How has the history been with non-Apple retailers that stock SIM free iPhones? Do they start selling on the same day? Do they allow pre order? I could probably get it a tad cheaper outside as Apple isn't offering corporate discount on the 11s.
I’m a bit late to the party sorry. Generally I’ve seen the non Apple people (John Lewis) sell from day one if they can get stock but John Lewis have been quite good in this I think? Last year a few people got them from VERY the catalogue people but I think a few were let down by them. I don’t think the phone providers do sim free to start with but CPW claim to sometimes and then hurriedly say they’re ‘out of stock’, I avoid them at all costs!

Absolutely. I don’t love that either but I tolerate it because I have to.

Well yeah that’s what we do for the user experience...i was tempted by note 10 but software was the deciding factor here. Well that and the camera improvements.

Am I correct in thinking that the only difference between the 11 and the Pro is the display and the extra camera lens? (Telephoto). It will interesting to see if there is a difference in picture quality between the 11 and Pro.
Better battery life which is a big thing for me :)

I really don't get the people saying it's the ugliest iphone ever... sure I think the back of the X/XS does look nicer, but for the added camera benefits I think everyone will get used to it, and it means it's easier to distinguish.
As above, it looked pretty ugly in early leaks but defo improved since then

Probably a day before the announcment. Prices drop quickly as soon as they announce the new phones.
To my surprise CPW are still offering me £460 for my 256 X 24 hours after the keynote, wish I’d waited an extra day now to lock in my price to give me an extra day to get it to them!

Should still have more than enough time though with the 14 days they give you providing I get a release day phone and mail my X off the same day. Will be looking to walk in store though first if the price is the same instead of posting m..

I’m pretty sure that the last time I ordered for collection at an Apple Store I was charged BEFORE I collected.

Can anyone confirm this procedure?

When I got my 6 I was charged at the store. They even said that people were waiting around in hope of being able to buy phones that had been reserved by people who didn't turn up. This was 5 years ago though. I guess it depends of they do online purchases for collection or just reservations these days.

I'm going to be at work on Friday afternoon with no internet access. No idea how I'm going to be able to order on Friday

So who’s running 13.1 beta?

I see we will have to do a downgrade to be able to restore form backup as 13.1 is t going to be released for a while yet!!

that sucks!! Luckily I did a proper iTunes backup as advised by Apple!

I’m torn with my trade in, could do without losing my phone yet but worried I’ll lose the extra money by waiting

Not sure which model you’re after but with prices up again and relatively limited enhancements over the XS models, my gut feeling is that there will be a plentiful supply of the Pro phones with the possible exception of the Midnight Green model.

I wonder when Apple will allow us to do the IUP online.. it’s not as if the stores aren’t already packed.

I spent my whole lunch at the store because of their queues.

I’m really uncertain about selling my phone, I feel like the best way to do it is through Apple just to get those lower monthly payments... there’s no way I can afford it outright.

Only thing is that I have the tiniest crack on my iPhone X, but it’s on the bezel, as in not visible on the screen. And its weird because you can’t feel it, almost like it’s inside the phone? The descriptions and grading are so ambiguous.

Guess I just have to get them to look at it and see if I’m getting £300... or £80

I read (on these forums somewhere) that you can simply "upgrade" back down to 13.0 once it's released using iTunes (or Finder if you're on Catalina). So nothing special needed nor any restore/recovery.

I really hope you’re right! I’ll be ordering a midnight green for me and a gold for the missus. Both of us are downsizing from the max. I just hope supplies are okay. Thankfully I’m working from home on Friday so there’s no chance of anyone pestering me around 1pm!

Yep, I did this today. Mostly for work reason as I want to access work emails through their app that’s built by us.

Not sure about preorders but every single order I’ve picked collection I have paid in advance.

if you go down the standard route, i.e. pick your phone, colour, size etc you then get the two options to have it delivered or store pick up.. the you will both be asked to pay for.

IIRC there'll be a link from the IUP page, to reserve for this... searching back through last years thread this was the link... not currently working though https://reserve-prime.apple.com/GB/en_GB/reserve/iPhone/availability?iUP=E&appleCare=Y

I'll be going for the 11 in black. I'm still using my 6 so it'll be a decent upgrade. I can't justify the extra for the pro

The guys at Apple won’t miss a crack, however minuscule.

Ok so it sounds as if you can reserve to pick up from the Apple store. Given it appears you don’t pay until collection(?), Is there anything to stop me cancelling that reservation or not turning up to collect if I source one from John Lewis on release day? - I’m only asking as I have £70 in John Lewis vouchers which I would prefer to use if I could. Guess you could say I’m hedging my bets in case John Lewis don’t get many in or they sell out

nope, they just return the phone back to stock and it appears available to reserve again there
