I have a brainteaser for you guys..

I've bought the iPhone Pro Max 256GB direct & SIM Free from Apple. I am with Vodafone and pay them about £20 a month.

I usually upgrade every other year, but with the rumours of the 2020 iPhone to be a major one, I will probably be tempted to upgrade.

I've been reading up on the iUP this evening too...

Which is better value for me?
I’m in an exact similar situation, ive reserved the iphone in store for next week to join iUP as I pay £20 a month for my contract

I know I’ll more than likely upgrade next year if the rumoured updates happen as well

Those of us picking up in store, when do our cards get charged? Sorry never done it before!

I didn’t choose iUP or anything just put in card details via Apple Pay..

no hold on my card as yet and presumably we won’t see preparing for dispatch etc?

Weds/thurs I think as they batch em up and send out to stores

Sorry if this has been covered already, but is anyone else who ordered from Apple Store online not seeing their order in the ‘My Orders’ section since the orders page has come back online this evening?
Did you check out via desktop and pay with Apple Pay on a different device by any chance? If so I believe you need to look up your order number and then link to your account

I had one email saying the order had been "successful", but about 90 minutes later I received an email saying the order had been "confirmed". Then 2 minutes later I received another email about my "new preorder".

I ordered an iPhone 11 Pro 256GB in Gold. I received the "successful order" email at 14:39, and then the "order confirmation" at 16:07. The person I've spoken to just now has said delivery is expected on launch date, but he offered no guarantee.

I note for your reference that the last time (over a year ago) I attempted an order with EE I received the email notifying me the order was "successful" immediately, then 30 or so minutes later I received an email saying the credit check was unsuccessful.

I have a gold reserved. Never had that colour before, have you?

What’s the best way to pay off my iUP loan and then get the AppleCare refund?

Do I need to pay off first then ask for the refund?

Any way but as you have to cancel the AppleCare with apple, it takes them a few days to process the payment to Barclays. They would usually reduce tour balance by that amount but if you’ve settled your loan then Barclays will just refund you ( to the account that the direct debit is set up on)

Does anyone know when the reserve phones change? I mean at the moment there's no green one's to reserve. Might that change on a daily basis?

I choose this every time basically I do it and then sell my iPhone privately making more money then pay off towards the loan and pay off the rest in full then no more loan

I mean Barclays finance or PayPal finance you pay ~15% APR. If you’re just keeping you’re phone a year, would wouldn’t you do IUP and pay 0%?

Stopped at a service station at 12:55 and ordered from there! Space Gray 11PM 256GB arriving on the 20th. Decided to get it sent to my parent’s address as I won’t be in during the day.

Usually there’s no additional phones available to reserve until the day after launch.

Any idea if this is possible? I've heard of people buying a new iPhone using their credit card and then when they go and pick it up they ask to go onto the Apple Upgrade Programme. Apple then refunds your credit card and enrols you onto the programme.

Do those of us picking up in store not get the ‘excitement’ of watching our order ship etc? Looks like our timeline just shows ‘processing - check in - pick up’

Or do we get tracking info?

Yes did that for the X. I didn’t pick up in store, it was delivered. I then went into store, they refunded it back to a gift card, quickly then scanned it and put me through the iup application process and when that was successful, they then refunded the gift card back to my account. Didn’t take more than 20 mins.

The reason they put it on a gift card was that if there then was an issue say with the iup application, I could have just bought the phone back again. This stopped them refunding my credit card with would have taken a few days and then having to charge it again if I couldn’t get onto iup.

Thanks. Might try that then. Unsure about the gold and wanted green. Need to go on the upgrade programme though as credit card will incur interest.

Ok so I didn’t change my phone to a different model, I just took the same phone but on iup. If you’re looking to change the phone you bought to a different colour, that will depend on walk in stock available.

That is of course unless you have a reservation for another phone and do the swap

Anyone with any similar experiences? :)

Thanks guys now that’s strange; no movement on mine:rolleyes:, the green 256s seem to be moving along faster than the 64s !

i ordered the green iphone 11 pro max in 64gb, email 13;01 and is preparing to ship.

Call apple. They might be able to do something before your card gets charged!

I will give them a bell tomorrow as they're shut now :(
My credit card is showing as pending for two phones so probably will need to return it!

Does anyone know if refusing delivery works?
