You have Apple Music? The legacy star ratings were overly granular for most people, and they didn't really do anything of value. the Love/Dislike options actually help drive your Apple Music experience, so they have infinitely more value, and they will actually get used since the user can make the quick choice and move on.Haven't worked out yet how to rate songs... The pop up (three dots) has options for Love and Dislike, but don't see how to get the stars for those of us who, like a more granular rating...
An early beta isn't a place to complain about things like performance, but the whole point is to provide feedback about the software. It's not "hating", necessarily, it's close to "impressions"The new iOS 10 music app will no doubt see many tweaks throughout the next 3-4 months just like it saw some quite a few tweaks during the redesign in 8.4 beta and some more throughout iOS 9 life cycle.
So no sense hating on it quite yet. It's very obvious it's in really early stages and not even close to complete.
What do you guys think?

Sounds like you wasted a tremendous amount of time on the rating system when you could have allowed Genius to be doing most of that work for the last few years.Yes, I have Apple Music and I use the Love/Dislike buttons for that. However, I also have over 32,000 tracks in my collection, and I have a whole set of smart playlists which are driven by star rating. So while star ratings may not do anything of value to you, they are fundamental in how I use my music library. Now, do you have an answer to my question?

While I wouldn't be surprised to see the star ratings make a return before release, I also would not be surprised if they don't.
I wish I could only show downloaded music, as I could up until now.
Aren't they recommending the same playlists as iOS 9, just with a different UI?
Sounds like you really don't have a clue how I manage my music library or my listening habits. Let's hope someone can actually answer the question I asked rather than pushing their own point of view about what I should or should not be doing.
Nope. There are only a handful of recommended playlists now.

What does that look like now?My biggest complaint is how they're doing the Up Next system.
Why is it a waste of time? It was useful and probably enjoyable for this user to rate his music in a granular way, as it is for me? How does having a feature many find useful affect you? If you don't like it, you don't have to use it, but if it's removed we can't use it. I just want to add this feature being removed will break many smartplaylists that are one of the killer functions that keep me using iTunes and Apple's music app on iPhone.Sounds like you wasted a tremendous amount of time on the rating system when you could have allowed Genius to be doing most of that work for the last few years.
