I'm sure I'm using the term incorrectly, but for me (a non-Apple Music subscriber who just wants a clean Music player), having the app dominated by things like "For You" and "Radio" and the newest redundancy "Browse" is just in the way of setting up the bottom row of icons with things I might actually use. If I want to "Browse" new music, I'll go to the iTunes store app properly or any other of my music finding channels. All those added "features" just feel bloated to me in an app that should just play music you already purchased/downloaded.

You'll be able to disable them in the settings. This is pre-beta software.

I think what many of us who still mostly enjoy Apple Music weren't necessarily asking for was a ground up redesign...which we've dealt with now twice in the past 3 years (iOS 7, iOS 9) and now iOS 10. I feel that things just needed to be better organized and nipped/tucked. No one was up in arms over not having giant fonts or album art. We just want things to work as expected and have bugs fixed and better organized.

I felt they could have done that without giving us obnoxiously large fonts all over the place and endless scrolling (we shouldn't have to scroll to find the shuffle button or up next). It's almost as if someone in a meeting said " everyone thinks the app is too cluttered, so lets just make everything giant so its all separated and makes people scroll more".

I'm sure they'll fix things a bit so I'll hold out some hope.

Haven't you heard? The font sizes are a bug

They are partially. Set your system font to smallest. Go look at Music app. Now set your font to middle. Go back and look at Music app. Notice how they are actually smaller at middle. Now set your font to largest. Go back into Music app. Notice how they are back to how they looked at smallest?

That's a bug. Smallest should and will more than likely be smaller than middle setting once fixed.

It'll be all straightened out before release just like iOS 9 was right?

Did they finally add the option to view a playlist in Album view?

I’d like to use my intelligent playlists with hundreds of songs on iOS.

the music app on ios 6 was my favourite. easy switching between playlist/songs/artist (i usually shuffle in one of these three list)

ios 7 was alright but to click twice to switch on/off the shuffle and change the repeat mode was absolutely a back step and I cannot understand at all. it wasnt that it wasnt working.

since addition of apple music they were just trying to put too much, and not customisable.
i tried ios 10 and there wasnt even a shuffle button, clearly an unfinished work. but artist/album/songs/playlist in one tab and those huge front taking ⅔ of my iphone 6s screen? just ludicrous.

finger crossed they listen to the feedback.

Is it now possible to at least add playlist folders, including for Apple Music playlists? I have a huge number of them saved, but it is such a hassle to scroll through them. Any improvements there?

Nothing yet for anything like that. Possible maybe. I wouldn't even say the app is 50% finished in its current state in this build (I would say it's more like 30-40% complete right now, with only just enough to be able to play music) So anything is possible.

Do you remember this too? Tab-bar customisation? This has become extremely rare. :(

I’m not that optimistic though, but we’ll see.

Sigh.. perfection.

Not to be "that guy" but... Perfection? The latest buzzword lately around iOS 10 has been "wasted space". Well look at all that wasted space for 7 tab options even back then. Literally half the screen is blank and unused. The bar that contains the word "configure" is massive as well as the tabs at the bottom. Far from perfect.

Not everything was perfect or even all that different in the "golden age" of iOS.

It's a menu, not content. When you tap on edit in the overflow tab, this is what appeared. It's also a screenshot from an iPhone 4, the tabs were just big enough to be pleasant to use.

I do remember that! But in iOS 10 Music the main Library view lets you customize which categories appear at the top (Playlists, Artists, Albums, etc.) with similar options to the screen you posted. It's not exactly the same, but pretty similar to the tab customization you miss.

I saw that they again merged playlists and ‘my music’ together. Which is a shame too.

I see the point you're trying to make, but that was a screenshot of an "edit" window, focusing on what functions the user decided to drag to the bottom bar. It's purpose was brief, and rarely used once you set up the app the way you liked it. The actual iOS 6 Music app was absolute perfection. Perfection isn't when something more can be added, but when nothing can be taken away. It was clean, streamlined, and user customizable. All the changes since then have complicated the user experience to varying degrees.

Granted, there have been changes in iOS 7 and 8.4 that I actually liked, but it was hard to truly enjoy them when it came bundled with the loss of some other basic and useful functions.

This is what I call a beautiful now "playing screen". All that's is missing is "up next" song.

So, one now playing is from Marvis, the other is from Cesium. Which one do you like?

In my opinion, every music app except iOS 9 Music and Spotify I've used has had pretty bad, and often downright awful Now Playing screens. iOS 10 is pretty decent.
