@Jinjin Do I just go through the IUP process in the Apple Store App but tell them I want iPhone Payments when I go and pick up in store (obviously the price for IUP a month is around £40 as opposed to around £30 for iPhone Payments)?

Don’t go through the iup process. Go to your appointment and tell them you’ll pay using iPhone payments and not iup

No, they still show iPhone Payments as 20 months. The below screen shot is just now from the website

There’s this other mystery 24 month 0% they keep referencing but don’t advertise
They still show it yes but when you actually go through it only gives the 24 month option. You don’t get the 20 month option at check out

Looks like if you’re reserving online you can only choose the 24 month option, but instore I guess you’ll just tell them you want the 20 month finance

This is strange; I reserved a gold 256GB 11 Pro Max to pick up in London (there next week) for £71.45 a month over 20 months and including AppleCare plus, then;
Closer to home, the same phone, this time to pick up near where I live for £53.99 a month, this time over 24 months and not including AppleCare plus?
I didn't think you could get on the upgrade programme without AC+?

I'm crap at maths but is this right?
A; £71.45 X 20 = £1429 (includes AppleCare Plus)
B; £53.99 X 24 = £1295.76 + AppleCare Plus (£199) = £1494.76

So A is the best option? Although I'll get £100 refunded from my current AC+. As I say, I'm crap at maths so ?!!!

Anyone who’s employer uses ‘corporate perks’ I’ve just checked and whist there an not discounts on phones, there’s 10% on accessories. A fiver off the case!

Really  how generous ! I‘d prob get the green watch band at some point!

Ok so I caved in. I’ve pre ordered a pro max. Through Very though for the 12 months interest free.

I’ve sold current XS max to mazuma for £590. Should have looked into that earlier. I’ll never learn.........

Would make sense if it did. But why would then apple go to all the trouble of producing the web content for IP over 20 months and showing all the corresponding prices on the website if they didn’t offer it.

May be the case both are on offer.

Looking at the screen specs of the XS vs iPhone 11, the XS is actually far superior as it has HDR and a much higher pixel count + its body is stainless steel vs aluminium of the iPhone 11.

Hmm, it may actually feel like a downgrade then dropping from XS to the 11! BUGGER......!

I ordered twice - once through the app using ‘pay Via other method’ and choosing pickup; one frog he website using the iPhone payments/reserve link I posted earlier. Both basically pickup. But the emails from Apple are very different.

‘the app one has what looks like payment info even though I think they shouldn’t have taken payment, and it has an order number.

If A is IUP then you need to add £69 deposit
If B is iPhone payments, you need to add £20 deposit, and last payment is smaller to round it off. Overall is always 0% so the price of the phone but you’re paying over a shorter period so higher per month

eg phone payments for 11 64gb : £20 + (23 x £29.99) + £19 = £729. Add AppleCare £149 = £898

One included apple care the other doesn’t.

Both are 0% over 20 payments
Apologies for bombarding you tonight!

So iUP comes with apple care
iphone payments doesn’t come with Apple Care

So i imagine with IUP you just hand the phone over in 12 months time and get a new one?
Whereas with iphone payments you keep the phone regardless for 20 months, unless you sell it privately then use that money to pay off the balance?

I’m completely new to IUP, sorry

Yup that’s pretty much it, but there seems to be an option for 24 month payments rather than 20 if using something resembling the iPhone payment plan.

iPhone payments....

When I use the website, it suggests payments over 24 months with 20 deposit (and final payment may not be the same as the previous 23 months)

When I use the app, it suggests payments over 20 months with a 69 deposit.

Not sure what to read into this, but it seems the website t&c are suggesting more flexibility in the payment plan, as it also includes potential for trade in or larger deposit.

That’s right. After 11 payments on IUP apple let you “upgrade”. You basically give apple your phone and they pay off the balance of the loan. You then start a brand new IUP, £69 deposit again etc.

But don’t do that! Sell it privately and pay it off yourself, you will be better off as you’ll get more money than your remaining loan.

With IP it’s just a 20 month loan. Nothing stopping you in a years time, selling phone and paying off the loan and starting it all again for the 2020 phone.

If you want Apple care, and given the phone is glass front and back and the cost of a non apple care repair, then the IUP is the way to go

Someone needs to ask in store.... those geniuses will know for use lol

Of course you can just hand the phone back - that’s the whole point of the IUP.

I’m currently on IUP. I have reserved an iPhone for pick up next week. When I go to collect, I can hand my XS back, and, the IUP on that phone is then cleared and settled (the action of handing back the phone pays off the remaining balance). I can then choose whether to opt for IUP or iPhone Payments for the new phone.

.....or are you referring to next year when you say I can’t just hand the phone back?

I would double check your terms and conditions. I have a feeling you can only “hand the phone back” to pay off the loan if you then subsequently upgrade to this year’s model on the iUP. I could be wrong though.

You’re probably better off selling privately anyway if you can be bothered.
