A genuine question for you:

I’d love the ceramic model myself but I can’t justify the extra cost, so I’ve ordered the cheapest aluminium model. Even the brand new Series 5 will seem obsolete in 2-3 years and have very little resale value. Personally I see the Apple Watch as much more of a luxury item then something more essential like an iPhone.

So, my question... Are you planning to keep the Titanium watch for the long term, or are you upgrading every year to maximise resale value? How do you justify (to yourself) paying twice the price of the Aluminium model for the same features, or are you lucky enough that cost just not an issue?
I planned to keep my series 3... but the 4 came out

I then planned to keep the 4..... you get the picture.

I had a gold stainless steel which looked great but want to go back to a darker colour. Titanium space black on order so will see how it compares to the stainless steel space black which I had with my series 3.

I don’t actually justify it tbh, I’m luckily able to not do so.

Stay in school kids

Had the reminder mail this morning. Given I’m going to hand back my burner phone, I’m in two minds whether to wipe it at home ( then I’ll have to print the QR code for appointment) or just wipe it then and there and refund 😬 the latter feels a little cheeky... but so is putting the price up £50
Have a little fun with 'em. Say you had NO idea new phones were inbound when you bought the XR and now you just need to have the latest and greatest 🤣

I'm not sure they're effectively the same. Did you get an email confirmation after placing your order?

My original order was all online and I received a confirmation email. I cancelled and reorder over phone, and haven't had any emails in relation to the new order, but I did get an SMS with an order tracker when I placed that order. The tracker has never worked, and I called them yesterday to verify, and it has all gone through but they said phone orders don't usually get email confirmations and I shouldn't worry about that, and that the next communication would be an SMS with tracking link the day or night before delivery.

No I never got a confirmation email just an SMS link to track which didn't work immediately but subsequently did. I personally don't see the difference with an order being placed on online chat or telephone - I was still 'speaking' with an advisor who placed the order and took the upfront payment. I'd be surprised if that advisor placed my order in a different manner to a telephone order. A regular online order yes but telephone no.

Yes because iPhones are obviously essential!! ;):D I do somewhat regret the stainless steel series 3 I bought 2 years ago. It was expensive and definitely an unnecessary luxury. I got a 'gold' aluminium first and aside from the colour being horribly pink it felt too light and tinny so I exchanged for a SS but should probably have just not bothered at all! The stainless steel feels the right weight for a watch and I would have loved the Hermes edition but no way was paying that when as you say resale value fall so much!!! Was only tempted to get the watch because of the intro of cellular but not sure I get much benefit from that as rarely without my iPhone.

I am going to the Apple Store tomorrow to try and get a Pro Max 256 Space Grey. I hesitated too much and have one on order with an October delivery date. Sold my XS Max today so i need to try and get one tomorrow. Regarding the watch, I have always had stainless for every model aside from the Series 3 where i had ceramic. God that watch was great so i have one on order, again an October delivery date so when i turn up at the Bath Apple store around 7.30 tomorrow to try and buy a phone - I assume they will have some spare stock - I shall ask if they have the Ceramic watch in store. Not holding my breath on that one though.

Just had my email from Apple for collection.
Both phones ready. Only one will be chosen, I couldn’t decide between the black or red so will decide tomorrow when I see them in the flesh. Kinda wish they had them in before preorders went up so I could see them up close.

Still no DPD notification here either, direct Apple order.

Fingers crossed
Vodafone just changed to dispatched. Estimated arrival 14th September. 🤨 Nothing on DPD app or tracker yet but it's progress...
if I remember right some companies re-use tracking numbers so the 14th will be an old one and the new info should appear soon ..although I don’t really trust anyone but Apple to consistently deliver when they say they will!

Love the Bath store - love Bath in general. Was there visiting last year. Loved it. :)
Sorry for off topic!

😂

I have my excuse lined up concerning my burner XR: the trouble and strife changed her mind and wants an 11 after all!

I've got my work iPhone 5S (locked to Vodafone, eugh) for tomorrow morning's QR code etc.

I'd be quite hopeful you'd get one walking in.

Have decided to sack off my delayed space grey (11 pro) order from carphone and get it delivered from a Silver one delivered from currys tomorrow. Have ordered a leather case anyway so won’t really see the colour of the back.

Mad day in work today so unwinding by catching up on today’s preorder goings on. Looks like my phone will arrive via DPD and watch with DHL. Hope the phone gets here first! Working at home tomorrow and my work rooms window is right by the door... a lot of my day is going to be lost to staring out the window I think 😛
