It's running in source so no reason mac shouldn't get a version

We will never get BF4 or COD

I prefer KB+M myself, but my kid plays Titanfall on my PC gaming rig with a wireless Xbox controller, and he consistently finishes at the top 2 when he isn't goofing around kicking everyone. I don't know why he gets a kick out of kicking and hitting the enemy... same with BF4... he likes knifing people for fun instead of going for the sure kill. Kids... LOL...:p

Titanfall will be released for Xbox 360 too , and used 360's are really cheap . It will not look as good as Xbox One but it still should be good enough . That is the cheapest option .

For others like myself find a game controller far more intuitive than keyboard and mouse, despite having been gaming hardcore for the last 30 years.....
You've been gaming "hardcore" since 1984? Lol sorry not trying to pick on you, just trying to imagine "hardcore" gaming on an Atari...

I've been gaming since around the same timeframe, but as I was ~7 I'm not sure I was doing anything "hardcore." I started with consoles (Nintendo) and eventually moved to PC for anything FPS/RTS and console for 3rd person action/adventure or sports.

I have a coworker who plays FPS's competitively on the XBox AND PC and he'll attest that it's just a matter of preference/practice. Personally I've never been able to feel comfortable using a controller in a FPS. If I have to consciously think about what my hands are doing then it's too much to process. With a kb+m it's just 2nd nature. Heck I remember when just adding the mouse was a revelation... "you mean you can look up and down too?"
(cue "back in my day" storytime...)

I *did* finally, somehow, convert from inverted Y axis to non-inverted. Same deal: all of a sudden I was having to think about what I was doing and it was distracting. Flipped the mouse to "normal" and it all felt natural. No clue how or why.
You have no idea what boot camping is if you think it's the same as virtualisation.
No lie, man. Way off on that one.

Anyway this is getting off-topic since it has nothing to do with Titanfall, just wanted to chime in on the controller vs kbm conversation.

You think only the Atari was out then.

I started with 3D Monster Maze on the ZX81

Followed with owning ... Spectrum 48k, Vic 20, C64, BBC Elite, Acorn Electron, Atari 2600, Spectrum 128k, NES, Amiga, Megadrive, Super Nintendo, IBM PC, 3DO, Philips CDi, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Sega Saturn, Playstation, Nintendo 64, Sega Dreamcast, Gameboy Advance, Gameboy DS, Playstation 2, GameCube, Panasonic Q, Xbox, Xbox 360, PSP, Nintendo DSi, Playstation 3, Nintendo 3DS, 3DSXL, PS Vita, Wii U, Playstation 4, Xbox One.....

Add to that my iMac G3, iMac G4, Powermac, PowerBook, MacBook, MacBook Pro, Mac Pro's etc.

So yes... Some of us have been gaming for a long long time.......

REAL GAMERS play on Apple computers and Playstations. All other options are inferior and a waste of time. ;)

The 2 systems that can't currently play the game on the tread title... LOL..:p

Sorry... just a playful poke. I respect those who have their preferences... and if you are happy with your preferences... that's all that matters. I'm a fan of technology in general... so I try to have an open mind to all platforms. I am one of those inferior windows gamers... but I do like Apple products. In fact, my wife and I are planning to buy either Mac mini, iMac, or MacBook Pro (trying to talk her into Mac Pro...:D) for her home office. I hope she gets the Mac Pro... I can't wait to play with it. I also like the PlayStation. I like PS Exclusives... I can't wait for Second Son.:)

First of all, Boot Camp is native Windows, no virtualisation. Second, I’ve been running the Titanfall beta on my late 2010 MacBook Air. All settings are set to low, but it still runs. Your MacBook Pro will handle it just fine.

you tried titanfall on 2010 air and it played? cause everywhere i read about titanfall and playing with the igpu and not discrete they said had graphic issues cause the game needed discrete gpu (650m / 750m) and couldn't play with intel's one

Minimum specs are out so I thought this may be worth revisiting.

Min: 64-bit Windows 7, 8, 8.1
AMD Athlon X2 2.8GHz or Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz
4GB RAM
512MB VRAM, Radeon HD 4770 or GeForce 8800GT

http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/02/04/titanfall-minimum-pc-specs-revealed

Would this run at all on a 2012 Macbook Air thru bootcamp? Low/mid settings? 30 or 60 fps? I have 8GB RAM. 13in model with the Intel i5.

