I am using it on an iMac and on a Macbook Pro, the Macbook Pro (i5, 8gb ram) boot faster than the iMac (i7, 16gb ram), why?

On the macbook it doens't show the wheel, on the iMac it do a half turn.

This patch is just one of thousands of factors that affect your boot speed. Your question does not have an answer.

After I've patched and I run xbench I get very poor results for Uncached Read [4K blocks]. So bad it hangs for a couple of seconds and gives a beachball.

Trim support is shown as Yes through system profiler.

oops the interface file was totally, broken, will fix

EDIT: fixed, try again

Nice job mate! Works well so far on 1st gen macbook.

This also solved my other mystery problem. Files I tried to copy to my server would constantly be in use. I also wouldn't be able to empty the trash because the files would be in use again. I ran a chmod on the files, still worked fine and the permission changed properly. I then ran a chmod on the whole damn directory and lo and behold all these invisible TRIM something or other files couldn't be modified.

Sorry I don't have more info but something was definitely screwy. I never restored my old one before the new update so it may have been still running the old version, may not have been.

Just came across this thread and downloaded the updated version to my 2008 Mac Pro with a G2 Intel SSD. Installed it, rebooted, then ran as per the directions. Does appear to boot/run faster but am not seeing TRIM enabled in my System Profile window. Does this mean that it did not take/is not working?

Lion GM is out. Any plan to release this to Lion, or only after this is official release?

trim not showing = ssd doesnt support or needs firmware upgrade

current patch works fine in Lion but working on new TRIM Enabler that will modify your current driver instead of replacing it. this will make trim enabler work on every future update.

Oh, this sounds great!

Thank you!

Just want to know if my OCZ Vertex 3 240G can use Trim Enabler or not.
This drive's packaging is saying it support Trim.
However, some Mac user in this forum said, OCZ has good GC, no need to bother the Trim.
So, I am not sure I should try Trim Enabler or not.

BTW, my SSD's firmware is 2.06, and currently not yet Trim supported showing in system profile.
And my iMac is 2011 mid i7 3.4GHz with 16G RAM, Mac OS X 10.6.8.

Thanks for any info or help.

thank u Cindori

just wanted to say thank u to Cindori.

i just finished reading the 30 pages on this thread... every SINGLE post... i read... up to post 740.

this thread is one of the best threads on MR (should be sticky-ed). love it when u see the internet hive-minds working together to solve a problem!

i gotta say though, i felt bad for Cindori when people would ask the same questions 5000x. LOL.

Hi guys please help!
I just got the Intel 320 120gb. I will be installing fresh OS X. After I ran TRIMenabler. I have to go to terminal and type exactly like this:

sudo chown root:admin /
sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel
sudo kextcache -system-caches

Or is this for the older TRIMenabler? Do i download TRIM ENABLER version 1.1 or 2 Cheers!

this is still applicable no matter the version. although the developer did state that the application automatically runs the terminal commands, most people on the forum had to do the terminal codes manually.

So run this code if I run into problems like lagging time booting up? I am planning to stay at 10.6.7 so does it matter if I use TrimEnable version 1.1 or 2?

I hav noticed my SSD to be noticeably faster after I ran the newest version again. Also, a Vertex2 in my other computer started to work full-steam.

I've got an MBA 3,2 with os 10.6.8 and TRIM enabled. I erased free space once when I had os 10.6.5 or something like that. But this made my boot time goes like hell, it was very very slow, so I had to re install my SN from USB

My question is, with TRIM enabled already, will boot time go as fast as what I have right now? Does anybody have tried to erase free space on his MBA 3,2?

Thank you in advance :apple:

With my drive trim does not like to work well I get hangs like it has trouble accessing it or something so you may be better off without it like I have done.
