Since the Keynote, the IUP page in the Apple Store App is no longer showing how many more payments are due on IUP - its changed to saying something like 'You're eligible for an upgrade and can pre-order from the 13th' Its unlikely to show your payments now....

Yup for people who have made 11 payments. As this chap was asking about the XR that launched later so might not have made the 11th payment. This will show him how many he had left before being eligible to upgrade and could pay that off

I could pre-order the Pro or Pro Max WITHOUT Apple Care on IUP and both would be cheaper than what my current IUP payments are on my XS (with AppleCare).....

Hmm - do I let myself get sucked in.................?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:rolleyes::rolleyes::p

Are you sure, the phone has gone up £50 so you’ll be paying ~£2 more per month. That’s if you’re comparing like for like XS to a 11 pro in the same capacity

How has the history been with non-Apple retailers that stock SIM free iPhones? Do they start selling on the same day? Do they allow pre order? I could probably get it a tad cheaper outside as Apple isn't offering corporate discount on the 11s.
I believe John Lewis allow you to order the day of release for Saturday delivery
I’m not buying outright - will I just be able to reserve without paying? I’m going on the iPhone Payments plan which I need to set up in store

In the past there have been 2 options available online.

1. Order the phone for delivery/in store collection
2. Reserve an iPhone, attend an appointment at a selected time on launch day and then either pay in full on arrival, or pay monthly etc.

Yup. On Friday follow the pages for the iPhone upgrade programme and reserve that way. I did the same last year, no money down and went into store and signed up on release day at my chosen time slot

Am I correct in thinking that the only difference between the 11 and the Pro is the display and the extra camera lens? (Telephoto). It will interesting to see if there is a difference in picture quality between the 11 and Pro.

£10gb for £10 @ Virgin Mobile. https://www.virginmedia.com/mobile/sim-only/pay-monthly-sim?contractDuration=12&tariffID=1709711619

They use the EE network, which tends to have better coverage than the others (though check locally for you).
I’m with Virgin at the moment and their indoor signal is horrible - that Three deal looks ok though
[doublepost=1568209797][/doublepost]FYI Music Magpie are offering £436 for the iPhone X 64GB Unlocked. I wouldn’t go anywhere near Apples trade in prices

Don't forget it's often cheaper to upgrade via CPW (and others) than going direct even if you can't get anywhere with retentions. There's an XR plan on there at the moment under 50 for example

Not sure I can bear them again mate, had a nightmare with them over the mrs phone! Crazy what we're paying for these things but I've had umpteen work Android phones and while they're ok I can't give up Apple for my personal kit.

Has the Xr a little while now and the screen just doesn’t feel as bright/vibrant as the XS oled.. which is expected.

Size wise it’s great... without the case on.. a few more mm and I think it still wouldn’t be the comfortable one hander I want. So it does seem the 5.8” is my sweet spot!

£425 for an X on my screen now at Music Magpie... £595 for an XS Max 64gb.

Music Magpie

In fact if you wanted money faster take it to a CPW and they put it on your card that day (takes 3 days to clear)

Never used MM before, I'm being offered £500 for my 256gb XR, how much do you think it'll depreciate by November (my upgrade date)?

£500 seems to good to be true, if it stays at £500 by then i'll pay EE £300 to keep it and sell to MM. tidy £200 profit.

Ah fair enough, maybe you should just request a few free sims from O2, Three etc to test out signal.

No point in you signing up to a new contract only to have crap signal again. Especially if you're just Sim Only and are in no rush. For example for me in the areas I usually go to, taking a Three sim card with me in a second phone made me realise the reception difference (and speed) was quite noticeable.

Pretty much. Only other differences are:
The pro phones contain the U1 chip which brings new location tracking features
4m water resistance
Textured matte glass
Pro phones come with USB-c fast charger 18w

Is this different to just ordering and reserving for store collection then?

I have always bought outright but want to go onto IUP. So just checking if reserving for store collection with IUP is any different to just regular reserve for store collection.

No it’s the same way to reserve.

A few people went down the route of purchasing the phone and doing in store pick up I bite rush to get their preorder in!

If that does happen, you can of back in store, get it refunded and then buy it back on iup!

I’m not sure I fully understand what you’re asking sorry. But essentially on the 13th at 1pm you can:

1. Order for delivery
2. Reserve an iPhone and then on the 20th go collect it and either pay in full or sign up for monthly payments etc.
[doublepost=1568210816][/doublepost]First year in a while where I won’t be getting the new colour. Space grey has never tempted me, always found it a bit bland but this year it looks fantastic.

Did that work for folks last year then? I remember some suggestions previously that they might not let you buy it back but that was chat before it was available.

Cool, sounds good, thanks. I’ll be doing option 2

Anyone have experience of blagging the latest model iPhones out of UK carriers and getting a better deal than the advertised ones on their website? Any XR people with experience of last year?

Disappointing, generic & rushed keynote but as expected this year the way Apple are going.

I'm a massive Apple fan but the crowd clapping at everything said was insane.

Pro Max name is an afterthought & I wish they had blended the new camera into the entire casing.

Only real interesting part of the keynote for me was the "Deep Fusion" AI photography on the Pro models. I'd like to see how actual photos look in the real world. Apple and "Night Mode" seems to be responding directly to Google's "Night Sight".

I would also like to see how Apple have evolved their 4K 60fps video quality compared to the XS Max. Although 64GB memory is frankly a silly option for that level of video quality.

Having said that, I paid only £527 for a Sony Xperia 1 with 128GB and 4K HDR OLED display. It's a niche but cracking phone.
So this year I will definitely not be giving Apple an unworthy £1149 for a 64GB iPhone 11 Pro Max.

I would like to see some real old school Apple innovation for 2020 like they used to do. Today, there isn't much "Pro" about their new phones. I'm not saying it's not an upgrade from the XS Max but it needs proper "Pro" features not just in the name.

Wonder what Steve Jobs would make of Apple in its current form.

With regards to music magpie etc what are they like with light marks to screens etc? Mine has small marks visible from having no screen protector.

only visible if screen is off and tilted in the light
