I ordered the silver because that was all Apple had for launch day delivery. But then I found out Amazon had stocks of the green, so I ordered that, too.

Now that they're both here . . .

I'm sorry, but I really don't like the green. It's meh grey. Easy call to send it back.

Problem is, I'm not that excited about the silver, either. The back is a not particularly exciting matte white. The silver edging stands out nicely in a way, but you feel like you're missing out on an interesting DLC colouring.

Amazon have the gold available for Monday delivery. So now I've ordered that one. I saw a photo on these forums that made me think it might be the winner in my eyes.

Does anyone know the situation on getting a refund on an AC+ policy on a bought outright, launch day 10S Max?

It has had 1 claim out of the 2 made on it last month.

Some of the internals may be better on the 11 but if you're comparing screen quality (and let's be honest, it's all about the screens these days), all you need to do is look at the stats for both iPhones to see the XS is much much better :

For me it wasn't a question of thinking it was better, but more that given I was downsizing anyway, would the iPhone 11 be the best option. I could absolutely live with the LCD itself but those bezels may be the deal breaker. We'll see

Transfer from one phone to another was pretty fast.

spigen case makes the Apple logo on the back look all dotty. And has more writing than i’d like. But it is nice and clear and lets you see the colour of the sides - other clear cases even with a clear back can tend to be less transparent on the edges so it’s more white/milky

Am guessing no 77 paid for a timed delivery slot. I recall speaking to a DPD driver a few months back and saying it was great we could pick a one hour slot. He told it was not because it had them going back and forth on an illogical route.

Yep full screen and solid cases make it largely irrelevant! Although I like the green band. How nice would the green band be with a white back?! Or gold bezel, white back. Gold back is a little peachy looking to me 😝

Maybe next year Apple should just do one colour to stop us all agonising.

I just phoned yesterday and got a refund of my remaining AppleCare - I claimed once and got a replacement handset, but it didn't seem to affect the amount I was refunded as its just worked out evenly over the year

Does anyone know how to reconcile iCloud backups?

My old phone was on beta programme and is currently running iOS 13.1.
The new phones have shipped with iOS 13.0.

Do I need to enrol on the beta on the new phone now to reconcile them? Can anyone advise please?

I claimed on mine - the poor reception issue with the XS Max - and was given a replacement. I still got my refund for the remaining yesterday.....

EDIT - maybe my replacement handset was put through as a standard Warranty issue rather then use the AppleCare....?

Whilst I’ve not come from an XS I have come from an X to an 11 out the box yet but the 2 may concerns I he was the screen and the bezels

Worst case I’m thinking keep it a year and then if the rumoured OLED for all devices does come out next year it’ll feel like another upgrade anyway

Yes you need to install 13.1 first
 
Arrived at 14:10, 10 minutes in to my DHL delivery slot. Did the transfer over wifi which took about 20 minutes to transfer 50GB. Really happy so far. Can't wait to leave the office and have a good play :D

first thoughts coming from an X to an 11 Pro Max:

  • it's massive, and heavy - I'm going to have to reorganise my jeans pockets so it'll fit (creature of habit)
  • new Pro green feels very classy & a nice change from my default monochromatic choices
  • screen is beautiful, bright & clear - text looks almost "3D"
  • keyboard is much bigger & easier on my old man eyes
  • Apple Clear Case is likely going back as it's so slippery compared to recent leather cases eg: can't rest phone on leg of my jeans for 5-secs (but otherwise great)
  • camera is amazing - I didn't have the f-stop thing on my X, combined with the new white out Portrait effect it's fantastic

14:30 reservation at my local Apple Store. Rejected for iUP o_O, so purchased outright. Checked out the Apple Watch Studio while I was in store where you can now basically get any watch and strap combination you like. Gone for a 44mm S5 silver aluminium with khaki sport loop. I couldn't pick up straight away as they were super busy but they made me a reservation to collect in an hours time so heading back there now.
 
Now just waiting for it to copy data from my old phone.

The clear case seems far too slippery. I guess I'll be buying a different one.

Had the opportunity to see both colours. I was originally going for space grey but after seeing midnight green, it’s so beautiful and I’m going to get that colour instead.
