I’m still not 100% clear on the process of ordering a phone to start IUP.

I know IUP has to be done in-store. So when pre-orders go live, do i just go through the usual channel of buying the phone from Apple and select in-store collection, or is there a special route I need to go through to reserve for in-store IUP purchase?

I seem to see some people saying that if I just purchase it and select in-store collection I’ll be paying outright for the phone.

I’m familiar with the iPhone upgrade program and the payments plan, both over 20 months in the UK.

Does anyone know much about the trade in option to pay over 24 months?

The extra 4 months helps to spread the cost and keep the payment lower so I was considering the 11 Pro instead of the 11.

What happens if your trade in is valued lower, do your monthly payments end up higher or do you have to pay more upfront?

Is there an option of paying more upfront voluntarily?

Is this only available when trading in?
which 24 month do you mean? the ones with Paypal or Barclays credit charge interest!

When I got my 6 I was charged at the store. They even said that people were waiting around in hope of being able to buy phones that had been reserved by people who didn't turn up. This was 5 years ago though. I guess it depends of they do online purchases for collection or just reservations these days.

I'm going to be at work on Friday afternoon with no internet access. No idea how I'm going to be able to order on Friday

Not even access on your phone to order via the app?

can't remember 100% for sure.. spent a good while trawling through the thread from last year but there'll be an option for IUP to follow.. might be from https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/iphone/iphone-upgrade-program. There's a note saying

Join the programme.
Once pre-order starts, you can reserve your new iPhone online for pickup at an Apple Store near you, where one of our Specialists will help you enrol in the programme.

Also, as a member I can check if I'm eligible for an upgrade, come this friday this will give an option to pick a phone.

last year's thread is full of people reserving for IUP at a store of their choice, I'm sure it will be easy to find!

24 months is not interest free- 14.9%? 20 months iPhone payments is the best option as Balance between cost per month nd not paying extra for Applecare

went to the Apple store today to ask. They sid you just preorder to collect in store like a regular purchase, but when you come to collect you do it as an IUP

yup that does sound familiar... just can't remember if when pre-order open there was an obvious link to reserve rather than buy... must have been given the number of people who did it last year.. including me!

will be 256GB again.

Saying that I've managed to get myself onto the 64gb Xr today but had to offload some apps. Also assuming i'll be using more space with the fancy new photo and video options!

I know 256GB will be enough as I have 177GB left now but I will take more video and pics with the new Pro max...

I need to shut up I don’t need 512GB lol

There seems to be some option that is.

This is from the bottom of apple.com/UK after the front page says you can get a pro for 30.99 per month after trade in.

“iPhone 11 Pro pricing is after trade-in of iPhone X 64GB. Trade-in values vary based on the condition, year and configuration of your trade-in device. You must be at least 18 years old. Additional terms from Apple or Apple’s trade-in partner may apply. Monthly pricing requires a 24-month instalment loan with 0% APR from Barclays Partner Finance (a trading name of Clydesdale Financial Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Barclays Bank PLC) and £20 upfront payment. Subject to application and status. Full terms apply.”

Good spot. Never seen that before! Try apple chat and ask em tomorrow?

Can’t see that shown anywhere else

Shame :apple: is literally taking the “talk to the hand” stance in their storage line up! Ideally the Pro model base storage should be 128GB as oppose to 64GB:confused:
Because Apple know that if it was, a more sizeable proportion of their customers would opt for the base model thereby costing them valuable revenue.

For the same reason they have stubbornly refused to replace the lightning connector on the iPhone with USB-C. It would cost them a packet!

Introducing the Pro suffix to iPhone would’ve been the *perfect* time to switch to USB-C from Lightning - to match other products like iPad Pro and Macbook Pro.

When I’m packing for an office day on the train I take a dual port Anker mains charger with:

- USB-C to Lightning quickcharge cable for iPhone
- USB-A to USB-C cable for iPad and/or Macbook

Feels like the wrong way around! I’m so ready already ...

Does anyone know if when preordering from Apple directly if I choose to use the partnership finance solution will this lengthy process hinder my 20th receiving date?

What storage option is everybody sticking with?

I'm sure it's rare, but there is a possibility if processing falls over for whatever reason. I think it's usually pretty instant though ...
