Yeah I’m not clued up on how big a difference the 8 vs 10 core will make. I’m sure we’ll see more about it soon enough.

Agree with the ram which was my comment alluded too, I go with the ‘get what I can, not what I currently need’ moto. My workflow could change in a few years and I don’t want to be regretting it
What did you go for?

I'm thinking 10 cores and 32 GB ram to last me 4-5 years

I have a problem with Barclays partner finance.

I chose finance as the payment and it gave me a link to click but when I clicked it nothing opened and it timed out.

The link then didn’t work again and I haven’t had any emails from Barclays. I didn’t even get to fill out the finance form.

Has anyone else has this problem? Apple said they don’t know what is happening and to contact Barclays tomorrow.

It’s not 0% is it? 14.9%

Maybe putting on a interest free card might be better?

Does anyone have an idea (or at least an informed opinion) on whether these might actually support daisy-chaining monitors through displayport MST? Would be nice to be able to cut down on cable clutter slightly.

Finally bit the bullet. running a 2013 MacBook pro and every year there has been something which has made me say, next year they will sort/add it, next year they will sort/add it. This upgrade seems like they have really thrown the kitchen sink at it. the only rumour i didn't think would be true which was going to make me wait another year was the 120hz screen. When i saw that i thought ive got to get it. Gone for the top end M1 pro and managed to get my cousins uni days discount. wanted the m1 max but the price jump is so big due to the mandatory ram upgrade and i really dont need it. This is literally future proofing a web browser/youtube watcher ?

Just ordered 14-inch base + 16GB + 1TB. My old MBP last about 6 years and now battery is really bad and it randomly turns off when I'm not charging. Hope this one last longer.

Yes, didn’t think the proMotion was coming until they finally dropped it!

Ordered the second 14” stock - 10 core, 16 gpu, 16gb ram 1tb, 96w charger.

Do wonder wether I should have just gone with the max option and 32gb as it’s unified. but it’s done now.

Order note says, see you next Tuesday ;)

Wondering if I should go from 1TB to 512GB and bump to 32GB RAM… storage has ways around it. I just can’t see me needing so much RAM later.
That was basically my thinking. Honestly 32GB is probably overkill for me, but on the off chance that things change it was worth it, and getting half that money back by going to 512GB was worthwhile when I've got in the vicinity of 10TB worth of fast external storage made sense

Oh cock. I've just learned that you need the 96W power adapter to get the quick charge. I would have gone for that at £20, but don't think it is worth cancelling the order and adding a weeks delay to it (or paying £79 for a separate charger).

I wish apple would make these kinds of things explicit to users.

Agreed. Not sure I could deal with this whole ‘pre order straight away’ business. You can get away with it on a phone due to limited options but the MacBook Pro has multiple options and lots to digest

Ok cancelled my 14” and gone for the 16”. Using unidays it saved about £700 (with the pro apps bundle) and worked out to be £75 different to what I would have paid for the 14”.

I’ve got to wait longer now but I’ll manage.

I'm just going to work on the basis that not fast charging will prolong the battery life...
