Edwin - can you confirm if this will be available as SteamPlay at some point? Folks have commented in the announcement post that this will be, but I can't find any true confirmation if that is the case. Thanks!

Yes, we mentioned it will be SteamPlay title. I can confirm that 100%.

it runs well with 750m?

Yes, please note if your card is supported then it will run well. That's what we mean by supported :)

If you have a new machine you can expect higher settings compared to a Mac from 2009 for example.

FYI to those interested, you can get a steam key on Amazon right now for $9.

Way to go, also why pay nearly £35 for a digital download (Mac App Store) just so you run a game on Mac when you can just boot into Bootcamp and then buy a hard copy for £9.98.

Hey there,
could you tell me when it will be available on steam and do you know about steam cloud save game usage between OS X and Windows now?

Edit: Just saw it will be on steam on January 30. But do you know about steam cloud compatibly yet?

FYI if you buy a Steam key from a third party PC game site the sale goes to the PC even if the game is activated on the Mac.

Outside of the Steam store it is impossible to tell if the sale was activated on Mac or PC so the sale is credited to the OS you selected in the store. So if you buy a Mac key from a store by going via their Mac area then Feral get the sale, if you buy a key from the PC area of the Store then the sale goes to Square Enix as a PC sale.

If you buy the game on Steam they can see what OS you have been using and select the right platform to credit the sale to.

Mac uses Steam cloud between Mac computers :) but the game is NOT cross platform compatible with Windows due to how the PC game packages the save game format.

Just thought it might be safer to ask -- If I download the Mac version from Steam later next week (yay!), when I start up a game, is there any possibility that when my save file on Mac is uploaded to Steam's servers it's going to overwrite the progress I've made on the PC version?

Wow, it never even occurred to me that this could be the case. Many places where you buy Steam keys (such as greenman gaming) you can't even select a platform. And there are Mac games on Amazon where you can't select a Mac version, such as XCOM. And the PC version is selected by default, even if you're viewing the page on a Mac. Since I didn't know this, most of the time I don't even bother selecting the "right" platform. If I were you guys I'd be mad about this.

IMO this sort of information is important to mac gamers and should be more widely publicized somewhere, not buried in a forum. (At the very least, we should have a "Make sure Aspyr and Feral Get Paid" sticky here and on IMG.)

Not unless you're in the US, it isn't!

As long as a game isn't region locked, you can use a fake address. TR isn't.

It'll be SteamPlay next week--no need for Bootcamp.

FWIW this runs great even on my aged iMac 2010 with the ATI 5750 gpu. Impressive work there.

" It'll be SteamPlay next week--no need for Bootcamp "

Rather pay £9.98 and use Bootcamp than £30 odd for a digital download :)

By all accounts the story is only 12 to 15 hrs long.

My point was that the game is Steamworks, so you can buy it anywhere––hard copy or otherwise––and you can use it in OS X on the 30th.

(Note Eddieduck's post above--a PC hard copy purchase won't give Feral any money, even if activated in OS X.)

didnt realise that Ed and thats really unfair on you guys. with greenmangaming it only has pc listed for most things but I've bought games there, added to steam and installed only the mac game.

what happens with humble bundle then because that doesn't ask you to choose, merely lists all the formats the game is available on steam for.

We specifically use different save file names and locations on the Mac so Mac and PC players can safely play on both platforms without losing saves (we do this during testing at Feral).

Unless is it Mac specific the sales percentage goes to the PC publisher.

It's fairly complex but I will try and get a "how it works" FAQ written up if I can. Steam keys are a pretty complex beast :)

Awesome, thanks! It's weird how much I enjoy this game. I actually look forward to having it on both partitions of my tiny Air hard drive.

I'm not that bothered about a few pounds, I already bought the game many months ago on Steam when it was £7, but are you suggesting making up a US mailing address? Just pick a random address from a US web site? How does anyone know if a game is region locked or not?

Yep. I've done the reverse for UK-only kindle eBooks--I picked a random London hotel---and it's worked fine. As for finding out if there's a region lock, that's a bit trickier. Publishers irritatingly don't usually declare if something's locked. You have to search or ask in a forum or something.

Finally, game is out for mac. The thing that I am curious about availability on mac, So I have bought this game on steam and it does not display on steam library yet. My question is, is this game only going to be available on just app store ? if it is, I just threw 15 dollars away then. :(:(

cheers, do you notice from steam figures whether you lose out due to this much, ie when a particular game sells a lot on pc (possibly due to humble bundle or a greenmangaming or amazon sale) and then gets installed on a lot of macs?

That assumes that you've already bought a copy of Windows. I haven't.

Still waitin for some kind person to up this to a torrent site of their choice... :)

Words can't even describe my thoughts on your post (but I'll try to get my point across). If you want to steal the game and not give money towards the developers who work hard to make the games (not just the Mac but the original game too) that is very disappointing.

It's also against the forum rules to actively suggest piracy! I might be a little heavy in this post but then again my livelihood depends on people obeying the law and paying for games which in turn pays my salary. Without people buying games I won't be able do what I love doing and that is making Mac games. It also means you won't get as many games as we won't get enough revenue to port them.

Simply put if everyone had your attitude of stealing games everyone loses as you would have no games.
