Other UK iPhone 12/12 Pro/12 Pro Max (2020) Orders and Dispatch Thread

Really hoping to be 100% convinced by the keynote later. I'm without a phone at the moment as I've been waiting for the 12 but my hype, having been at an all time high a couple of months ago is now diminishing as I've heard how small the battery is likely to be on the 12 mini. Also not happy that the rumoured launch date for the 12 mini is still a MONTH away, so that'll be two months without a smartphone for me personally (a long time as I use it for everything).

If somehow the release date is sooner then great, otherwise this is how I'm going to approach it later..

- If the keynote convinces me on the 12 mini, then I'll reluctantly wait until it's released
- If the 12 pro blows me away and seems worth £300+ more than the 12 mini, then I'll go for the 12 pro.
- If the release date is still a month away for the 12 mini and the 12 pro doesn't feel 'worth it', then I'm probably going to buy either an 11 Pro or 11 if I can get a good deal.

Anyone know which UK retailers tend to sell reduced stock of the previous year's iPhone after the latest one launches? I see Amazon are selling new 11 Pros for around £919, but I'd want to be paying around £8xx to make it a worthwhile purchase. I think for the 11 to be worth it then I'd want to be paying around £5xx for a new one.

The iOS 14 mask feature just means that the phone is quicker to recognise that you are wearing a mask and then bring up the passcode request. It doesn't mean a masked face will unlock the iPhone... unfortunately. 😢

How's everyone selling their current models?

I normally use O2 Recycle but it seems they're possibly under new ownership and don't price match any longer. I've never used Envirofone.

My iPhone 11 Pro is in very good condition but has those really light micro-scratches on the screen that you can see under direct light, since it's been caseless.

Any tips much appreciated!

Sold about 10 phones and an iPad to Envirofone and never had a single issue, usually takes about a week to get the money from the date I post it.

It seems really clunky. Like it tries to use FaceID a few times then I get the option for a passcode. Whilst it kinda works , sometimes the FaceID bit repeats.

Not ideal when the Touch ID would have been a perfect solution.

Android vendors have solved this with under screen finger print readers that are finally viable in the latest iterations. Apple should accept that in current times FaceID isn’t as good as it used to be.

I locked in a price with MusicMagpie you get 21 days to send it in however since locking in I’m on a tight schedule now hahah £690 for my iPhone 11 Pro. Not bad I’ll take whatever

As soon as I do this im on my old 7+ until I manage to get my new one, and then if all goes wrong and I don't manage a launch day shipment this could end up being weeks..

im planning on Wednesday but am in 2 minds as to maybe doing it tomorrow in the hope I hear back from them this way before Friday... The phone is genuinely in perfect condition but im really paranoid they'll somehow knock the price down from the £570 offered :(

Just sold my Note 10+ to GoodBuyTech.co.uk and got a really good deal. Have been stung by businesses like that before but read some good reviews and they paid £120 more than Music Magpie. Been using an old iPhone 8 and loving it. 100% going for the mini now for the small form factor. 6.5 hours to go!
 
I will be upgrading my iPhone 11 Pro Max via the EE upgrade program. I am now out of my year, the main question is what happens next year if they go back to a September release? means everyone will be out of sync who upgraded this year (or you pay an extra £100 for the privilege)
