this is nothing new. there are lots of people in certain parts of the country that are now able to use MMS.

as for myself, I'm in the Orlando, FL area and it's been working great since last week.

but I never received any magical over the air carrier update. I had to manually install mine.

same here i updated my carrier files today and i have mms working perfectly in sacramento, ca

I've got no dice but others are reporting that it is working in Chicago. It's somewhat apparent that this isn't dependent upon location.

Edit: I know for a fact that I don't have it enabled yet because I cannot send a MMS to phonenumber@mms.att.net without it being rejected.

That's what it seems like. Besides 1 person (at least from what I've seen), it seems like the common denominator here is being on a family [text] plan, which was what was needed back when 3.0b1 was released if I'm not mistaken.

Some are getting it on their standard iPhone text plans but nothing else. It's not a surprise that it's not based on location but just whatever order you happen to pop up in their system.

Hm, interesting. Oh well, nothing we can do except wait. You would figure with all the practice that we've had we would be better at it lol.

Exactly. I'm just going to check it every night or morning to see if it just happens to be enabled and if it isn't before the 25th then whatever, that's life.

I don't expect at&t to be done by the 25th, either. They'll screw up somehow.

Haha yeah, I'm sure they'll find a way to botch things come the 25th.

I told everyone to send MMS messages to my email for the past year now...MMS is kind of pointless to me now, lol

AT&T knew what they were doing

I have it working on both my mine and my wides phone but I can't send MMS if I am on wifi. If wifi is turned off then no problem. Second is anyone else experiencing a lag in sending. The status bar moves quickly then stops when it is almost done and hangs for up to 10 to 15 seconds.

I'm on t-mobile and it does the same for me. I think it stalls for everyone at the end.

How do you test the MMS? Excuse me for being noobish, I have never text messaged much before, and never used MMS. :)

Maybe I don't know what I am missing. :)

Glad that they finally got around to this. Sucks that I have to wait so long to use it. I had a lot of complaints from my mother about not being able to send pictures of her grandson while we were out.

OK, i got a weird problem and need help.

I have 3.0 JB and loaded the updated carrier file from Killer.

Rebooted and can successfully send MMS.

However, when my sister tries to send me MMS back, I completely lose my cell connection. It goes to "searching..." then reconnects to 3G and I never get the MMS.

I have reset my network settings and still the same problem.

Another way is to put sim in a different phone and see if works. I did and it failed.

I may do carrier file so if enabled early I can try it while on vacation.

Mine is working on 3G not Wifi.. SW FL...... :D that is with the new carrier update.

OS 3.1.. family text plan... iTunes 9

If you need the carrier file I used I can e-mail it to you.

That's my plan. I'm just going to try every day or so and if it works, great, if not, whatever.

Working in Phoenix, AZ after countless hours of non-working. 3.0.1 and Carrier Update 5.1

I would like to recomend the following steps to those who have not yet tried.

Steps I took:
Updated carrier settings with 5.1 and reboot
Take sim, put in other AT&T phone
Log into AT&T account via cingular.com
Change phone from iphone to other AT&T phone
Change text message plan from "iPhone Text Messaging Unlimited" to "Messaging Unlimited"
Sent test message
Put sim Back in iphone
Camera icon present and sent test message to self...now works flawless.

PS. MMS worked when wifi turned off, however, after entering in all the wap settings works now with wifi turned on.

Working in Ohio using the same carrier file 5.0 from months ago when we enable mms and tethering.
It was NOT working this morning. I read a thread on another forum with some steps to do and it WORKS. I texted my wife to do on her phone and hers works, too.

downloaded the 5.1 carrier file and MMS is working but my Visual Voicemail no longer works..argh

Noob question time:

What's supposed to happen when I type "defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE" into terminal (OS X)?

Because it does nothing except bring up the prompt again.

Also, I am unable to select the ATT file I saved to desktop when I Alt click "Update" in iTunes.

What am I doing wrong? lol

I'm on 3.1 beta 3 with carrier 4.5(was 5.0) and mms is working.
