Hi everyone. Need some advice, I have ordered an iPhone 12 for collection on Friday at the apple store and now I'm thinking of getting into the iup. Will I be able to do it in store on the day. Also, can i change the phone later on if im not happy with the size of 12 if i sign up to iup?
Anyone please

Vodafone is really good, I'm with them too. They also are the only network to have 5G in my area too! I'm excited to put that to the test on Friday haha
I don’t think they have 5G in my area yet but the 4G speeds are apparently much better than O2 who I was with before. I’m not too bothered about 5G to be honest but very much looking forward to a better service.

Buys me the Anker 30w charger I’d be alright with that.

All pro models were priced at £849. I never saw the 512gb ones as they were already pulled from the site but 256gb defo were. Hopefully the 128gb is classed as a reasonable loss.
I purchased the 128GB version on the (probably faulty) theory that if Amazon will honour any of these sales it is most likely to honour those that are closer to retail pricing. I am under no illusions that the phone actually ships, but one can hope...

I ordered the 256gb, as that was the page I had open at the time 😂

Neither Apple nor Amazon have taken any £ yet, but i know Amazon only charge when they send the item. Come on Jeff, don’t let us down!

Ok apple care cancelled on my 11 pro on IUP. That’s £91 back for that plus the £640 I should get from magpie gives me a nice sum of £730. £531 to pay back to Barclays leaves me £200 up over just returning the phone as a part of the standard iup process!

Happy days

What prompted you to go on iUP in the first place?

Voda just have a lot more spectrum than O2 for 4G. In terms of raw coverage they're fairly similar as they did have a mast sharing agreement historically.

Hi team. Have a launch day 12 waiting for collection, considering the IUP - I'm sure there's loads of thoughts, so - hit me up - IUP - has it worked for people? Or is it BS?

I always buy my phones yearly outright and sell the following year before starting the process again. It was apple breaking the £1000 mark, only offering 64gb or 256gb which pushed the price up more. At that price I knew I needed AppleCare for peace of mind. So IUP basically gave me a way to not fork it out in one lump to apple!

Now that they’ve made the 24 month Barclays finance so easy to do on preorder I’ve gone down that route for me 12 pro

This is actually a case study for undergrads, Online price changes after the purchase has gone through was once the hot topic. Unfortunately they are within their rights as the listing price is not legally binding. It’s an invitation to treat and the offer is never unilateral, or has it been accepted until they issue the dispatch confirmation email.

There is a valid counter argument that the order confirmation would communicate acceptance, but as your charge will be pending there is no consideration. There is also a term (escapes me) that essentially rules the order confirmation as “if accepted your order will be this, cost this, and arrive by then”. However Amazon have been known to honour prices as goodwill, another poster suggested they offer a gift card for instance. It comes down to contract rather than the consumer debate.

Qualified lawyers can use bigger words, but this practise is at worst dishonest rather than illegal. Sorry :(
This is correct.

Don’t use IUP to just hand back your phone the following year and start a new plan. You’ll be quids in by selling and just paying off Barclays direct.

Now that you can get 24 months at 0% and the signup is all online, IUP is redundant in my eyes.

There will be people happy enough to use it though and just trade in with Apple at the end... but it’s given them ~£200 for no reason

I used it first for the XS Max and then the upgrade last year to 11 Pro Max. I intend to use it this year for 12 Pro Max.

I like the idea of paying monthly for ‘having an iPhone’. That’s the way I see it - I’ve baked the cost in to my life in the same way one would an electricity bill or whatever. It’s still much much cheaper (and less miserable) than getting an actual phone contract out with a network.

It’s definitely more cost effective to sell the phone and pay the loan off instead of handing back to Apple, but I don’t want the hassle or risk, and the inspection of the device is done quickly in front of you and you would just have to pay the AC surcharge if you had anything majorly wrong with it. I just like the smooth and quick process of handing the phone back to Apple and getting the new one all at the same time. Also means no shocks to the bank account.

It is however frustrating to have to go to a store to do it. But alas, it’s only once a year...

I have to confess that I’m not genned up on these as yet but do I understand correctly that you need, for example, the MagSafe Charger (“puck”) at £39 😱 AND the 20w USBC Power Adapter at £19? A total of £58? 😱😱😱

Yep. And I imagine that separating the MagSafe Charger from the phone will be a two hand job, so why not just use the cable? I'll use a QI charger: it might be slower, but it's fine for overnight changing, and can place and lift off one handed.
