Bought a clear Max case in the Apple Store App today as a standalone order. Everything shipshape on my Apple Pay settings, so looking forward to a smooth Friday lunchtime experience ...

It offered me a Siri Shortcut to "where's my Apple order?" - I guess it beats pressing refresh, though I'm not anticipating the same fever around tracking planes etc this year.

Not had that in years now.

Usually the tracking fun only starts a few days before launch and the phones are already at syncreon in Hinkley. Then it’s just preying you get dpd and not uk mail!

When did you send it. Given I got the last mail today I’d assume they’ll get Friday and process Monday.
First thing Monday. Don't be too concerned if you don't get many tracking updates. Last update for me was Monday afternoon when it reached the mail centre. Just sent the phone too.

With regards to music magpie etc what are they like with light marks to screens etc? Mine has small marks visible from having no screen protector.

only visible if screen is off and tilted in the light
I sent them a Apple Watch, series 3. They had offered me £140. When I sent the watch it had not got a mark on it, I have photos to prove this. They then got in touch with me and dropped the price to £82 because they say it had deep scratch’s. I am now waiting for it to be returned. I hope it is in the same condition that I sent. So, be careful.

This is a big worry of mine!! Tempted to go CEX they’re offering £550

I’ve always used either cex or envirophone depending on who offers most money. Had no issues with either.

I did my iPhone 8 through them and that was all fine. They say its insured as long as you use their postage method. I've packed it properly, photographed it and sent it on its merry way.

securing £704 for my XS 256 is hard to refuse

how you get that? I’m offered £642 for my Xs max 256gb!!

carphone warehouse are £660! Is there anyway of locking in that price?

Ok so it sounds as if you can reserve to pick up from the Apple store. Given it appears you don’t pay until collection(?), Is there anything to stop me cancelling that reservation or not turning up to collect if I source one from John Lewis on release day? - I’m only asking as I have £70 in John Lewis vouchers which I would prefer to use if I could. Guess you could say I’m hedging my bets in case John Lewis don’t get many in or they sell out

I’m pretty sure that the last time I ordered for collection at an Apple Store I was charged BEFORE I collected.

Can anyone confirm this procedure?
Not sure about preorders but every single order I’ve picked collection I have paid in advance.

How does the deal with Car Phone Warehouse work?
I’ve done it a few years now. You just go in store and they take a look at it and wipe it and give you the money on to your debit card. Takes a few days for the money to come through. The prices they give online have been the same as the ones I got in store. I plan to do the same this year. I prefer that than sending it off to someone and having the risk of them reducing their offer.

sold a few phones to them over the past few months, only ever sent just the phone. Generally 1-2 days after Royal Mail tracking says it’s delivered they email and say it’s being processed then payment usually same day. I’ve had a phone processed on a Sunday too.
[doublepost=1568229485][/doublepost]And for those asking if MusicMagpie is insured yes as long as you use their postage label, which is free. Don’t shell out for special delivery etc.

Thanks, but is this conditional on you getting your new phone from them?

Although this is true, I’m really struggling with the ugliness of the camera lens arrangement. Very ugly, very unApple in my humble opinion.

Does anyone actually like it?
I’ve not seen as many complaints as I was expecting! I think it’s horrible but I’ll get used to it just like the notch!
