Music Magpie offering £305 plus the extra £20 for my three year old X 64gb.

...that’s a good price considering Mazuma only offered me £285 for my TWO year old XS!

EDIT - How are you getting £305 for your iPhone X - Music Magpie only offer £289 for my NEWER iPhone XS?!

Music Magpie also only offers £130 for an iPad Air 2 which is exactly the same as what Apple offers when you trade it in with them. Not that great IMHO.

Regarding the upgrade program. Can you reserve on pre-order day for say the day after release? I don’t think I can get the Friday off work this year :(
This definitely is possible - I did this last year! I was away during the announcement and flying back late on the Friday release day so wanted to collect on Saturday.

The only thing is, last year you couldn't make an iUP appointment for anything other than the Friday. So I went the route of buying the phone outright on pre-order day, which did let me select a collection on the Saturday. I put it on my credit card, then when I got their on the Saturday I just told them I'd changed my mind and wanted to do iUP, and it was absolutely no hassle - they just processed a full refund onto my credit card, and then completed the iUP process. It worked seamlessly. So it's a bit of a 'hack', but perfectly doable.

In regards to people using Music Magpie for selling their devices. I have found them to be useless when I have used them and take ages to send money through.

Check here to compare all the cash for mobile places. You'll be pleasantly surprised at how much some are offering

I still don’t understand why the upgrade program is in store only....seems idiotic to do it that way. Certainly now.

Not sure how they are going to handle it, was quite the queue when I went last year. Also what about local lockdown restrictions, how do they come into play? Not every city has an Apple store, my nearest is Birmingham...

Whats everones music magpie experience been like in the past?

Can currently get £550 (down from £575 hen I looked the other day) for my iPhone 11 Pro 64gb unlocked and then £20 extra with the code, with the condition as 'good' (the best you can choose)

It says no major damage and light wear and tear accepted. The phone is in perfect condition with no marks at all and has been in a case for the last year...but how nitpicky are music magpie?

Has anyone ever received the full amount they have offered?

Very interesting, a lot of much better prices on here. Are there any companies on here you have used and would recommend? Always find it hard posting something like a phone away in the post and then just hoping it all goes well and money magically appears in your account...

I've had several positive experiences with Music Magpie along with one negative experience.

The positives were several iPhones over the last couple of years. All considered good by me and Music Magpie honoured the agreed price on each one. No quibbling and the money was in my account by the next working day once they'd confirmed the condition and acceptance.

The negative was one occasion when I was right up to the wire on getting my iPhone to them on time. I called them to confirm I could send via next day delivery and that once they'd received it, it would be considered within their time frames. The guy on the phone confirmed as much, but neglected to say them receiving is no guarantee it would be processed same day. The device was received on a Friday, but was not processed until the following Monday - they offered me a much lower price due to the values having shifted and would not honour the booster code I also had. I ended up taking the phone back and selling elsewhere for close to my original quote, but lost out on the next day special delivery with upgraded insurance.

Don't delay sending to Music Magpie and give yourself a couple of days buffer just in case.

Carphone Warehouse are giving 550 for my 256GB 11 Pro.

Last year I got 550 for my XS 256GB.

Quite simple, go to store, they check it out and put the money on your debit card.

This is the game at the moment.. locking in a price late enough and just before they lower prices due to the announcement, but also late enough to not have to send the phone off too early and be left with an old iPhone from my draw for weeks while I wait for my new one..

same phone is £640 (620+20 offer) on musicmagpie

Yes the issue I have with Music Magpie, what if it gets there and they change the value on the iPhone? My iPhone was swapped out last month in apple store, so its perfect condition...but I did manage to put a light scratch in the screen. Not sure if they'll change the value?

A few of us sold our phones to Music Magpie early last year to capitalise on the early values vs selling after new hardware had been released. To tide us over, we bought new low end iPhones from Apple and took advantage of their 14 day return window. When picking up my 11 Pro Max last year, I returned the iPhone XR - the sales guy was confused and I don't think he ever figured out what I was doing.

Sure, I had a little guilt, but I wasn't depriving anybody of a year old iPhone XR. As long as you're careful and don't damage the temporary burner device, you should be fine. I'm unsure whether I'm in the market to upgrade this year year, but I will be pushing for my wife to get a burner XR whilst she sends her phone off to Music Magpie (we have a spare XR case, which will help protect the phone whilst it's in the 14 day period).

I have an old 7plus which I would be able to use to tide me over for a week or so luckily. Im also undecided whether to upgrade or not, I bought my 11 pro last year and unless the 12 pro is much different, which im really not expecting other than 5G then I might have to skip.

The only reason I would be upgrading is so I can still sell my 11 pro and still get a good amount for it. I can get a price of £616 here, which would mean (assuming the new phone is £999) I can get a new phone for about £384.

In regards to buying a new phone and returning I had a similar experience last year with apple, I went from an X to a 11 pro max, had it for 2 days before returning and getting the normal size pro as I hated the size in the end and there's nothing extra you get on the bigger screen. I asked the guy what happens with the phone now as its literally brand new and untouched, he said it will either go back to apple and torn apart to be recycled for parts or insurance companies buy them off them to give to people who make claims.

this is the risk, I know, but , my experience so far is good. they always honour their offer (with the exception of one old iPhone 6s for which they offered finally £3(!) less than initial offer, which I of course accepted)
