I figure the prices are higher due to Apple factoring in any potential future currency fluctuations as they could have priced it at £1~$1 now and ended up increasing them if Pounds Sterling dropped further.

Won’t be upgrading myself this year but am gutted they are continuing to sell the Watch Series 3 but drop Series 4 as I might have upgraded to the 4 this time.

Well, that was sure disappointing.

Solid upgrade on Series 5 Apple Watch for anybody coming from a Series 3 or older. No reason at all to upgrade from a Series 4 unless an always on screen is essential - a lot of high profile Apple podcasters have been asking for this as a killer feature, strangely.

The 11 Pro and Pro Max got their camera upgrades, which is what I wanted. The telephoto lens is brighter/faster than before and the ultra wide angle lens will come in handy here and there. Night mode will be very useful and the deep fusion upgrade later in the year should mean more salvageable shots than before.

And then that's kinda it. Faster charger is nice, but I always charge wirelessly overnight or at my desk during the day. Guess the £50 price hike pays for that and the year's free Apple TV+!

Want to downsize to the 11 Pro from the XS Max, which on the iPhone Payments plan also means a lower payment each month. Digging the new green colour, though I'm absolutely paranoid about the PVD coating they use on the stainless steel band. I was able to recently clean up my silver XS Max really nicely using Cape Cod jewellery cloths thanks to the bare metal.

Anybody who wants to buy older discontinued hardware like the Series 4 Apple Watch or an XS/XS Max can just buy from John Lewis or similar. They'll have loads of stock still and will discount it accordingly.

I can get involved what I like it’s a forum for opinions and to reply to what they wish

If you were going to give him reasons not to upgrade mentioning the camera is rather pointless

it’s the other things that they didn’t add would have been more logical

Enjoy your iPhone 11 Pro with night mode Slofies

I’m on the IUP - a quick look says my XS Max will get me £680

I’m not hugely fussed on the upgrade, but if I can make money whilst doing it I will and then take an iUP out again...

does anyone know how the math would work? I assume I’m 12 payments in out of 20 and so would make just shy of £130 profit plus maybe £80 back on AppleCare?

am I right in thinking that?

£1149 is just so much. You have to draw the line somewhere.

Currently have an XS Max, I could replace my old Series 2 Apple Watch and get an iPhone 11 for the price of an 11 Pro Max. While OLED is great I’m not convinced I’d miss it versus the LCD on the 11, and I don’t take tons of portrait photos, ultra wide is more interesting to me.

Not to mention the weight increase, the XS Max is already unwieldy !

surely you will make more seeing out the IUP. Only 8 payments left so 4 months with no payments and come next year the full amount of the XS Max is yours to keep. bonus you still have AC+ to use this year if needed

I have a 6S. A bit disappointed and debating whether to wait for the next cycle. Once the phone's out (both the stupidly-named pro and the standard version) and reviews of the camera are in - as that's a big reason for me to upgrade - I'll decide.

What's annoying is that the base model, even for the "pro", is 64GB and I said to myself, currently struggling with my 16GB 6S, that I wouldn't by the base RAM model again :)

Looking at the cameras ... actually, the non-pro looks pretty good! And the price isn't too crazy.

It’s certainly not cheap

I mean on EE

I could get

Note 10 plus
Galaxy active 2
Galaxy buds

All for the same price as my current Xs max...certainly food for thought I guess.

When pre-ordering for collection at an Apple store, is payment taken at the point of ordering or collection? I know it was at collection the last time I did it 5 years ago, just wondering if it’s still the same

Don’t forget the price Apple quote in the US would be $999 plus sales tax. In the UK the prices are including VAT. Plus the £ is weak at the moment.

First time I've ever said this about a keynote in over 20 years, but man that was disappointing. The biggest feature for me is that lovely green in the iPhone Pro. Worth a grand? Nope!

I need to think about this one as it's becoming harder and harder to upgrade with a good conscience. The only thing easing the pain slightly for me is being on the IUP.

My thoughts are going up from my current X to the Pro Max and staying at 256gb but I know I'll be feeling the pain when I do upgrade.

I wanted to be persuaded to get a Pro, but can't quite justify it. My current XR is looking a lot more appealing to me after the event. There's always next year!

I’m pretty sure it’s at point of collection or delivery day. I ordered my X on Pre order day through Apple 2 years ago, and although I cancelled the order about 9 days later (as i had about a 5 week wait or I could order with CPW and get launch day delivery) they still hadn’t taken the money for my phone

Anyone have any experience buying from John Lewis? - Do they allow you to pre-order or is it a case of waiting until stock comes in?
