I think screen sizing is a little bit of a misnomer.....

With you on this one.

Whereas the XS Max has more pixels compared to the XS (both have 458 PPI), many apps are not optimised for the XS Max as you say and sometimes elements like buttons appear too chunky etc.

Where the larger screen does come into its own is media consumption. The extra screen real estate does make watching videos and reading much more pleasurable.

As Jinjin said above, the XR/11 6.1 inch size is actually the sweet spot for current trends of larger phones without feeling too large.

I'm thinking for safety, I will pre-order an 11 Pro Max, as I assume the larger size will go more quickly as history has shown. I can then change to the 11 Pro on launch morning if it comes to it, as there'll likely more stock availability of that size.

If i were to firstly get the phone, and secondly get it in green I’m leaning towards that forest green apple leather case..

Had apples leather on mine for 2 years now with countless drops and it’s worked wonders, the phones pristine still!

Never again am I buying an Apple leather case - must be my oily hands by they end up filthy in weeks! Shame as I think the green pro in a green leather case will look great.

Hi everyone [waves]

I’m on the iUP so makes sense to upgrade. I love the mint green 11 but my work phone is a 6 and I really struggle with the size from an XS Max so will be swapping to the Pro Max I guess. Currently using about 50gb of memory but not sure I’m brave enough to downgrade to the 64gb, even if the majority appears to be 20k photos. Not sure about the green so it’ll be good to gold for me.

In a similar boat currently using 46.6gb of 256gb (actually thought it was 60GB last time I checked) though maybe I could try the 64gb on IUP (rather than buy outright) and if it is problematic upgrade next year. I could surely handle it for a year  Would be easier to justify the 'upgrade' from X to 11 Pro to myself if I go for the 64GB especially since it seems the 256gb is now overkill for me. I think because I have increased cloud storage I don't use as much on my phone as previously am sure I used to be used to be well over 100GB. I have 43K photos and almost 600 videos but not so much of my music is on the phone these days!

Can anyone remember what stock levels were like last year two weeks after launch? My IUP upgrade date is 4th Oct, ideally would like to pick up an 11 Pro then. I presume I can’t reserve one earlier (eg this Friday) on if my upgrade date is after launch day?

I personally cannot wait for carriers to release contract pricing this friday:)
I cannot imagine the prices for iPhone 11 Pro Max 512gb will be £100 a month on the EE price plan.

if you order Frday and get the first batch and the dates says the 20th... you'll get it on the 20th... no chance getting it earlier than the official release day..

well... ok one chance I recall from the X release 2 years ago when one guy on here got the DPD dispatch confirmation on the day before release and went to the depot to collect.. they won't be letting that happen again!

worth trying a retail store between now and next Friday. seeing that the US stores are discounting the XS, they will still be selling them in the UK up till next week. I can't see why they wouldn't let you join IUP now.

I'm heading to the store in a bit so will ask!
[doublepost=1568195667][/doublepost]
yup, you can pre-order on friday for IUP. I did so last year and booked my time, went on release day and signed up to IUP.. nothing paid up front..all done in store at my chosen time.

....I'm sure there is an up front payment of £69 for the IUP - I recall paying something like this last year when I upgraded from 8 Plus to XS?!

Does this mean you can't get the new iPhone on launch day in the UK?
You can, when pre orders go live you'll be able to make an in-store reservation. Upon attending that appointment you'll have the option to upgrade/buy outright etc.

Agree surely will be more or will have a hefty upfront cost like £5 million...:D

No but you have to reserve this Friday to pick up in store next and you'll prob need to be quick off the mark to ensure you get a release date reservation.

Correct £69.

And Apple have pulled me back in.

