The Orinoco framebuffer is the correct one...

I have to admit, the incorrect framebuffer was a problem with my Nitro+ card, maybe it's not a problem with a regular Pulse card. I don't know, you'll know when you receive the card and test it in High Sierra, it behaves the same in both operating systems...
@OneyedK I have the same Nitro+ card, but I do not see the problems with RadeonFramebuffer. Or what kind of issues should I experience?

With small white letters on a black background, it's like the color convergence of the monitor is faulty. The edges of the white are colored. Both on DP and HDMI outputs, perfect on DVI output.

Thank you for your answer. I seem not to have the same issue.

I seem to have a similar problem on my RX580 pulse plugged in via DP or hdmi.

I had an issue with small black text on a light background (such as finder file lists), I have colouration to the outline of the text characters. Turning off “LCD smoothing” in the preferences stopped the issue but obviously text isn’t as smooth.

Running 10.13.6 on 3x 27” Dell QHD monitors.

Try to force the UI to run at HiDPI may able to fix the font issue.

e.g. in my case, my CHG90 is a 3840x1080 monitor. I intentional select 3840x1080 HiDPI (which means render at 7680x2160), and then let the GPU downscale back to 3840x1080. It will give you better font than any other setting in native 3840x1080.

In system info, should looks like this.
3840x1080 30bit.png

As you can see, the font rendered at a very smooth way with no discolouration at the edge (which is actually part of the font smoothing). So, when it downscale back to 3840x1080. It will looks smoother than normal setting, and no discolouration regardless which font smoothing setting you use.

Thanks for the help "h9826790", ive tried forcing HiDPI but I only see an option for 1280x720 HiDPI, not one for 2560x1440, any idea how I may get this option to try it?

Use This

http://resxtreme.com

1) Click the triangle next to your monitor's ident to expend the list

2) Click "Scale" button to sort the list with all HiDPI (x2) options at the top

3) Double click the setting you want

If you monitor support 10bit and high frequency, you may select that as well

I received my brand new Sapphire Pulse RX 580 8GB today, installed with the proper power cable 18AWG and the mini display to display adapter on my 24" Apple LED Cinema Display and I have to say.....that I have a boot screen on what it looks, I even done several restarts and the cMP (4.1 to 5.1) boots with no problem, I have the black screen just a little bit longer but then afterwards I have the grey Apple Logo screen with the progress bar, then the desktop. For me it is a WIN in any case, and I can't complain for 1 second. Best move, ever made with Mojave 10.14 and the Boot ROM Version: 138.0.0.0.0:):):)

Here's the true test of whether you have boot screens. Reboot and as soon as you hear the chime, hold down the Option key on your keyboard. Keep it held down for 30 seconds.

Do you get the boot picker/startup manager screen? Similar to this

If not then you don't have boot screens. If you do get that screen with your RX 580 then you would be the only member of a very exclusive club! ;)

The boot screen you are seeing is actually a Splash Screen. Yes, depending on how fast your drive loads the OS, that screen will show.

What people here are complaining about is the “Boot-Picker” screen (AKA Bootloader or Boot Manager). I’m sure you don’t get that.

Oh well, I’m stuck on a black screen all the way, holding the option key. How do I get an image back again now?????....found it...by doing a restart.....still have the boot apple grey screen so it is cool anyway.:)
Is there a way to get that screen with the disk start up options, in any way possible....just in case? Thank you

Nope. That's the trade-off all 560 & 580 users must make in order to use that card in our cheese graters. If you still have the original GPU from your Mac you should hold onto it in case you need boot screens for troubleshooting purposes in the future (those old cards aren't worth much these days anyway).

Allright, I’ll hang on my Gigabyte 7970.
Thank you

Indeed...
Since the display card definitely can do that. Even my 7950 can do this "forced HiDPI" on the 27" 2560x1440 Apple Cinema Display. I can only assume it's the monitor

It will work natively, but only with Radeon Framebuffer, not Orinoco Framebuffer.

That's amazing new Flocarino, I'm still waiting on my power cable to arrive.... but hoping that as soon as it does I can install and get back up and running and macOS Mojave ready!!

Did it take long to install ? and was it difficult to install as the most I have ever done to my Mac Pro 12 Core (Mid 2010) was install extra RAM... :)

I have just done it. It took maybe 15 mins total with unplugging and replugging all cables. See this video on youtube. Everything is pretty straightforward. It's a pity I did not know about the cable issue before getting this card, so had to wait few days longer until the Dual Mini PCI-E 6-Pin to Standard PCI-E 8-Pin cable from modDIY.com has arrived.

Hello Anto, no it does not take long at all, But I’m use to tinker inside my Mac, upgraded twice the processors(lidded), withouth a glitch, RAM, SSD’s, Airport and Bluetooth, 3 graphic cards, blue ray writers, etc...I take great care of this Mac, the best I ever owned, and I owned a lot in 30 years(list is too long;))
It took me about 10-15 minutes to install it. First, start with the Y powercable on the motherboard, then install the GPU, and finally connect the 8 pin power cable to it. The thing that bug me the most was the PCIe metal bar holder with the 2 bolts, I had to use both hands to screw the bolts in properly, but maybe that’s just me:D
Otherwise, it is straight forward and if you have an Apple LCD Cinema Display, just make sure you have the proper adapter.....just take your time, it’s the key of success;)

Hi Stiwi... could you send me the exact link to the power cable you bought... I bought one from Amazon... but I didn't know it was China... could take another month or so...or never arrive :( I have all the other bit good to go... just need these power cables... the one I purchased had all I need in one cable... I will go for two individual ones now if I have to.

Cheers Flocarino... sounds like you are seasoned PRO at this upgrading malarky for sure... :) I will follow that video carefully too.... and taking my time if the way to go for sure... not to stress and force any parts.

I would love to get Continuity on my MacPro 12 Core (Mid 2010), also the very best computer I have ever owned, at the time cost me €10,000, maxed out version, but it has served me very well these past 8 years and made it's money many many times over. I'm hoping this video card upgrade keep me in the game for another while until the new MacPro 2019 arrives... :)

Is it easy to upgrade the Bluetooth to be Continuity compatible...? Would a third party USB Bluetooth dongle work..?

I bought exactly this cable, it has been recommended before on this forum. You can use next10 coupon to make it 10% off. They ship from Hong Kong.
