Yes you can! You ring them to get a refund. I do this every year as you cannot transfer ownership
Since when? Historically you've been able to preorder on the Thursday for Friday pickup. I've done it myself
Edit: Checked twitter and last year it does look like they made a mess of things with release day orders only

O2 are offering £560 for my Xs Max so I will be spending about £600 on my new phone.
Some people spend £600 a year on football, golf or perhaps smoking, all a waste of money for me but they enjoy it so let them enjoy.
One of my pleasures in life is having new tech and I am sure I will enjoy my new phone like every other year as well as all the chatter on here!

finally caught up on the keynote... disappointed to say the least... price is a kick in the teeth...
Those are fair points for sure. We also seem to spend an extraordinary amount of time daily on these devices. Nevertheless, it’s irritating how expensive they have become.
