Yeah they're all unlocked.

I bought mine 'sim free' from them as there is an option to do so without a SKY data plan.
I knew I could get a sim only deal cheaper than what they were offering so going to do it that way
FANTASTIC!

Though TBH I'm happy with the 10Gb for £10 I got today, unlimited calls and texts as I have TV and BB with them.

EE called back at ten past one, processed payment and was sorted for launch day with a green iPhone Pro. Top service.

TBF that's not bad at all but I use just over 10GB each month and have a mate who works at o2 who can get me a great SIM Only deal, so it's more cost effective for me to go through him!
Otherwise I'd have prob dived in on that 10GB!

they've somehow defaulted to showing iPhone Payment prices not IUP... makes no difference, you tell them at the appointment which method you want to go down

Doesn't align with their normal financing options however?

Having a sudden realisation of clarity and buyers remorse... see what others think about this.

I have the X 64GB and the only reason I want to upgrade this year is for the ultra-wide lens + camera upgrade that I will use for 2 big trips coming up to Japan and Jamaica in the next year. I 100% will only keep it for 1 year, because to me USB-C alone is worth upgrading next year (never mind promotion, reverse charging etc...).

Pre-ordered 256GB (need 128 really for travel) XS Max 258GB. I am now seriously thinking instead of getting the regular 11 for just the ultawide camera, and losing my telephoto one.

Here's the staggering difference in price between them on the iPhone Upgrade Programme

iPhone 11 128 GB - £69 + 11*42.95 = £541.45 for the year
11 Pro Max 256GB - £69 + 11*71.45 = £855.5 for the year

=> The normal 11 is a staggering £313.5 cheaper for the year. For that I lose

1. Telephoto camera (which to be fair I have enjoyed on the X, but I am sure I will enjoy the ultrawide more)
2. Battery life - probably 2-3 hours less battery life compared to Pro Max, but more than my current X
3. Screen - I probably need to assess this in person, because I do love my current OLED screen.

I need to do some thinking. That is a lot of money, which I am finding harder to justify now...

You have to keep an eye on sky, this is the third time they've changed their packages in two months, I signed my wife up to them in July and she got 1Gb for £6, then I upgraded it to 2Gb for £6, today they're back to 1Gb for £6. £10 for 10Gb was good value as then next package down, 3Gb was £12/month.

Yeah this is a tough choice.. Can't you just take a cameras with you to the trip?

Can we get these in the UK? I've always had a case, but tempted to go without for the midnight green, this could be a good compromise!
It should be available very soon on amazon as they currently stock it for the XS Max https://amzn.to/2AhQKjg - give it a couple days I think

Hmmmm

Got a an 11 Pro reserved for Apple Uprgade next Friday

But I can move from Three to EE for 100GB data and 2 Benefits for £71 a moth (get 20% discount)

Any comments on EE? Not been with them for years after having problems

I am all ready having 2nd thoughts on 11 Pro vs 11, I just don't think if it's worth the extra £320 when I will want to upgrade to the top offering next year...

Yes but that difference is the premium between the models and the capacity. Comparing apples with oranges (excuse the pun again) isn’t a fair comparison.

If you can get by on the 11 and it’s enough for you then great, if you feel you need the pro then you’ll have that premium to pay.

You gotta think about what you really need and can afford to spend

If £313 is a lot of money to you then go for the cheaper option.

Three STILL not showing the iphone 11 for pre-order. They are clearly having issues...

I did reserve a PM but want to do an upgrade on 3...

ordered me and my wife an 11 each. Both 64GB models. 30GB data each, £50 upfront, £44 per month. Happy with that, just under our £45 top limit.

Yeah this is a tough choice.. Can't you just take a cameras with you to the trip?

So I have spent quite some time thinking about this. I currently own a Canon G7X (one of the best compact 1" sensor cameras" my missus owns a Canon 5D SLR. I went out shooting with all 3 recently on a trip, and basically... I preferred the X most times.

iPhone camera: even on the X, the dynamic range is just stupidly good. I enjoy sunset and landscape shots, and the HDR here really shines. XS with Smart HDR is much better, as my mate has one and we went shooting together to compare. Where the iPhone falls is low light, and overall "crispness" (to use a terrible word but one I think makes most sense...) to the image. If I print one out, I can instantly see so many imperfections whereas both the Canon's do a MUCH better job. Canon's however can not compete with dynamic range and just leads to blown out highlights. I have spent a good 30 minutes in Lightroom with HDR and automatic exposure bracketing to try and make the 3 canon shots look as good as the iPhone ones on default, and I can, but this is not a "fun" process. Overall, I enjoy just having the best version of my photos right there and then, without putting a lot of editing effort in.

tl:dr iPhone vs Canon dedicated cameras - iPhone wins on ease of use and dynamic range ; Canon wins on image quality but worse dynamic range.

Add night mode (which looks quite nice, not daylight like Google) and ultra-wide (separate lens which I don't own) and I am 100% sold on iPhone 11. Question is... which one...
