I think Tim Cook is going to resign soon.

I have no firm evidence, but just a hunch. We've had a little too much silence from the top for a little too long.

Who will replace him? I'd like Craig Federighi to, but it will probably be someone else. I fear it may be Williams, who I dislike; he is a carbon copy of Cook, and would bring nothing to Apple. I welcome suggestions from readers.

Well he has 500 million reasons to stay for a few years, so unless the board fires him or he's done his job..I see him staying.

Are you that bored that you had to come up with a weird topic like that? Tim Cook is one of the best CEOs at the moment and he's doing the perfect job of making more and more money for Apple. Every company has ups and downs. Every company will run its course at some point. It's just the way it is, having said that, I don't think it's still time for Apple.

Tim will be removed long before he resigns. CEO's don't resign from Apple....they are removed in disgrace. Tim is making lots of $$$$. I don't see him walking away from that.

He and Jony Ive turned Apple into a fashion company showing off Bands at keynotes whilst sucking up to China every second of the day.Apple was at its BEST when Forstall and Jobs were in charge

He is busy overlooking the design and production of some new AW straps for whatever event.

"Best" is according to whose definition? Some folks on MR, or the world in general?

Why?

He's in charge of the biggest, best and most profitable corporation in the world, what would cause him to leave?

Apple's shares were $5 higher in 2011, so in 5 years, the price has fallen. Compare that to 2006-2011; it's a brutal comparison. There are many dissatisfied shareholders.

There is a growing question of whether Cook is the man to lead Apple into the future, and it seems more and more that the answer is no. His big Get out of Jail card was the financial side for several years, but even this is now deteriorating. I think that Apple is already quietly both looking for and preparing a successor to Cook. Almost all of Apple's profits still comes from products, which shows how crucial they are to Apple, and also how vulnerable Apple are to the end of growth.

I think a large part of the share's poor performance in the past year is due to the lacklustre response to the Apple Watch. Even if it finds a niche, it is clear that it is not going to replace the iPhone, or even become as big as the iPad. And that begs the question: can Apple produce another huge hit beyond the iPhone? I don't think it can.

The world in general.Who was the CEO when profits took a nosedive for the first time in a decade?Who was the CEO who is too scared to show Watch Sales upfront knowing it will result in his evaluation of being a competent CEO?
Who is the CEO who got a brilliant idea to delay waterproofing.OLED and a flush homescreen TouchID(you know,REAL UPGRADEWORTHY Features) just for the sake of a 10th anniversary and give us a phone with no antenna bands and headphone jack touting it as innovation KNOWING its not gonna halt the decrease in sales?

I cant imagine Jobs showing off Watch Bands at Keynotes.Idea would have made him cringe

If Apple had put waterproofing, OLED, and flush homescreen in previous iPhones, then what would they have for future iPhones? It seems like some of the spec lovers here would have preferred that Apple played its entire hand for the iPhone five versions ago.

When/if waterproofing *finally* comes to the iPhone in some future version, it'll be a big deal (to most iPhone owners), and I think it'll spur sales/upgrades exactly when Apple needs them... In the future, when the market is even more competitive and saturated than it has ever been in the past.

Apple's been a computer company. Apple's been a MP3-player company. Apple's been a smartphone company. Apple's been a tablet company. So whats the distain with Apple becoming a fashion company?

No Mac, iPhone and iPad upgrade is going to reverse the worldwide computer and tablet market declines or smartphone market saturation, IMO. Apple always seems to have always had its finger in other markets when the other makets it's in start to slow down.

That's not a Tim Cook exclusive phenomenon.

The world in general, how could YOU possible know that? Do you have a source that cites the "world in general" or is it a wee bit of hyperbole?

Who was CEO when there were 10 record breaking quarters in a row and apple became the most valuable company in the world?

Seems like this CEO is doing his job.

The dude seriously tried to make "iPod socks" a thing. I'm not seeing where watch bands would make him cringe.

So you believe that Apple should trickle all innovative ideas as slowly as possible, while Android makers overtake them in every aspect? (See S7 edge – not that I have or want one, but iPhone is lacking in so many areas compared to it that it's laughable. Before you begin, I'm not comparing operating systems here.)
