So as of now CPW are still quoting me £460 for my X 256gb. How much do you guys think will drop by after tomorrow night? If at all...

I can lock the price in now and have them send the ‘envelope’ to me to send it off. Has anyone used CPW before and know how long I have to get it to them? I can’t find anything in their FAQ’s... obviously would like to keep my X to as close the release date of the 11 as possible

I always do my trade ins at a Carphone Warehouse store, they process the payment as a refund directly onto your card.

My first choice would be just walking in the store like you say the day I get the 11, but if I did that I risk the price dropping between now and the 11 being announced. If it was just a drop of say £30 or so I’d just hold out and walk in but I have a feeling it would probably be around £100 less after the 11 is announced.

Anybody know how prices changed last year?

Pretty sure we saw between a 5% to 10% drop on event day alone last year. Prices will drop throughout the day and even more so after the event

Perfect, I think the main thing here is that it says if they receive the device after the 14 days they will return it to me free of charge or offer me a new revised price.

Should mean I could hold out to post it on the 20th (assuming that’s release day, and is less than 14 days from today) and they should get it in time. If not I get it back and just sell it privately, great!

So it seems as though bilateral charging is out?! That would be piss poor from Apple given their AirPower failure.

And they had the cheek to put ‘by innovation only’ on the invites!
Not the news I expected to wake up to!!! How on earth did we make it to launch day before 'respected analysts' got a hold of this info?!

Especially given how long its been available on other devices, surely not rocket science!

Anyway... Happy keynote day!!

Jeez, that sucks. Bilateral charging is the one thing that might have persuaded me to upgrade. What is wrong with Apple. They have no hardware that offers wireless charging.

it just seems like apple are happy to let other companies innovate and they just put out incremental updates each year gone are the days where i'm wowed by anything apple do. My focus will be on the apple watch and ipad pro upgrades.

hopefully by tonight i'll be proved wrong but if you don't use the iphone for taking pictures then whats the point of releasing a new iphone this year.

That’s a question that hits the nail on the head.
Very true. Not everyone wants to create and edit perfect photos. Most of us just want to point and shoot and phones have been offering that for years. If thats all they can offer on the new phones then sales are gonna be very slack and that will be a sharp wakeup call for Apple.

Has anyone ordered a new iPhone from Currys in the past and it has been delivered on release day? I get a bit of a discount so I'm wondering if I should do this.

Perhaps they'll announce it but it won't be ready until iOS 13.2, which might explain why it has been rumored up until very recently.

I couldn't give a toss if that feature is included or not. It's certainly not a selling point for a device.

I seem to remember last year pre-ordering my phone on the IUP via the Apple Store app, then going into a store to collect the phone and do the switch, but I can't remember how this works (in the UK)? Can anyone help?

I checked the app and it says I'm currently eligible to upgrade and says I need to go into a store to upgrade. Does this page change after today's event to some kind of preorder page?

Thanks for any help

Rather poor to be honest

It’s not hard to get right and Samsung improved theirs where it can charge over 5w now on the back of their device

yes, come Friday when pre-orders go live, that will be the route to go to do the upgrade.

No pencil support either

I was getting my hopes up on this and reverse charging

Seems like it’s really camera and I hope it’s great well it better be

Will see tonight then...

agreed, its not about the feature per say its the perceived lack of "innovation" in these devices. Yes, there's only so much you can do with a phone, but if the rumours are to believed, bilateral charging was seen a no-brainer feature. The comments from Kuo and Gurman suggesting the removal of this feature is down to "because the charging efficiency may not meet Apple’s requirement" is a poor showing from their engineering team.

So what do Apple as a company have to show for a year of product development.. not a huge amount.

looking forward to watching the keynote tonight.. and yes I'll still be buying it!

Trillion dollar company with unlimited resources for R & D and they can't even produce a phone with USB C or Bilateral charging. Its a bit of a joke. I really hope that this years shines flop in terms of sales and then Apple caught finally wake up and smell the coffee.
