But this is something I don’t understand, Apple will be making A LOT of money from sales, and a lot of exposure. I’m pretty sure that the last thing they care about is other sites and channels also getting big £££ out of Apple’s creation

That's very narrow thinking, Apple’s whole philosophy is secrecy and marketing. Who do they invite when they do event announcements? The media. All these tech journals have received review units and have been a big part in playing the role of building Apple’s PR for years.

Embargo's also promote that people have spent a good amount of time using it before hasty comments. If there was no embargo it would be a free for all for who can upload the quickest and the content will be inaccurate.

For an average consumer, they will always prefer to go into the store and look at the device before spending such a large amount on a phone. You're just making finicky comments because you're just excited, we get it. Just chill and wait another day when the hands on videos come out in Tuesday, at the end of the day it's only a phone.

Anyone have experience with Rebuy? DPD collect the phone and seal the package in Rebuy packaging, im just worried something might happen with DPD... phone gets swapped out or stolen etc

if they did that they’d be in breach of uk sales of goods act and would have to send out the product we ordered. Amazon would only be able to cancel the order before taking our money if they take the money they are accepting the contract. Plus the colours aren’t matching I ordered a graphite model and there isn’t a graphite 12 only a 12 pro.

Lol we will be lucky to get ANY iPhone 12 pro for the price advertised.. even if it is something we didn't order explicitly

Any idea when we might be able to start tracking shipments like the American thread seems to be able to do?

My order is at “preparing for shipment” for the last two days.

The likelihood is that the UK iPhones are already in a distribution centre in the UK (Hinckley, near Nuneaton) and that we won’t get tracking details unti they are dispatched from there on Thursday.

May be it will be irrelevant to accessories.
Ordered the 20W adapter for delivery of 20th. Today 18th received for Royal Mail tracking. Not DPD for accessories tho.

Also led me to another string of thought on saving of environmental
Small accessories, separate boxing and separate shipping. Sorry my bad side personality of grounded optimism.

Do you know, can you change the smart benefit at any time or are you stuck with whichever one you choose at the beginning?

You can change every month through the app or online however when I originally took out a smart SIM, they said that if you call customer services and ask nicely, they'll switch you to something else any time - for example if there was a single football match on BT Sport you fancied.

i will be with you in complaining. While I expect they will cancel I also think they should honour the orders. In the end of the day they get so much money from me a year they should swallow the generally minor loss in relative terms for them. I do wonder how many orders they got. Maybe a 1000 orders meaning they lost £20k overall (assuming average loss of £200).

I’ve never seen a business page like Apple’s on Amazon so I did wonder myself whether it was amazon who set the price or Apple. We could be blaming amazon if they cancel our orders but it could be apple’s fault. I don’t think the iPhone’s on amazon sold out I think they were pulled. I was trying to order the 256gb first in all colours and it kept erroring at different points and the 512gb models were nowhere to be seen so I think somebody was manually pulling them from being sold.

Oh I'll be complaining if they cancel. Between you and me, I won't be particularly bothered but as far as Amazon are concerned I'll be livid - in a polite way. ;)

Whoever inputs the prices, it's ultimately going to be Amazon who're responsible. It's either Amazon stock they might have to take a hit on, or it's Apple stock being sold by Amazon and Apple will take the hit. Either way, as the customers, it's not really our problem as I see it.

Who knows how much the financial hit will be? Maybe they sold 1000, maybe they sold 100,000. I do agree that the listings were pulled rather than sold out.

The 512GB version sells for £1,299 meaning a £450 loss on every handset. Realistically, the loss could be anywhere from £20,000 to about £12m, depending on the numbers sold and the distribution of models they had.

This is correct. I'm very much hoping to see the money leave my credit card because that's the point of no return for Amazon!

Just wish I'd been a bit smarter and got the 512GB as they were ALL £849 weren't they?

On the Amazon thing, I just saw somebody on another forum saying they'd had an e-mail..

Hello,

We're contacting you about order ####. We recently discovered an error that caused the following item(s) to be displayed at an incorrect price:

In this case, we're unable to offer this item for the incorrectly posted price. Therefore, we've cancelled your order for this item, and you haven't been charged.

At any given time, despite our best efforts, a small number of the millions of items on our site may be mispriced. We're very sorry for any disappointment this may cause.

To help make up for the inconvenience, we've applied a £20.00 Amazon.co.uk Gift Card to your account. This amount will be applied to your next eligible order automatically without entering a claim code.

We value your business and hope to see you again soon.

Sincerely,

Customer Service
Amazon.co.uk

I can't vouch for it's validity. I did also find one genius scoundrel who says he knew the Amazon orders would be cancelled but managed to get Currys live chat to price match! So he definitely has an iPhone Pro coming to him on Friday for £849, if the story is true. If not, it's still a great idea!

Curry’s will most likely cancel. Same situation happened when Apple Watch series 6 came out. Argos had the 44mm at £299 and a lot of people price matched with currys. A few days later, they chased it up and said they won’t be honouring it as Argos told them it was a price glitch.

If anyone lives in London, the 12 pro blue is available for pick up in regent street for Saturday 24th October. Would hurry up and order if you live nearby as i doubt it’ll stay like that.

There’s always that possibility but if only one or two people managed to do it, they might just sneak though.

Been “preparing for shipment” for since Saturday. Any ideas when/if we can track anything before Wednesday/Thursday? Got my case and charger supposedly getting delivered on Wednesday.

Also any idea on who will actually be delivering our phones? In the past had DPD, DHL, UPS, FedEx

The point of no return is when they dispatch the order:

“We only accept your offer, and conclude the contract of sale for a product ordered by you, when we dispatch the product to you and send e-mail confirmation to you that we've dispatched the product to you (the "Dispatch Confirmation E-mail")

The person that posted the cancellation email is trolling - before this they said it was dispatched and later that they woke up to a pending payment.

Upgrading from a launch day iPhone 7 so I’m very excited but at the same time also hoping I don’t regret not waiting for the Pro Max...just felt it’d probably be too big for my daily use.

That might be their terms and conditions however the law says different.

Woke up this morning seeing 2 pending transactions on my credit card (iPhone 12/12 Pro) finally being charged so I think us launch day estimates are all good! Only just need the days to go quicker

I used to them to sell a phone recently. Some confusion over the pickup date (they said next day then changed to Monday, but DPD turned up on Sat - my fault for doing the order after hours on a Thur I guess). No issues though, phone arrived and money credited straight away.

Oddly enough though, if I marked my phone as very good, it was valued higher than like new.
