I am guessing no one in the UK has had their order status move to 'Shipped' then?

For complex reasons I’m currently using an old iMac late 2009, patched for Catalina. But it’s obviously not great. Since I’m on a tight budget and no new iMacs anyway, I was thinking of getting a Mac mini and using the iMac as a monitor for now.. possible?! HDMI or thunderbolt to old DisplayPort?!

I think I’ll get 8gb (still more ram than other macs I’ve edited video on) and 512 hard drive as I use iCloud a lot and keep video files on an external drive.

Will my skinflint solution to get a new better Mac work?!
I've never tried it but if you search around for the phrase 'Target Display Mode' you should find some instructions.

Tempted to do this but I qualify for education pricing. Does the Apple Store have any similar finance options?
I tried earlier in the year to finance an education purchase and Apple doesn’t allow it for some reason.
I’ll be financing my wife’s Air through Amazon and purchasing my Mini from the education store in January.

BTO options don't appear to be available on Amazon yet, i.e. no 16 GB RAM models. I'll see how much £££ I make over Christmas and hope for the best in the new year..

That’s my reasoning for the education store for my Mini. I want 16gb, not bothered about extra storage as I have file servers and cloud storage.
The wife however is upgrading from a 2012 4gb Air, she only writes essays and video chats with it. Her current Air spins the fans up to full within 20 seconds of starting a zoom or teams meeting and I’ve replaced the thermal paste and fan. So a base Air will do her just fine.

Anyone with “shipped” status there?
Not for me - it has moved back 2 days since ordering:

Shipping in the UK does not take long - usually the next day, even with the 'slowest' option selected.

In the US, I just financed an education store purchase using the Apple Card - 12 months @ 0%:

I wish the tracking wasn't so opaque on Apple's status page. I find it hard to believe it's not shipped yet but we aren't able to follow its journey until it starts from a UK destination, which would make it much more fun.

As nice as that is, it doesn’t help those of us in the UK where there is no finance on the education store and no Apple Card.
I think people get from get confused when something doesn't relate to the US.

Ah, the US, the land of 120% mortgages.

Shipped.

Syncreon shipping tracking.

Due to tomorrow, signature required.
Same! Nice surprise to wake up to as Apple originally said Wednesday.

Screenshot 2020-11-16 at 07.31.33.png

No information on Syncreon yet though, saying "Order not yet within the carrier network. Please check again later." I think it ends up in DPD or similar via Syncreon though.

My Syncreon page has updated with a DHL tracking number (doesn't yet work).

Syncreon status is SHIPMENT PICKUP as of 10 mins ago.

Also got my shipping notification this morning saying it's coming tomorrow instead of Wednesday!

Coming via DPD which I'm very happy about. Never had the ability to pick an hour time slot before either with DPD so that's cool!

I want to buy one of these but Apple store now shows late November to early December generally speaking.

Anyone have any idea if these will show up for click and collect at Apple Stores? No pickup option is showing yet on the store.
