Midnight Green looks amazing but I’m very wary of trendy colours because they age more quickly than the classics.

Having said that, most of us are on pretty short upgrade cycles so my point is almost irrelevant :D

iPhone XS off to Music Magpie today!

did you get a quote a while back? I got one for my X and I'm trying to figure out if I hold on to it until after picking up my new phone next week - they give you 14 days with the price locked. Or could that potentially increase their likelihood of finding something to try and push the price down when they receive it (its in great condition though).

Yeah that's exactly why I'm still not 100% sure. I need to make my mind up before 1pm tomorrow though! I either stick with silver or go green or gold.

All of my iPhones and iPads have been Space Grey / Black, but for the first time I'm going green. I like the Silver too, was always put off by the white front though that's no longer a consideration.

There's also something to be said for things that are 'of their time' - I still have my daughters plastic blue 5C & whilst it looks very dated now it was bang-on when it came out. As you say, no-one here is that fussed about the long haul!

.....looking at the design of the new iPhones (and the current ones actually), I really don't understand why they didn't design the cameras to be set back from the rear glass so that we ended up with a completely flat back instead of the current ugly protruding camera design which gives the equally ugly non-aesthetic 'wobble' feature when the phone is lying flat on a table??!
:rolleyes:o_O

you don't think they would if they could? The lenses and sensors probably mean they don't have the space internally before hitting the screen. I bet those are taking up most of the internal space in that area

It’s like you’ve never heard of VAT...
it's 29% VAT value over there? also US has some taxes which are not 0, maybe 5-9%.
29% overall more money - 20%UK VAT but + 5-8% US TAXES = 14-17% real diffrence!

As an FYI for anybody using eSIMs, you will need to have the network issue you with a new QR code to go on to the new device. A back up and restore from iTunes or iCloud will not transfer the existing eSIM data to the new device.

These eSIMs are proving to be a bit of a pain, as I'll need to pop into an EE store tonight to do this for my burner XR, then I'll need to do it again next week for whatever device I ultimately end up with. I run dual SIMs with a physical work Vodafone SIM card, so I'll have to put up with the faff to be able to carry just one phone around.

I wonder when Apple will allow us to do the IUP online.. it’s not as if the stores aren’t already packed.

I spent my whole lunch at the store because of their queues.

...trust me - the stores are NOT "...already packed"!

When I went to collect my XS last year from my local store (Bromley) there was not a single person in the queue - I was in and out within half hour!

I had a quote that has now expired, that was for £605, my most recent quote is for £580. In my experience the honor the quote as long as they receive/process the phone by the 14th day. Once the iPhone 11 is released the prices will likely fall ever so slightly.

Yep, this is a really good point. I too have found the eSIM too much of a pain over the year (having replaced my phone twice) so no longer bother with it anymore, last time I visited the ee store I asked for a physical sim.

I think it ‘could’ as you’ll only get a confirmed delivery date once your application has been approved. Would all depend on stock levels
Argh debating to finance it that way or to do the Apple trade in and use my paypal credit to fund the remaining £829.... (already have paypal credit and have that amount + in the account to use)

more looks at the midnight green... 3:30 in

I think the rear design would have looked SO much better if they had had the camera surround area, in black as opposed to the same colour as the rest of the phone. The 3 camera lenses just look weird as they are - at least if the surround was black, the lenses would have blended in.

I'm pretty sure, this:

they do give you 14 days but I've read they'll have need to have processed your phone in that time. Given their delivery method is 48hr service, I've sent mine off early just to make sure they get it in time

I quite like what they've ended up with. Its got a kind of industrial almost steam punk-ish look to it, all personal taste i guess :)
