Just called Barclays forgot to ask them about paying it off early - £553.05 remaining, basically 9 months left. Makes sense to sell to CWP etc and pocket a couple of quid in the process!

Make sure you cancel AppleCare if you have it and then it send the balance to Barclays who will deduct from remaining amount (or if you have already closed it will send you the money)

I'm sure you can (happy to be shown otherwise)....

I've been upgrading every year since the iPhone 7 was released. iPhone 7 to iPhone 8 Plus upgraded through paying monthly payments via PayPal in the Apple Store and then again last year, when upgrading from 8 Plus to my current XS via IUP.

Does the IUP NOT allow upgrades then if you choose to NOT tale out AppleCare? Is that what you mean?

EDIT - seems that you CAN'T be on the iUP without AppleCare:

Yes, that's what I was saying. The annual upgrade is ONLY on iUP. iPhone Payments is a interest free loan for the handset but no aplecare and no annual upgrade option.

Spoke to Apple who said to pay off the remaining balance directly to Barclays then call the Apple Care team for a refund.

Telephone numbers in case anyone needs them:

Apple care: 08001076285
Barclays: 08001522888

Anyone know the answer to this - I'm currently on IUP with a XS Max 64Gb. Gonna go for iPhone Pro 256 back onto the IUP. Obviously with IUP part of the payments includes Applecare. When I go instore to hand over my current XS Max, the Apple blurb on T&Cs say they cancel Applecare and pay off remaining as part of that whole 'contract' deal, before starting a new one. My query is, do you still get refunded on the pro-rata applecare if you do this or is it just never seen again?

Not really interested in doing the sell private thing for other reasons.

Selling my X with music magpie (£425 not bad, but should have bitten last week when it was £440). Although I don’t need to send in my charger etc I probably will - no good to me.
I could go and buy an XR for a week, or just hold off sending it in because MM hold their offer price for 14 days.. not sure

will be getting an 11 as the extra on the pro isn’t worth it to me. May do IUP for a year and upgrade to the 2020 model.

Just not sure on the colour as I love the XR bright yellow but the 11 is much softer. Maybe red or black..

I’ve done the same, trading in my XR with MM. never done it before so hoping it goes smooth.
Do you know if the 14 days is that they have to receive it on the 14th day?

I currently have a red XR and wanted the green 11 until they showed that it was a mint green I was hoping more of a electric type or British racing green. I’m not a fan of these pastel looking shades.

Not sure if I should go red again or just go black so it feels like a new phone over my current one lol

Surely with a red Xʀ and a red 11 you’d only be able to tell you had a new phone from looking at the camera holes! I’d go for a new colour.

Clear case just arrived......

Are these cases hard or soft like silicone ones?

I know many on here are sending their phones off to webstores who are buying it from you but to be honest, I could never send my iPhone off to one of these knowing that there is a small chance it could get lost in the post or damaged (I've had several parcels in the post which were damaged in transit and orders were cancelled) and the hassle that would bring with it!!!!

You lot are VERY brave....!!!!

Though often you get a better price on these when selling used (private sales not to trade in companies)

If I were you I would reserve and do iPhone payment in store as that is interest free and the regular Barclay Partner fiance on the web is not (14.9%). Or do you need it delivered?
Just thinking to either do that or just trade in... I mean obviously I would get a way better price if I sold it than scrap it for a little £370... just trying to find the best way to finance it as my situation has changed a lot from previous years where I can just afford to buy this outright simply

See my earlier response - but they are hard.
[doublepost=1568293075][/doublepost]Seems a lot of finance related questions - so I have created a one page comparison that will hopefully explain and compare the various options. Obviously this should not be relied on for accuracy and anyone taking finance needs to assess their own affordability etc. Particularly, estimated resale values are just that - based on experience over a number of years - but always subject to change.

Hopefully though is useful as a comparison of potential monthly payments, position after a year (when next upgrade cycle starts) etc.

XS Max is the one closest to the leatherman knife

I'm on IUP with Xr, not impressed with updates won't go Pro, would be an 11, although happy to stay Xr.

However working out the upgrade, it's actually (very slightly) cheaper monthly payments (although would have the £69 upfront), so now wondering.

I personally don't see much benefit in Xr over 11, but wonder what others in same scenario are doing?
similar position last year with X on IUP and moving to the Xs... was a no brainer as the cost was the same.. so why wouldn't I change?

