I'm so torn. I want to play this game, but not sure I want to make the switch to PC to do it. Am considering the Titanfall Xbox One bundle or picking up an old 360. Then I still have to pay for Live and I already have a PS4 where I will play all the 3rd parties because of superior performance. Ugh.

Found a great deal on a lenovo gaming laptop, but then I would have to part ways with my Air.

What would you guys do? Decisions, decisions...

I'm also thinking about the XBone Bundle. I don't use my xBox 360 anymore, but I was using it a lot up to a year ago. I don't think I'm completely done with console play. Also when I do play console, I play on my 720p projector. So the XBone's limitation isn't a limitation for me because it is all my projector can output.

An update for anyone who may be curious:

So I got Titanfall and it does indeed run. Does it run well? I can get around 60fps at 720p when I have everything set on low, which is kind of a bummer because I'm not used to seeing such horrible graphics. The framerate can turn to crap quickly when there are a bunch of titans in one area. Using the DS4, I've come in at the top in almost every match so I don't think I'm at a disadvantage at all.

Overall, I think I should've waited for it to be less than $60, but I'm glad I didn't go out and spend $560 on an xbone to play it.

Anyone test this on a 2013 13" rMBP yet? I am waiting for someone to post if it is playable or not.

Nice. Don't think I'd have any issue setting it to 720p.

I'm on a 2012 Air though. What kind of graphics does your Macbook Pro have? That one doesn't have a dedicated card, right?

I have a Nvidia GT 600m with 1 gb VRAM. It's the dedicated GPU that comes with the 15".

I'm just curious, did you install the latest Nvidia Drivers under bootcamp? (You'll have to modify them but the new driver is much better than the one Apple provides)

Thanks,
-P

I installed the ones that Nvidia released yesterday, yes.

Ah. Gotcha. Air definitely wouldn't run it well then.

I'm in almost the exact same boat as you (as a PS4 owner). The XB1/Titanfall bundle makes it a little more appealing, but I'm still not sure I want to spend that.

Yeah unfortunately I wouldn't think so. It definitely is a fun game but I'm not sure it's worth the $500 if money is tight. If you have a 360 you should consider getting it for that.

No 360. Always been a Sony/Nintendo guy. I've mainly been considering the XB1 to replace my Wii U as kind of a 2nd console. Mainly for exclusives.

If you have the money and are going to get one anyway, absolutely go for it. I'll be getting one in the future for sure but just can't afford it at the moment.

So if anyone is interested I uploaded a video of Titanfall running at 60 fps on a 13" 2013 rMBP.

All settings are on low except I put textures at medium and it actually looks pretty good and runs extremely well.

Fps can drop to half when there are lots of titans on screen but the game is buttery smooth for the most part.

You can also get the game for 33 dollars us if you buy it from the Russian Yuplay site (use Chrome to translate page)

Here's a youtube link of me getting my ass kicked

Why not buy a half way decent gaming PC and you still can keep your mac if you like Apple better and you can have a half way decent gaming pc to play Titanfall on.

Hi everyone,

I have a late 2012 iMac with the following specifications:

Can someone please give me advice whether I could run Titanfall smoothly?

Thank you!

Those specs are similar to mine. You should be able to run it ok.

Well, I bought Titanfall yesterday (not from Origin though) and Iam damn angry, the game stutters like hell! No matter what graphics settings I set, lowest or highest, the game stutters/freezes every 2 - 3 seconds for a second or so, everytime I try to look around with mouse. I tried the trick with Vsync, but no luck. Although there is around 60fps, stuttering is making the game totally unplayable.

My cMBP should run it, I have bootcamped Win 8.1, newest nVidia drivers, Core i7 2.3Ghz, 8GB RAM, 650m GT 512 VRAM.

It looks like to me there is not enough VRAM, but the minimum/recommended GPU also has only 512 VRAM and other people are playing it too with cMBP, so I don't know.

Anyone got an idea, or ran it on the same machine?

It's down to the Textures, set them to low and try again.

Although there's something odd going on with the game, they've already artificially limited some GPU's so they can't even run the game.
Plus a friend is having a similar issue with a GTX 570.

I have a GTX660, and despite having played the game before this messaged popped up yesterday. :/

That is seriously weird! But I have the lowest settings possible, even resolution, sadly :(

It might be down to the DX11 features they're using. The Source Engine itself is DX9, and they have modified it for their purposes.

Although it seems there are still a few random bugs. Do note the game LOVES RAM, both system and VRAM.

Some people even report having a memory leak, where they crash or start lagging due to RAM being used up. Then having to restart.

Looks like a big patch might be needed.
