I had that case on my silver XS last year. It’s a lovely colour to begin with and looks great once it starts to age and wear a bit. I’ve gone with the pine green silicone case for my green Pro Max (I still can’t say that name without shuddering. Makes me think of a cold and flu tablet)
I like the pine green but not a big fan of silicone cases. They seem to collect an unnatural amount of dust from my pockets and always seem to be hard to get out of my pocket.

that would stop a lot of it yes. No reason Apple couldn’t. Even dummy units.
Apple will have undoubtedly made a conscious decision not to do this.

They will know to the nth degree what works better to sell units and hype is certainly one of them.

I suspect their research told them that they’d sell less phones if they had them in store a week before (real or dummy).

Apple is a well oiled machine and you can guarantee they don’t do anything without having researched the living daylights out of every single other option.

Makes me laugh how guaranteed year after year the carriers manage to balls this up so badly!!

same crap every year!! Pathetic really.
I agree, it’s like they all watched the keynote and suddenly discovered a new iPhone was coming out.

Really? Well I guess I'm going for the same case as you then!
I find clear cases look amazing on the silver model but on any other colour, they mute the look of the stainless steel band so that it looks washed out.

I always start out with a silicone case for better grip while the phone is new and i’m still paranoid about dropping it. Once it gets tatty, I’ll go for leather.

I done this with the X, in the end I just left it because it means putting it back into stock for a brief moment.
They said they’d do it quickly but if someone reserves it in that time you would lose the phones.
Ahhh. That’s a slight concern then. I’ll assess the situation when I pickup. Thankfully I’ve gone for silver and gold non-max so stock for those should be okay anyway.

Do the silicone actually get tatty? I expected it to look solid the full life of the phone lol.

Anyone gone with o2 here?

I wonder if I should be concerned that my order is still showing as “in progress”

It’s going to be a longgggg 6 days aha!
Based on years of past experience the status might not change until the middle of the night next Thursday - After you have gone to sleep thinking your phone won't turn up on launch day - and then BINGO it arrives.
O2 aren't great at keeping their order tracking system up to date with the real world

Just unpaired my watch and everything to take to CEX!

didn't realise they require the charger! As I’m away I don’t have it (I use the apple dock) so now I’m stuck with an unpaired Watch and no way of trading it in until next weekend!! :(

there’s goes any value! Mind you I guess worst case I could use Apple trade in
You could buy a charger at CEX. The small cost of that is probably less than the loss in value of the watch

This is what worries me!! Thinking I may end up with a green leather case or something. It better be a damn good plastic case for £45!!

I'm worried when dust gets between it and the phone it’ll start to damage it. My current phone side and back are absolutely mint! And that’s being left out and used for music on building sites, covered in dust etc..

screen has some light marks as I’ve not used a protector on it. Last year is the first year I haven’t had a screen protector on. Mostly I was fed up with not enjoying my phone how Apple intended so decided against a protector

Same here.... Cannot see why I should pay £55 for the Leather when you can get a great one for half the price:- ESR Premium Real Leather Designed for iPhone 11 Pro Max Case, Slim Full Leather Phone Case [Supports Wireless Charging] [Scratch-Resistant] Protective Case for iPhone 11 Pro Max, Green https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07VP4418M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_.anFDbHFYJPN8

Yes, the reason I wouldn’t buy another silicon. Bottom part where the case is open crumbles apart and also the area around the volume button. Mine lasted a year.

One downside of this case is that the bottom (by the speaker grille and lightning port) remains u protected

this is another decent option if you like leather. https://amzn.to/2LvLbUZ

I suspect I’ll end up with an Apple leather case in either green or something that helps show the phone off a bit.

My leather case has been on my phone literally for the whole of the last year and it’s held up well. Deffo has some “character” now

I’ve noticed hardly no one on these forums ever posts a wallet type iPhone case. But I see them all over in public

I can never figure out the “I’m not upgraders” they ALL cave in and potentially miss pre order day!!
Well I was going to get my husband a new phone anyway, probably an XR as he is still using my old 7plus. Then I figured that I might as well give him my Xs Max and get a new one. One day I'll say I'm not upgrading and mean it.

Has anyone pre ordered their new iPhone from Amazon?

Decided to try this route as they offer to spread the cost over 5 monthly instalments interest-free. They’re giving an estimated delivery of 21st September so let’s hope this is true!
That’s interesting. Where abouts are you seeing that?

Am I the only one, who uses their phone naked?

I have only dropped and cracked my phone twice in 10 years(iPhone 5 and SE).

I am against using the case, it’s like buying a brand new leather sofa and then putting a plastic cover over it? I mean what’s the point?

Yes there is a risk, but I would rather live my life to the fullest than bubblewrap everything and play it safe.

Personal choice is a wonderful thing :)

And a good case enhances the look, rather than detracting in my opinion.