I jumped ship to a Huawei P30 Pro a couple of months back as I wanted to try something different. I do love the cameras and the way the phone runs but Apple just have a way of getting my attention. I was ready to not want an iPhone this year and now I have found myself on the webpage reading specs and getting drawn into pre-ordering on Friday :)

Wondering if someone can help me. I’m looking to reserve an iPhone 11 Pro on Friday to pick up hopefully on launch day. How do I actually go about reserving the phone? I’ve only ever bought outright a launch day iPhone. Will there be a button on the Apple store app to click to reserve, or do I have to call my local Apple store? Thanks in advance!

Does anyone think that the update from an iPhone X is worth it to either the 11 or 11 Pro Max? what kind of jump are we talking from the X?

I like my iPhone X, it has served me well but I've had it for 2 years now and I'm thinking of upgrading. The Pro Max is appealing because of the longer (up to 5 hours batter life) and the bigger screen, however I'm not sure if I would get the value out of the camera. Yes I take photos when I'm on holiday, or even out and about with friends, but I'm not a PRO photographer.
Where as the iPhone 11 seems like it will be a downgrade from my iPhone X, the screen isn't OLED and I'm not sure what batter life would be like in comparison.

You do this online. You cannot call a store to reserve stock... that’s an unfair system aha

:D my silicone one looks (stone colour)still looks great colour wise but the corners have worn away revealing the hard inner plastic!

The Green (or white) Pro Max is calling to me, however it doesn't seem to have much more than the 11.

how many more payments is your account showing?

you could upgrade 'early' by making that additional payment to Barclays.

you sure can. there's just no way of doing IUP in the UK online.. you have to do it in person. You can pre-order for store pickup next friday and sign up to IUP then

I am thinking it is worth the jump from X to 11 Pro but based on the camera upgrades and my heavy iPhone camera usage. Wide angle is very appealing! Also I think there is a decent improvement on battery even from x to 11 Pro without going for the Max. Not easyt to say but Apple comparison table states the Xs is up to 30 mins more battery life than the X and that the Pro (non Max) is up to 4 hours more than the Xs. So I am reckoning that equates to 4.5 hours between x and 11 Pro.

Yeah silicone not so bad though last year I found a midnight blue silicone cover for my previous model that I hadn't used for fear of getting dirty then forgot about it. Had stuck a cheap silicone on with plans to swap around. I sold it on eBay for £10 so that was a waste of money!

Just noticed that the Pro still only has dual optical image stabilisation (wide and telephoto). So not on the ultra wide lens.

It's debatable whether optical image stabilisation is needed on such a wide lens. Back when I had a DSLR, the longer lenses benefited most from stabilisation due to shake being magnified. On the flip side, you only have to look at what GoPro did with their Hero 7 Black action camera to see how impressive image stabilisation can be on their wide lenses.

The cynic inside also wants to say Apple need to leave some gaps that they can plug this time next year.

yes, the store will go down at some point early friday, and then it comes back up at 1pm you will see the buy option where the current 'view prices' button is.

once you choose your model, you'll see the usual expected date for delivery or you can then select store pick up.

Personally with regards to trying to justify....

either you want it or you don’t.. getting strangers on a forum to justify it at this cost is pointless.

I’m buying it because I look forward to buying it every year, I work hard, don’t drink or smoke etc and this is my enjoyment.. I also use my camera a hell of a lot with a little one. Don’t care if people think it’s an upgrade or not
[doublepost=1568203933][/doublepost]One thing I am mightily miffed about.... no USB C!! Wtf Apple

I do like my GoPro 4 for wide angle shots and mine is pretty old but it feels more of a faff to use and the battery like sucks especially when I forget to to turn it off!.

most of us on here are fanboys/girls so we'll be buying regardless!

I've just picked up an Xr as i've sold my XS... will see how I feel about the screen once i open it up!

Apple retails stores have dropped £50 ($100 in the states) off the price of the XS/Max. chap still thinks IUP is open (i know someone asked before)

I gotta tell you, I think that white Pro Max may be calling my name (along with a clear case).
the clear case is hard plastic right?

urgh.. not sure if i'll like the feel of that! and the Apple mark up for something you could get on ebay/amazon (for a clear hard shell) will be exorbitant