No refund as you will only have paid the correct pro rata amount of Applecare.

I insure my phone or pay extra when posting to cover any damage or loss. About £10.

Sorry my 1st answer was to someone about colours of iPhone when I said some colours (usually the newer) fetch higher price on private sales.

I meant when you were asking about doing Barclays Partner Finance when ordering online and if it can delay and I think the answer is yes there is a risk. I appreciate that finance is the only option but the point I was making / question I was asking is do you have to order online for delivery or can you reserve for pick and sort out finance in store on release day? The online finance has 14.9% interest but going in in store and signing up to IUP or iPhone Payments is interest free. For a phone at £999 that means you are paying an extra £150 in interest.

You cant upgrade your iPhone every 12 months if you go for iPhone payments only. This feature is only available with the package that includes AppleCare.
but.. if you can be bothered.... its usually always better (in terms of money in your pocket) to sell privately and pay off the outstanding loan rather than to hand the phone back in to apple
[doublepost=1568294749][/doublepost]
EDIT - seems that you CAN'T be on the iUP without AppleCare:
that right. its called iPhone Payments... 20 months 0% with no apple care and no handing the phone back... but just sell your phone privately when you want (or use a trade in site) and you'll be better off anyway

Update on this when you call Apple care ask them to put your though to the Agreements Admin team, they will refund the remaining Apple Care back to the loan amount first then you call Barclays and pay it all off.

Not quite - I don't know (others may be able to confirm) but suspect you will need to call Barclays and pay off iUP directly. The AppleCare refund is I think also something you will need to call Apple directly to do (but is straight forward).
So overall - is a little bit more hassle, but likely better financially!
that's right.. call you Barclays and pay up. I also called apple to cancel apple care and they (apple) give the money back to Barclays who I turn give it back to you.

I have had a mixed bag with Music Magpie. When upgrading to my XS Max I went through the process of selling my X - MM quoted me over £600 for it - going rate was about £485 at the time, not sure what happened but there website was obviously broken. I sent both phones off, immaculate screen and surround as they had been in a apple case, the only section which was slightly scuffed (as I say the tiniest of hairline scratches) was the bottom near the charger. Music magpie claimed there was dust under the screen, scratches and allsorts wrong with it. I received it back (in the same condition I sent it in) a few days later. I assumed they lied because they didnt want to honour the overpriced amount they offered. On another occasion I sent off my Apple Watch 3 with no problems at all.

When I got this phone back I took it to CPW, after spending 10 minutes discussing how great a condition the phones were in, him saying that they are the best he has ever seen, going so far as to asking if we actually used them, he then took them to be checked on the computer, then came back and offered me like £200 for them due to hairline scratches - I am being serious when I say they were invisible unless the light caught them right. I then went to another CPW store who checked them no problems and gave us the £800 or so (for two).

Ultimately I pooped myself for a couple of days thinking that MM were going to send me back a dodgy phone, but they didnt.

What’s everyone think case wise then with a silver Pro Max.... Midnight Blue or Black... cannot decide! (Think I’ve decided against the midnight green phone)

Want to order it tonight to make sure my Apple Pay works as when I tried to buy my phone on pre order day last time it came back having a moan about my address even though it was all correct..

Rossy, thank you very much for this useful resource, Im sure it will help a lot of people. Although i must say it all is seems fairly straightforward to me, so I don’t really understand the confusion. On a separate note I haven’t been this excited about an upgrade since the IP3GS

Not much change/updates, means after another 9 payments it's mine to sell/hand down and can start next year on 2020 phone.

you could sell now, start a new iup on a 2019 phone... given you'll still be paying the same monthly amount and then in 2020 sell the 2019 phone and start all over again o_O

remember your current phone will depreciate come 2020 more than a phone you'd get this year...

to me it comes down to hassle... I will get a new iPhone each year.. what the most efficient way for me to do this... cup (as I do want apple care) but then I sell privately and start again

How much refund would I get of AC+ if paying up my IUP after the initial 11 payments?

I agree, normally get a new one, but the Pro is out for me, and 11 the just doesn't seem much more over the Xr anyway, so is there any point?

actually that’s not a bad shout! Good way to check for any issues!

Hmm now what case to order..
