.....I received a Barclays statement the other day (not sure why as my account was cleared in April this year) which showed that back in September 2018, my IUP cost me a whopping £1129 for my iPhone XS

.......just WHAT was I thinking????!

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Kinda cements my decision to not upgrade again this year and get a new 2020 iPad Air instead (when its released), which will cost less than half the price of my phone!!
Which colour iPad Air you going for?

Circling back to my earlier comment re: 5.8” is the perfect size for me and I’ll miss it, if the leaks are correct it looks like the screen to body ratio of the iPhone 12 6.1” has been improved and it’s physical size will be very similar to the current iPhone 11 Pro.

In my head I was comparing it to an iPhone 11 6.1” but that’s a little bit chunky and has larger bezels.

I have never before even considered purchasing a new iPhone on launch, but I’m currently using a 1st gen iPhone SE that I bought back in late 2017. After 3 years the prospect of a similarly sized phone with a 5.4” screen and the latest internals has really piqued my interest and I’m quite likely going to upgrade this time.

There’s one thing I don’t quite understand though (or hope I’ve misunderstood). In order to pre-order a new iPhone, do you have to be part of the iPhone Upgrade Program. I’d like to just pay in full and keep the same phone for a few years. Does that mean I have to wait for a second batch of stock a couple of months later?

You don’t have to be part of the upgrade program to pre order. In previous years you can either order for delivery on launch day or reserve to pick up in store, both offer payment in full as an option.

..space grey.

I do like the new colours - was debating to go for the blue one but decided it looks too much like a baby blue colour so gonna be boring with space grey!!!
I struggle with coloured tech myself because I get bored quick, always end up with black/white/space grey/silver. 🤣

I think I may go for the white/silver combo this time round.
I always go with the silver, mainly because it matches my stainless steel watch but also because you can easily buff out any scratches. I used some cape cod wipes the other day around the edges of my iPhone 11 Pro and it’s like new again. Just have to be careful not to touch the screen with them.

Although, I really fancy a blue, to go with my new S6 watch. 👀

My sister lives in the UK and was planning on getting a new iPhone 12, but it's crazy how marked up it is for you guys compared to US or Canada. For example a 64GB iPhone 11 is 720GBP which is $1253 CAD, while its $1028 CAD here with taxes! I just told her to come here during Christmas and we'll buy a phone here and she can take it back as a "personal device". ;)

Aren’t there issues should she need a replacement though as British Apple Stores wouldn’t replace a North American iPhone? You’re right, we are ripped off here on price and that’s probably the reason the iPhone 11 sold so well as opposed to the iPhone 11 Pro. People aren’t stupid.

I think you are right, if there was a problem with the phone it would have to be returned to the country it was purchased in.

Anyone else getting hopeful for an announcement tomorrow (6th) of invites to the virtual event on the 13th?
When Apple did the time flies event last month they invited a week prior to the event. Fingers crossed we get an invite tomorrow if the rumours on dates are correct.

I’ve had a iPhone from Hawaii replaced in Australia, screen died, was in the 1 year international warranty, we have 2 year warranty if purchased here though.

There are myths that larger Apple stores like London's Regent Street and Covent Garden keep a wider stock of replacement units, due to the increased chance of international visitors dropping in for Genius Bar appointments.

I'm not sure how true this is. I had a cellular gen 1 iPad I'd bought from the US upon release that picked up a fault - I had it replaced at the Birmingham store, but I'm not sure how different the US hardware was vs the UK version.

It would be nice to see an announcement tomorrow but i am wondering if it may be another week before we hear anything. Looking forward to it though as Airtags, perhaps the Studio Headphones, mini HomePods and maybe a diluted Airpower may be announced. I am not holding my breath for the 12 Pro Max as that may be a late November release.

If all the rumours are correct it looks like the 6.7" will be the only one with Lidar and possibly 120hz, if its all true though it defeats the "Pro" badge if the 6.1 lacks the same features of the 6.7.

They may as well ditch the 6.1 Pro keep the rest of the line up and offer only 1 true "Pro" model.

Of course until the event drops no one apart from Apple knows....

As long as you have AppleCare+ it’s covered world wide! We bought her an iPhone 8 a few years ago and it was serviced in Apple Store Covent Garden with no issues. They keep around replacements for international iPhones and even if they don’t they would just order it in. I think you might just miss a couple LTE bands in the European vs NA version but it doesn’t seem to be a problem in the UK.

now that upgrade would get me to buy the new iphone pro max i'm happy with my xs max but some big upgrades like 120hz screen better design 5G etc that might just push me over the edge to get it. Just an upgrade of the cameras like last years update would not entice me to get it.

I still fencing on getting a iPhone 12 Pro Max 256Gb version depends if they include the 120hz if just camera upgrades. I will downgrade to the normal iPhone 12 5.4 with a nice iPad Air 4 much better value for money....

personally I can’t see Apple doing that with the pros. Will already confuse an already crowded 12 lineup and as you can’t defeats the purpose of the 6.1” pro.

my money still on both pro version having the same features.

p.s. anyone else having issues with Tapatalk and these forums?

Would never get a Max as too big for me, so hope there won’t be any other differences apart from size.
ProMotion on the 6.1 Pro would make me consider upgrading this year.
And yes, was having issues signing in to Macrumors via Tapatalk earlier, seems to be sorted now.
