based on the criteria I set myself ... I’m unimpressed.

no mention of high refresh screens. A real disappointment

no mention of the pro Max being lighter. Current one is too heavy.

no mention of an alternative to FaceID like touch again for Covid times.

Camera improvements and speed. Expected.

price for U.K. is £=$ despite the exchange rate being almost 1.3$ per pound.

the best one of the whole lot was the regular iPhone 12 which comes with an OLED high res screen now.How does that screen compare to the ones on the Pro models.

Gonna stick with the 11 Pro Max I already have.

the difference won't be 30% as the american price doesn't include sales tax while ours does include vat i thinks its around 10% difference. so an extra 120 quid on a pro max thats what apple are making from us.

The £=$ used is actually $1.2/£1 our prices include 20% VAT. I've given apple a lot of stick on this thread so far about pricing but i don't think we could ask for a fairer price comparison. It's annoying they increased the iPhone 12 by $100 over the 11 but you are getting an OLED display with much higher resolution screen. Plus the $100 is actually a £70 increase for us as the iPhone 11 was priced high.

Do you guys know if I can preorder an iPhone with iUP (which I’m currently on) but collect it the day after launch? Fact is, covid permitting, I’ll be out of the country on the 13th November and will be back on the 14th 😩

In respect to UK 5G looking at apples website it looks like:

3400MHz (All providers apart from Three)- Not suported
Three apparently have 3600MHz-4000MHz- 3600MHz supported.

That's assuming the information on the below websites are up to date and correct.

n78 band is 3300 – 3800MHz and it's what all four networks are using. Three has 100MHz (3580MHz to 3680MHz iirc), EE and o2 have 40MHz and Vodafone has 50MHz.

Under the current OFCOM rules spectrum is now technology agnostic, so if EE wanted to they could repurpose any of their other spectrum to 5G. They've got a lot of 2600MHz that could be repurposed.

Where would people recommend a good iPhone 12 case? Amazon?
Yes, but Amazon is filled with all kinds of riff raff from China. Look for some established brands with good reviews on previous models. Obviously this is a redesign, but decent case producers usually stay okay. Or wait for reviews in a month or two.

Error on the site? It says the pro max will be out for preorder this Friday at 1pm...

engadget think its just a 60hz not 120hz so i think i'm out again this upgrade cycle

the 12 pro max phone looks great but for me my xs max will last another year and once you've used a 120hz you don't want to buying a new phone without it IMO.

Defo not 120 as they’d have made a song and a dance about it! Given the amount of time they spent on recording in Dolby

Coming from an 8 so I. Going for 128gb Blue 12. Will have the app ready to preorder at 1pm. It could be a race between my series 6 watch and phone arriving

I don’t get the lightning to USB-C approach? is this the only cable included or will it come with standard USB does anybody know? I don’t own anything with a USB-C port although my wife’s MBP has these. I’m not sure the mass market is quite ready for this as even my brand new Dell laptop hasn’t got this capability.

Also bare in mind on the non pros, the US pricing is only $699 and $799 on Verizon, $30 more from Apple or for any other carriers.

its closer to 1.30 than 1.20 its 1.29 and been well above 1.30 at times this year

america have announced that fiscally they don't expect interest rates to be increased in the short to medium term and thats there intention to go for growth and will even accept increased inflation rather than raise rates. from my calculation its around 10% more expensive for us than states after sales tax/vat

i could be off though as i was up at 3.30am this morning and running on fumes at the moment lol

It will only come with a USB-C to lightning cable.

I normally just get a cheap case to start off in from day one then wait for the reviews and quality cases released

Yep, it sounds like until the 700MHz (which is supported) is auctioned off Three is the only network which you can use 5G on for the new iPhones. I'm waiting for somebody else to look into it and hopefully they find i've made a mistake.

I'm with Three but i'd assume i'd need them to send me a 5G SIM? i remember with the iphone 5 you needed a 4g sim.

Please stop posting your guesses as fact.

All four networks use the SAME band for 5G, and NO, you don't need a new sim.

EE, O2, Vodafone and Three use 5G NR Band n78 (3500MHz)

The iPhone 12 supports that band, am I missing something?

Nope, people just making s*** up, the 12 covers all bands required, in fact it covers far more bands than are in use.

  • 5G NR (Bands n1, n2, n3, n5, n7, n8, n12, n20, n25, n28, n38, n40, n41, n66, n77, n78, n79)
