Regarding 5G... I'm on a Three sim only plan. According to their website 5G is available in only certain areas... and my work is in one of the zones. I wondered what the big antennae was that I saw them construct at the end of 2019 was.... shame the same can't be said about home though!

I'm hoping though that they'll introduce online iUP due to CoVid

Yes indeed. Whilst I am excited about the announcement, queuing up in my local shopping centre this year doesn't seem like something I want to do, and I am sure a lot of people would agree.

Upgrade online, get posted a bag to send the old phone back, get the new one on release day. job jobbed.

...hmm, I can’t see how the IUP will work WITHOUT going to a store to pick ?!

IIRC, when you select the new phone you wish to upgrade to via the Apple Store app, all that does is reserve you a handset in store. You then go to said store and that’s where they take your existing handset and/or pay off the balance on your existing phone and then they’ll sort out the payments for new IUP.

Can‘t really see a way how this would all work without you having to go to a store...

The US system works slightly different I think, you can get pre-approved for the loan and then ship your handset back? I could be wrong.

I think there biggest issue will be a smooth process for getting the old phone back without:
a) Making you post it back ahead of the new phone so they have it before you receive the new one
b) Taking a pre-auth on your card for the full value until they receive your old one

Have just locked in £640 for my pro 256gb. With magpie using ‘10extra’ to add £20.

Will look at sending that off after the announcement (hoping pre orders are then on the 16th for release on 23rd)

Might do what I did last year and buy an SE to tied me over.

I have £531 remaining on iup plus some cash from the AppleCare refund so should be circa £150 better off than just handing the phone back to Apple as a part of iup.

....perhaps prices have plummeted this year - Mazuma only offer me £100 to trade in my original iPad Air 2. Apple will offer me £130 if I go down the route of trading my old device for this year‘s 2020 iPad Air 2.

They’re also only offering £285 for my current iPhone XS - I’m pretty sure it’s worth more than that....!

I saw I got £704 for my 10xs 256gb last year from magpie (with a full 10% code not capped at £20) so been have been offered £640 at the time.

Given I got £620 this year it’s a slight drop.. but also a month later into the year

Regarding the upgrade program. Can you reserve on pre-order day for say the day after release? I don’t think I can get the Friday off work this year :(
I think as long as a slot is open you can future date an in store pickup, but I don't think you can for shipping. You would just have to go into tracking and request a hold, and I think you get a few days to pick it up.

Yea in US and did the iUP and favorite order all in the app. I picked in store pickup, but there was also a choice to have it shipped. If you pickup in store, you can just hand the current iPhone to them to process the trade, and they send it back. If you do shipping, a box comes separately to send back the current one.

Music Magpie offering £305 plus the extra £20 for my three year old X 64gb.

I generally upgrade every 3 years, so looking forward to seeing the launch and getting something a bit fresher.

I’ve just locked in at that price. Not too bad when compared to eBay.

Excited to see what’s new.
