Sorry, I am a noob but if I Pre Order an iPhone 12 on Friday (as expected we will able to) will it be delivered to me on release day? Or can it take quite a lot longer?

I am just desperate for a new phone as my iPhone 6s is on its last legs.

If you get in early on pre orders (as in the second it opens) you might get one for launch day. What you'll find though is that shipping dates will likely start to slip pretty quickly.

It all depends on how popular that particular color is, when the shipping times start to slip and/or what time you preorder. Many people will receive their device on launch day, while many more can receives theirs days or weeks later.

Thank you. Do you know what time the pre orders open in the UK? I mean I am not desperate to have it launch day as much, but ideally would want it within 5-7 days after maximum.

Thank you. I am torn between the blue and space grey/black (whatever dark colour they have). Probably going for the 6.1 Non Pro! I am sure it will feel a big upgrade from my trusty 6s!

Personally I don't think there's much demand for the iPhone this year, I expect orders to not be getting pushed back for for possibly at least an hour maybe after they open

from what I remember on last years it took awhile for them to push back and even then it was only a few days

I know it keeps getting repeated, but last year we did not have Covid :(

I hope that’s true. I’m going for the 12 Pro Max 256GB or 512GB in Silver.

I think they changed it last year for the first time IIRC. I think it was 1PM UK time last year.

hope it’s 8am as I was banking on that time to pre order before I go to work 😲

best way to pre order? For my X three years ago, the advice on here was to have it in your favourite basket on the Apple store app and pay by Apple Pay. I remember this worked, however there was lots of issues with banks rejecting the payment initially, fortunately Apple realised the issue and we could pay with an alternative method and not lose our place with pre order.

Had this issue when I bought the X also, had it all saved etc and then Apple Pay didn't reject it but said something along the lines of my postcode didn't match even though it was the same. 2 minutes later id been pushed back to 4 weeks or so wait.

ended up buying through CPW a few hours later and somehow got a launch day release.

This however was the X and the demand was much higher with it being a redesign, so I don't expect this to happen again.

I think I paid with Apple Pay last year on my phone and it all went smoothly and got a day 1 delivery.

I plan on ordering on the Apple Store app using Apple Pay.
I'm pretty sure I'm going for black/space grey 12 Pro, 128gb.
I am SO pumped for tomorrow.

Did anyone see my earlier post about the power brick? I'm still confused as to how they're not putting them in the box.

So they can gloat how the new phone is packed with ‘cutting edge’ tech and they’re not even changing the price! Then they’ll sell you the brick for £30

This is what makes me hate myself, first they put the price up to £1000 a few years ago which is just ridiculous money for a phone, but we still pay it..

and now they’re going to remove something that (for £1000 should be included without question) is needed to make the bloody phone work, and they still won’t lower the price....and here we are again still buying it.

damnit.

Last year I swear I got caught up in the hype thanks to this thread and ended up getting an 11 Pro Max. I almost didn’t keep it though thinking it was too heavy compared to my XS but persevered and got used to it.

This year I’m not sure the new 12 Pro Max will have enough to convince me to change again. I rarely keep a phone more than a year though.

Still hoping the 12 Pro Max has a high refresh screen as that is likely to be one thing that might tempt me. 5G ... meh. Especially when there is talk in the U.K. of the iPhone not working with the bands that EE/Vod/O2 have initially available.
Cameras... 11 Pro series are just fine so not sure what could be so much better.

but if they said the 12 Pro Max had a) smaller notch b) finger print reader again c) less heavy d) high refresh screen

then I would probably go for it.
So annoying at the moment trying to unlock my phone in a shop / super market with FaceID whilst wearing a mask. Would love Touch ID again.

Would trade in via Apple probably and not risk Magpie complaining about whisper hair scratches on my screen etc. (Or CPW of any of their shops still open)

I felt an idiot yesterday after only just realising the 12 pro is actually a bigger screen than the 11 pro, so this is one thing for me that I’m excited about. The pro max is too big, had it for 3 days last year and returned for the regular pro. However 5.8 to 6.1 I would like.
I looked a few days ago at CPW and they offered £400 for trade in and MM was £570, so even if MM did moan about a scratch which you can’t even see, you’d probably still get more off them

After all, this is for the environment. 🤣environment my a**

£30 for power brick and £30 for EarPods so if somebody wants/needs them then this iPhone will be £60 more expensive assuming the price stays the same as last years. This is what infuriates me about Apple. Really hope we actually see a price decrease to reflect the stronger £ and the cut down in accessories.
