All iPhone XS models seem to be suffering from a poorly calibrated True Tone. It favors warm temperatures more, and isn’t sensitive to cool room temperatures from my testing.

The yellow is too severe, and won’t adapt to a blue room unless the bulbs shine closer to the iPhone XS, my old iPhone X doesn’t have this problem.

I set mine to auto activate at sunrise/sunset. When it's on after sunset, it's great for my eyes and not as harsh. Love true tone.

On. Can't stand the whiter/blue look.

You might be better off with Night Shift with the lowest warm temperature then. True Tone will make your screen even more blue depending on the room’s color temperature.

Looks good on my iPhone 8+ which has an LCD panel but too yellowish on my Xs Max which has OLED panel.

Off. Tried to like it but never got on with it. Always does too much yellowing.

But i turn on night shift at 9pm-8am

Does True Tone and night shift nice with each other? Or does night shift once activated take precedence?

On and do as below. Credit from another MacRumors member but I can’t find the original thread now.

“Thought my screen tone is just way too warm when I started using the phone, so did some adjustment to make it more natural.

Go to Settings->General-> Accessibility ->Display Accommodation->Color Filter-> Switch to ON->Check Color Tint-> Scroll Intensity & Hue all the way to the right ->Adjust Hue to the left so that the screen color from Red to Purple-ish (Towards Blue). Once you determine the sweet point, scroll intensity all the way to the left. Now you should have a much better display tone.”

Thanks for this. Just got my XR and it’s my first True Tone device. Off was way too blue/white for me and on was a tad warm/yellow. Found the sweet spot adjusting color tint.

Iphone xs here, for the first time since thr true tone has been introduced, i have it off on my new shiny xs.

Always off, I prefer a neutral white point, and the color profile of the iPhone X is a bit on the warm side anyway.
This. With 8+ I had it on always. Had XS for a day and it isn’t TOO warm with TT on but I prefer it off during the day.

On my OLED TV which I had professionally calibrated its warm to people that have their TV's on out of the box neutral but it looks stunning and colours are true to life as much as you can get on each variation of OLED screen and TV model. On the XS I prefer True tone and how how it changes depending on my environment, after using it for a month turning it off looks glaringly bluish white, not natural at all.

Thanks... This is a great solution for my XS. True Tone is way too warm for me, and the screen is a little blue with True Tone off. With True Tone OFF, and Night Shift ON very low, my XS is looking terrific.
