, nobody reported him and/or YouTube didn’t take action for something that he essentially promised that never happened. Since he’s never held accountable like thousands of Youtubers for those types of ‘giveaways‘, they continue to profit and do things like this all the time. There’s a specific ‘car Youtuber‘ who does that exact type of thing, and he lost lots of subscribers for that very issue.

The only guy I watch regularly is Brian Tong and now I’m thankful he stays out of the drama these guys seem to enjoy (except for his fallout with CNET).

I follow Prosser on twitter for his leaks, but his show is not for me.

I actually don’t know what happened between Brian tong and cnet. Do you have any more details?

He won’t talk about it, but he occasionally tweets about instances where he thinks CNET is copying what he is doing. So they definitely parted on poor terms, but he either won’t talk about it or can’t because of some legal reason.

One Youtuber that I miss is DetroitBorg. Don't know what happened to him, he stopped publishing videos a few years ago.

DetroitBORG is still around, but doesn’t post often it seems.

Unbox Therapy is very anti-Apple, which puts me right off him. He’s been that way for a while now.

I love Filip from EAP. He's laidback and has some of the best renders out there. Oh, and he's very easy on the eyes, if you ask me.

Jonathan comes across as very genuine and approachable. Prosser, on the other hand, is so smug and abrasive. His voice alone puts me through it.

I agree re Filip, he’s very good looking :p

Absolutely. From his perspective, that was a genius marketing tactic to propel him as one of the biggest tech youtubers. The method itself was super cunning and effective, even if it was dishonest and arguably immoral.
