Was about to order the base 14inch via UNiDAYS but will hold off and collect it from the local Apple Store on Tuesday instead.

Cancelled my order for the base 14" 10/16 (16GB 1TB) and placed a new one for a 14" 10/32 (32GB 1TB) with Apple Care;

Expected delivery date slipped by 3-4 weeks

Oh cock. I've just learned that you need the 96W power adapter to get the quick charge. I would have gone for that at £20, but don't think it is worth cancelling the order and adding a weeks delay to it (or paying £79 for a separate charger).

I'm just going to work on the basis that not fast charging will prolong the battery life...
Looking to get a 14" with M1Max and over here, it comes with the 96W charger. But I'm wondering if a hub or monitor with 60W PD would be sufficient to charge it when I'm not stressing it? I won't be using the GPU a lot anyway...

Is there much reason to go for the Max over the Pro if you’re not using the GPU much? They have the same 10 core CPU.

Hi all! Joining the MBP bandwagon a little late! Good to see some familiar names from the iPhone 13 thread.
@Jinjin - Thanks for getting this one setup!

Wow what an event! So much to digest so have held off ordering. Would like to make a decision now but wouldn't mind some guidance!

Upgrading from a Mid 2012 15" MB-R when they first came out. It was the top model then ( i7 / 8gb Ram etc) and has done me proud for over 9 years!

So dilemma is - 16"

£2600 Pro with 16Gb Ram
£3000 Pro with 32gb Ram
£3300 Max end 32Gb Ram

I dont do video editing or any sort of content creation but often view and work on large files / construction documents etc.

Whats the verdict? I think the £3000 one isn't worth it so its either £2600 or +£700 for the higher Max model.

Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for your help!!

I've switched from a 16" to a 14" machine with similar specs. And now I'm blocking access to the Apple Store website so I can't change my mind again!!

Does anyone know if the AR function works with the 14" model as it only appears to come up with the 16" on the apple website

So I upgrade from a rMBP 13" 2015 with an Intel i5 2,7Ghz 8GB RAM and 256 SSD to the base 14" M1 Pro with 8 Core CPU and 14 Core GPU 16GB RAM and 512 SSD.

My usage is not that "pro" (I only use Lightroom and Ableton Live 11 for music production, and maybe one day I will learn Premiere or Final Cut haha) but my MBP from 2015 has served me well and my father needs a laptop, so I will give it to him.

How big will be the jump in performance? Should I have opted for the 10 Core CPU and 16 Core GPU?

Ordered a 14'' with M1 Max 10/24, 32GB, 1TB yesterday evening (CEST). Delivery estimation is 29.10. - 2.11. Will replace a trusty and well aged late 2013 rMBP. I'll miss the additional fan from the MBP when riding on Zwift and watching youtube...

This leaves me one week to understand the difference between TB4 hubs and UBS-C hubs and chose one. Although I get the feeling that I might have to wait a bit for hubs that are able to pass through the full 96W. Any recommendations?

Trading in M1 MBA for entry level 14” MBP. 16GB RAM feels like the sweet spot right now for price/performance without any heavy workloads.
