IDMobile now offer eSIM, they use the 3 network. Very fast 5G if you can get it. Tesco Mobile also offer esims but I don’t think they do data only or monthly rolling contracts.
I had issues with my ID Mobile sim, they replaced it twice and still wasn't working properly, switched to GiffGaff in the end. With GiffGaff I think you need a physical sim first then you can switch to esim within the app. No need to put the physical sim in anything, but it will need to be activated online

Can anybody please help...

I got my iPad through EE and have messages set up. Does anybody know why when I send messages through my iPad, the number used is my iPhone number and not the e-sim phone number I was given by EE when I bought the iPad? Have I set up something wrong?

Perhaps check in settings for iMessage and see which number is being used, maybe the eSIM number is not checked?

iPad Cellular models don’t have the ability to send or receive SMS natively. It is more than likely using your linked iMessage phone number to send out the text out or if it close by via handover.

That's why I am confused. I am not sure if it's EE's fault or perhaps nothing is wrong?

I was given an esim with the iPad and new mobile number for the esim, however on messages on my iPad, it's showing my EE iPhone contract phone number so whenever I receive a text on my iPhone, it appears on my iPad as well. I thought that the number showing on my iPad should be the new esim number? Is there anyway I can change this?

It only shows my iPhone number. The esim number does not show.
You cannot send SMS's from an iPad esim, the number you will see is the iCloud iMessage number, when you send an SMS (green) it is forwarding it to your phone (EE can be exception where the iPad uses wifi calling to send it itself but still using the phone's number. Any number associated with an iPad sim cannot be used for anything except billing and maintaining your account with the network provider.

Thanks for this
This makes sense!
I had no idea that it was an 'iPad esim' - I thought it was like a normal iPhone sim.
I think I understand now!

They need hurry up improve that before iPhone 16 launch cos iPad now e-sim only so it might be hinting that iPhone 16 might be e-sim only like USA.

I am on EE too but on PAYG and they don’t even offer 5G on PAYG.
Look into Spusu they offer eSIM run on EE, no speed limit (unlike EE PAYG) and still no contract.

So after a few months of debating I have finally done it.

Yesterday I collected an iPad pro 13 M4 and all I can say is why did I wait this long. Coming from the 5th Gen M1 pro it really is worth upgrading to in my opinion. I can't believe how much lighter it feels and the OLED screen is so good.

Don't get me wrong the mini-led screen on the M1 was really good but this is another level to me.

Debating if I should get the 11inch or 13 inch.....Tough decision!

I still don't know!
WTF...
Honestly, the mental anguish you're putting yourself through is not worth it and it's not making you any closer to a decision.

Go and buy the damn iPad. If you feel buyer's remorse after 12 days, take it back.

This. I’d have caved MONTHS ago. Go get whichever you want and then return if you don’t like it

Leaning towards the 11 inch but I feel the 13 inch will probs be better for watching movies and annotating documents

You'll know very quickly if the one you choose is right or not. Do you ever need to travel with the iPad, like on a plane? If so, put it in a carry-on bag and see if it fits — if it doesn't, you'll immediately know not to buy that one. Otherwise, it's pretty much a question of whether you prefer that size and weight. So buy it and test it, see if it's easy to hold in one hand or have on your lap, whatever you'd use it for.

But seriously, you've been having this internal debate since what, May? Just go and buy whichever one you think you want. You'll know pretty quickly if you made the wrong choice.
