It’ll be a pre-authorisation, like most card charges will be at the moment. It depends on the bank and the vendor but it’s always been around three days for me. I’ve seen it take up to a week though.

Thanks. That's such a long time to wait considering they took the amount almost instantly and claim I'm not being charged.

Seems like Apple are having some system issues - customer service phone line is have technical problems, can't view my online order (says there's an error), live chat doesn't connect to anyone hmm..

Been trying to cancel my order and had an email through saying it was cancelled and I wouldn't be charged..

...but just checked my bank balance and the amount has been deducted.

My order for Apple Watch series 6 I ordered last week has disappeared from the site. Must just be a bug.

Apple struggling today
Meanwhile Apple handing out discounts for pro

common Amazon, show Apple how’s its done 😂

Yup, it’s a oft-repeated frustration of the banking system!

I’m waiting on a refund off £500 which was processed on Monday. Still no sign of it. They’re damn quick taking the money though.

5G UW is not available on U.K. models, however no carrier has 5G UW as OFCOM hasn’t auctioned them off yet.
The bands that carriers in the U.K. are currently using are all available on the U.K. version of the iPhone.

OK, but ...

Does the difference mean that there will be challenges when someone with the UK model visits the US?

Shouldn't be as to my knowledge the UK model supports most of the 5G bands in the US other than the UW ones which are mainly used is urban areas & stadiums to boost speed and capacity. check out apples 5g page to compare bands https://www.apple.com/uk/iphone/cellular/ from what i can tell the UK/EU model is just missing bands n71, n260, n261

Finally got my other parts ordered, case and wallet: Kinda hate how everything arrives at weird awkward times haha. Why leather wallet is not there until November... is it just because the Max isn't out until then?

...yea, I’m kinda miffed that the MagSafe wallets aren’t available until early November. Apple should have told us this during the announcement and not let people assume that all the accessories would be available to pre-order today along with the phones.

Currys still have them for release day delivery for the same price. At least they did half an hour ago. Might be an option unless you’re using the IUP?
Thanks for the reply! I'm doing a trade-in of my old iPhone 8 so probably will stick with the apple store order... But it's nice to know Curry's still has them in stock!

For those interested you can still get a launch day delivery or collection with CPW, and if you trade your phone in they are adding £50 to it

Example: 64gb 11 Pro gives £505 + £50 at the moment which is a very good price considering everyone has dropped theirs now the 12 has been announced.
Ah that’s good to know.. just wish they had silver 128gb in stock!

edit: whoops misread as Currys

So mine still says waiting om hold whilst Barclays approves. I spoke to Barclays earlier at about 14:30 and they confirmed I had been approved. Site not showing that though.... I bet I dont get to keep my Friday collection..

With 5G UW yes, it won’t be able to access it. However you should be able to access non UW bands (depending on who your Network sends you too and their coverage). However the US will probably have a wide network of non UW 5g coverage, including in areas where they have UW, as UW doesn’t have as much reach as non UW does.

Just been chatting with an Apple Support Rep (about a different issue) who has confirmed that the orders aren't fully viewable and that their systems are on a major go-slow. Not that we needed any confirmation as we can see that for ourselves, but still thought it was nice to have acknowledgement from an Apple rep themselves.

Marking my annual place on the thread. Blue 12 Pro Max will be on order as soon as they're on pre-order. In the meantime I'll watch you all. It's the first time I haven't been in the thick of it on release day. Odd.

May as well get a 5G SIM from EE, upgrade from 4G on EE, ideally didn’t want a 24 month but is that all what seem to be getting?

In my upgrade options online is all seems to be offered. Always had decent signal, but rather have 12 month in case.

Also the SIM with a smart benefit could be good value to add Apple music, only going to cost extra £4 for it, worth it?

What are people getting? Send can get 200Gb with Apple Music 5G for £23/month - good?

What are others getting please

Of course I'm still buying the Pro Max as well but had to have a piece of the action...

I remember somebody on here posted on here a few months ago claiming they had been an engineer on Apple’s web platforms in the recent past.

They said that while the front end is very shiny and modern, the back-end systems are extremely antiquated and are (probably) still running on a decades-old technology called WebObjects.

That would certainly explain some of the issues on the site today.

I must say, my own order went through fine at 13:01 but I then tried to place another order for a friend and couldn’t even get near the site. I don’t personally remember Apple’s online store struggling so much but maybe it’s just selective memory.
