Traffic lights are doing a very unsettling dance. I wonder what their wind tolerance is?

What I find strange is people don't seem to follow stand rules anymore and just blow though down street lights! I still today stop and down traffic lights and follow them like a stop sign rules!

Man it cold but my Mother (May god rest her soul) always said to me the February is ALWAYS the snowiest month of winter and it's turning true!

Agreed, it's supposed to be treated as a four way stop. Not go at your own risk.

For a swath of the Rockies and High Plains, the snowiest month of the year is March, or even April.

Alaska-based climatologist Dr. Brian Brettschneider examined monthly snowfall data from 4,218 observation sites across the United States which receive an annual average of at least 2 inches of snow. The most common snowiest month among those sites is January, followed by December, then February.

And, if you think it's been cold, wait until the first week of March. The Deep Freeze is coming...

Spring really doesn't start here until late April, and then in a month it jumps right to summer.

Sometimes we joked down in NYC that if you blink, you miss Spring. It does tend in the city to go from "awww... look, the crocuses are coming up in the sidewalk squares where trees are planted!" to "Man, how can it be this hot in April?"

Up here in the mountains' boondocks we also joke about missing Spring if we blink, but it's more during winter's odd two-day thaw cycles between deep freezes.

"Oh, was that Spring? How could it be so brief?"

"Nope, that was Spring, Summer and Fall..."

Been pretty mild here on the front range. Temps in or near the 50s. Big cool down coming over the weekend though.

Sounds like winter is showing up late as usual. Two big rounds of snow coming this weekend.

Yup snow coming to a lot of us real soon. Then real cold week. Then maybe I could put my heavy jacket away, @LizKat ?

Hah, don't ask me, I just keep my eye on that fill-in-the-blank rodent... if he doesn't see his shadow next time he comes out to watch the snow plow guy devastate my apple gear budget, maybe we can call that a Spring day... even if it's only 22 degrees out, will seem like a heat wave after these cold snaps. I'm not putting my parka away this year until the glaciers the dude has piled up at the ends of my driveways are all gone.

It will also warm up and finally I will put the big heavy winter jacket away for the year and take out my puffy jacket.

Please stay safe and warm. Coldest weather since the polar vortex in (2014?) across North America. Heard -30/-40 wind chills in the Plains and possibly more snow on the way for Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and other Great Lakes States.

We will thaw the Canadians out in a few months.
It's nice and warm in Vinnytsia (Ukraine).

Just wait for a few of them to crash. Then you'll have a roundabout instead of a four way stop.
They are building those around here. I must say they are not as bad as I thought they would be. But people don't know how to drive in those either.
