What sort results do people see with a RX 580 with RadeonBoost.kext loaded on a Mac Pro 5,1? I'm getting around 51000. Does that sound right? The kext appears not to be loaded.

It's a codeless kext so you won't see it loaded. If your GPU / display info containts EFI and VBIOS versions the kext does work. 51k is allright for an RX580.

benchmark works in geekbench as kext in library/extensions

openCL 71940
metal 95118

but luxmark ?

and furmark with 44fps without 59 fps !?!
Luxmark and Furmark shouldn't be affected.

I don't think this kext helps anything for OpenGL (yet?). At least not from my own test / observation. But it also won't decrease OpenGL performance.

This is my Furmark result. No RadeonBoost

This is with the RadeonBoost

That 9FPS improvement should be nothing related to the Radeon Boost kext. I ran the first test long time ago (on the first day I got my card), by that time, I haven't figure out how to downvolt the GPU yet. And the 2nd test run with Radeon Boost with PowerPlay table injected. I know I shouldn't allow two variables at the same time. However, the minor change in scores should be reasonable enough to conclude that won't affect the OpenGL performance.

You stopped using your PowerPlay Table or not? If you dropped the PPT of course you get lower scores. Try using your PPT along RadeonBoost.

Strange. This doesn't happen on Hackintoshes. Have you tried resetting PRAM / NVRAM and SMC?

No, all I did was drop the RadeonBoost.kext in /L/E, repaired permissions and rebooted. You said it shouldn't interfere with my PPT.

As soon as I removed the RB kext my score went back to normal as well as fan noise.

Strange. Maybe FE is too different from the regular Vega 64 to work with those properties :/
If you are interested we can experiment with changing parameters via private message.

So a few things changed between benches ... but still the same version of macOS and the same hardware.
Updated to a newer beta SSE4.2 emulator from @Syncretic
Added RadeonBoost
Updated WEG/Lilu versions

No, it's all original to me. If I remove the Radeonboost Kext, the fan will run normally.
I mean put a PP table inside the Radeon Boost kext to override the original fan control, and see if that fix this high fan speed issue.

This fan profile can be identical to the original one, just see if the driver can control the fan better.

New version attached in first post. Vega 64 owners please check if fans still behave abnormal.
You can remove MacPro4,1 SMBIOS support since MP4,1 are limited to El Capitan and El Capitan don't support of the Polaris/VEGA/NAVI GPUs.