I'm kinda in the same boat as the OP. Don't really want to buy an xbox one just for this game alone.

I think it will work, but probably not as smooth as one would want and probably you have to use the lowest settings. The MacBook Air (Mid 2012) has an Intel HD 4000 and the VRAM (video memory) counts as 1 GB (although I think it borrows the video memory from RAM).

Looking here the Intel HD 4000 in your MacBook Air is slower than the minimum recommended Radeon HD 4770 or GeForce 8800GT:

http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/mid_range_gpus.html (in this list Intel HD 4000 gets 457 points)

http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html >(in this list Radeon HD 4770 gets 1064 points)

Don't know if it's worth it. But benchmarks are benchmarks.
Maybe if you find a way to try the game on your computer without buying it.

Well clearly the title in question is not worthy of my consideration then!

I love technology myself thus my stated choices for the finest. Hehe!!! :D

I forget now but isn't this game using the source engine? So maybe it will become worthy of consideration eventually. I may even deem it a good game at that time. We shall see.

Yes, like I said all settings were at low. I went through all the tutorials and played a couple of online sessions. Frame-rate isn't great but playable. Game is great. I'm running late 2010 maxed out 13" Air. This Air has discrete graphics, GeForce 320M 256 MB.

Seems to me like it'll work fine. Just finished bootcamping and now I have Titanfall pre-ordered! Looking forward to playing this with a dualshock 4 :)

Hmmm, I'm wondering if this game will get me to (a) get the dust off my xBox 360 or (b) buy a xBox One. I've got bootcamp on my Mac, so if I delete a few games, I can load this on there as well.

There seems to be a number of options. I wonder which one will be best.

Does anyone know if Xbox one and 360 will be able to play together? Then I could play with my one friend who has a One. I assume there will be no cross playing between PC and Xbox because of consistent issue that Keyboard and mouse gives too big an advantage over controller in competition.

I believe Xbox one and PC can play together but not 360

If you use a controller then there is a certain amount of aim assist to counter the advantage of using k/m

Oh that would be cool if they finally figured that out to allow the two groups to compete.

Also it would allow me to spend $60 to play the game at a nice display rate instead of $560. Though if I got the XBone I would then get the game downstairs on my couch and projector (100" screen for the win!).

It will be interesting if the official reviews still see this game as a seminal step like the beta reviews and hype suggest.

There isn't much advantage between the kb+m and Xbox controller from what I've seen. My kid played Titanfall beta from day one to close on my PC gaming rig with a wireless Xbox controller, and he consistently finishes at the top 2 in matches with mostly max level 14 players.

I personal think it's a bad idea to mix Xbox one and PC players together. PC's could have an unfair advantage over Xbox one players... and I'm not talking about kb+m vs controller.

One thing is that PC players can play at higher resolution. The Xbox beta could only do 720p, and there is talk that it go up to 900p when it releases. PC players already can play at 1080p, 1440p... and there are a lot of PC gamers that play on 120hz to 144hz monitors with higher FPS... which helps decrease input lag. If you don't think that makes a difference, my kid plays BF4 on the PS4 on 42" TV and his KDR is average... but his KDR is a lot better playing BF4 on my PC on 120hz 24" monitors.

I think another unfair advantage is there are PC players that play with 3 monitors (Nvidia Surround, Eyefinity)... like myself... in 5760x1080 or 7680x1440 resolution. The field of view is a lot wider, and you can spot enemies on the side monitors that others can't see playing on a single monitor or TV.

For those reasons, I don't think it's a good idea... but I could be wrong. I think it's cool if they can mix both PC and Xbox one players to compete against one another.:)

There isn't an advantage because those who use controllers are getting aim assistance. Otherwise, you'd see it.

I didn't use the controller when I played it so I didn't know about the aim assist on the PC Xbox controller... but it makes sense to why my kid was keeping up so easily. I'm grounding my kid for cheating... LOL... So maybe it will work to mix both Xbox and PC players??? but I still think PC's might still have an unfair advantage for the other reasons in my previous post. Should be interesting if it happens.

I'm so torn. I want to play this game, but not sure I want to make the switch to PC to do it. Am considering the Titanfall Xbox One bundle or picking up an old 360. Then I still have to pay for Live and I already have a PS4 where I will play all the 3rd parties because of superior performance. Ugh.

Found a great deal on a lenovo gaming laptop, but then I would have to part ways with my Air.

What would you guys do? Decisions, decisions...
