Who knows why the photo is blurry, I've taken worse on every phone/camera at some point, no big deal , Tim must have been caught up in the moment. (If it were a post by a high level samsung employee with the same crappy quality, it would be lampooned till the cows came home though....)

What puzzles me is why this thread is posted in the alternative to ios devices subforum?

I don't know I just don't think people in general would blast the Samsung mobile CEO for a bad pic. I doubt most even know who he is let alone bother posting threads if he did a bad pic.

The fact that people are saying switch to a galaxy just illustrates the people mimicking the 90% of Samsung marketing against the iPhone. Not even realizing its evidently helped Apple more than Samsung.

You're missing the point (on purpose?)......it doesn't matter who the CEO of Samsung is....no one knows or cares. It is Apple's biggest competitor. You cannot honestly say if this was reversed...this wouldn't be on the front of MR with a 1000 replies saying You should have used an iphone?
Like I said take the rose colored glasses off and just enjoy the humor......

But nobody caring who or what Samsung CEOs do play into what your saying. Cook is getting all this attention because he's the Apple CEO and a pretty outgoing figure. So no I disagree. I don't think if the Samsung CEO took a bad pic it'd be 1000 posts here saying he should've used an iPhone. Because he's so little known most wouldn't care.

Nope you still don't get it.....that's your choice. This has nothing to do with Tim Cook...he was just the unlucky guy that posted the shot. Nothing personal...doesn't matter who is. Just that the CEO of the richest company in the world. A company that sells the biggest selling phone in the world. Posted a very bad pic using one of his much hyped phones.
Take the company name out of it and even you would think it was humorous. Then throw in the "Shot with an iPhone" commercials and it really gets funny. :)
It just invites parodies.

So disregard it's Tim Cook, disregard it's Apple yet throw in shot with an iPhone but it doesn't matter what the person or company is. I disagree again.

It's a bad pic no doubt. But some here thinking it defines the state of the company is ridiculous. And why is this in the alternatives section?

This thread is pointless. There are two sides that will never agree. One side wants to hold Tim Cook to a ridiculous standard, the other to defend iDevices.

The only thing about this story that matters are the funny twitter comments. All the current phones on the market can take amazing photos.

The third side to point out the irony of this situation. Although I'm finding it hard to see the irony when a (probably) walking fast/running TC took a quick snap of an exciting moment and no surprise it came out blurry as every other camera probably would have.

I don't think anyone can say what would or wouldn't have happened. But even if that did happen, it would be just as inane as what actually happened.

Sigh. Just more evidence of what I've argued was happening and warned about: we've gotten to a point where Apple branding has become the main reason why apple sells Apple products, instead of actually making the best products.

Everyone sees their record breaking sales -- despite not being the best -- as a good thing. I saw it as a warning. And the evidence shows; now with one provided by Apple's CEO.
Its just a bad photo, plus we dont know the circumstances. Suddenly this one photo shows that apple lacks quality now?

As I said earlier, this should all be just a bit of fun poking at Apple and Tim Cook. There is some irony and humor in the timing given Apple's huge "shot on an iPhone" campaign. At the most, it's a little embarrassing. I still think it doesn't hurt to try to humble them a bit on social media. Maybe this'll get OIS onto the 4.7" iPhone 7, which is something we all can benefit from.

Regarding what I said earlier about this photo being yet more evidence of a greater issue for Apple, that still holds. Maybe to keep this thread lighthearted, we can shelve that topic, but it is and has been something I've argued for and tried to discuss a number of times long before Cook's photo.

Anyway, the fun of this thread has passed, so I think I'll take my leave here.

Not sure what to tell you besides that you blow things out of proportion. There is no guarantee that IOS would of even made a difference.

Yup. My S6 with OIS misfires sometimes resulting in blurry photos.

And who knows, maybe Cook was using a 6+, which has OIS.

or the af didnt work because the surface of the floor?
Probably, plus I didn't tap the screen to focus and moved the phone to confuse it lol.

In all seriousness though I think stories like the one in the thread title are tongue in cheek stuff. The pic Cook took is pretty rubbish by any standard. The thing is it could be achieved on any camera. My Canon DSLR is capable of taking a blurred picture and just about every one of my lenses has a switch on the side to activate IS. Sensors don't always react quickly enough and yet some of the more militant geeks on the interwebs expect an iPhone or smartphone to be better in this regard lol.

This is just one of those pictures that would normally be destined for the delete bin. :)

but you can always use the manual focusing with dslr.. anyway, af in phones is terrible.. i think that my iphone 6s+ cannot focused at all without the contrast enough even when you tap the screen.

i dont care much of that... when i want to take photos i use my dslr and choosing the right lens. when shooting random pics/vids i use my phone. for me the biggest issue is lacking the bokeh/depth.. pics shot by a phone are flat. i could never take "serious" photos by a phone.

You can take bad photos with a good camera and good photos with a mediocre to bad camera. I wouldn't be shouting on high that a single picture means anything. I've taken both great and bad pictures with every phone I've had that wasn't a 1520.

Those were just good.
